3-0 start to the season.

It certainly hasn't been easy and at times Pitt has been downright ugly, but we are a 3-0 football team heading into a game against an FCS team. We've got a very good chance to head into Chapel Hill at 4-0. UNC looks like they are in somewhat of a rebuilding phase at the QB position. Our QB as a r-Fr has thrown for 300yd and 3td in each of the first three games and as he continues to get experience, his play will likely continue to improve. My question is, could this finally be the magical season we have all been waiting for? Here is the schedule the rest of the way.

UNC Oct 5 away
Cal Oct 12 home
Cuse Oct 24 home
SMU Nov 2 away
Virginia Nov 9 home
Clemson Nov 16 home
Louisville Nov 23 away
BC Nov 30 away

Cal looks to be pretty good with an early season victory over Auburn, but we do have Cal at home. Clemson is a bit down this year. I don't see a game on the schedule that we can't win. It would take almost all the breaks going our way, but the path is there. Will it happen? Almost certainly not, but...

PODCAST: A big volleyball win, the Brawl, YSU and more

Jim and I got together Wednesday night just as the No. 1 Pitt women's volleyball team beat No. 3 Penn State, and the live show got rolling from there with discussions about volleyball, the Backyard Brawl and a lot more plus comments and questions from Pitt fans.

Alliance 412

I was working on updating my monthly payment method with Alliance 412 and wanted to share my experience.

In summary, had a great chat with Jeff and he was quick to support me. More to the reason I am sharing the post, it was fun to chat with him about his 1st hand experiences with NIL. He also share some stories on working closely with people like Chris Bickell and what it was like to watch the WVU game with him.

If you want to reach out directly to Jeff, the COO, I am sure he will be happy to discuss their program, NIL and anything else Pitt sports (and fund raising): jeff@alliance412.com.

Pitt-PSU observations

Just got back from the game. What an incredible night and dominant performance from the team. Here are some quick thoughts:
- Torrey Stafford was the best player on the court. Unstoppable and Fairbanks was smart enough to keep feeding her.
- Pitt’s serve game was far superior to PSU’s. We got a ton of easy points from lots of different servers and Penn State didn’t get a single service run until the third set when the match was basically over.
- Emmy Klika had a fantastic game. If she can play at this level it will be a real difference maker for this team. The defense as a whole was spectacular.
- Fairbanks was in total control. Incredible decision-making and execution all night.
- I know it’s early and there will likely be bumps in the road, but it’s hard to watch that game and not come away thinking this team is a national title contender.
Hard to believe, but I am even more excited for this season than I was before. H2P!!

Article Film review: How Pitt's offense attacked West Virginia

Pitt scored four touchdowns and produced another 300-yard passing game in the win over West Virginia on Saturday. What worked for the Panthers and where do they have to improve? Let's look at the film.

Three things I forgot watching field pass of WVU

  1. On our second to last stop, Jimmy Scott basically just pushes over the WVU QB with one hand. Granted, I'm sure he could easily push ME over with one hand, that QB must be embarrassed when he sees that on tape.
  2. The missed face mask on the big Holstein run on that last drive is soooooooooooo egregious. His ENTIRE HEAD snaps downward.
  3. It didn't matter in the end, but the play where Holstein's helmet comes off is 100% a penalty and dirty play. The defender literally pushes him by the face mask while he's pinned down.

Pitt called Poverty Program today by

Mike Farrell on ESPNU radio. The show was talking about some of the SEC issues such as FLA coach future buyout issues, Ole Miss trying to retain Kiffin and Tennessee taxing ticket holders for next season. Talked about how athletic depts should have been saving all the $ they made the past decade or two so could better handle NIL and soon revenue sharing versus leaning on boosters. Rick Neuheisel mentioned Heather getting fired due to lack of fundraising and that’s when Farrell called us a poverty program. Tried to take a little step back and say at least when compared to Tennessee. Mentioned we play in an NFL stadium w/poor attendance that leads to other deficits like low concessions, etc. Dude sounded like a dick most of the interview. He even mentioned tongue in cheek that most fan bases hate him.
