Happy New Year to my fellow Pitt Hoops Fans (and a couple other "Dribbles") ...

** For me, it seems fitting that the remainder of this season begins on New Year's Day, because it's been quite some time since I've gone into a New Year this excited about the status of the Pitt Hoops Team.

** In fact, you have to go all the way back to the 2012-2013 Hoops Season when our team was even ranked once in the AP poll before January 1. That's 12 seasons ago.

** And the number 18 ranking we achieved (then lost) a few weeks ago was the highest ranking the team has at all enjoyed since the 2013-2014 season (when we were also 18th).

** Sure two years ago, on New Year's Eve Eve, we beat the #25 UNC team to go 10-4 at the moment. But it really wasn't until 3 days past the ball dropping when we beat the #11 Cavaliers when things started getting really interesting.

** Anyway, mostly I'm really excited thinking abut where this season goes. We will end up being decent (bubbly once again this year like the last two), good (legit NCAA team), or really good (competing for a protected seed)?

** At the moment, most signs point to good. But there are three real opportunities to move to the latter.

** First, Damian returns. Second, GDG should get better, even if just shooting 30% from three the rest of the way. Third, yes, I still believe that Amsal could join the mix in a meaningful way.

** But in the next few months of 2025, I'm pumped thinking about what's going to happen in those next 19 ACC games, followed by a to-be-determined number of post season games.

** In short, it's the first time in a long time I'll be looking forward to March with our Panthers while sipping Champaign when the ball drops.

** Along those lines, I hope our the Panthers receive a near packed house at 2:00pm on New Year's Day! Roll Call! Who else will be there?

** So once again, Happy New Year to my fellow Pitt Hoops Fans!

** Here's to 2025!

OT: Browns, Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield

Imagine you are a Browns fan. All you had to do is resign Baker Mayfield. You likely save $20-25 million of cap space.

You also have:
2022 1st and 3rd rd pick
2023 1st and 4th rd pick
2024 1st and 4th rd pick.

They don't have that bad of a roster. They could have had those guys.........and a decent QB. But this shows what poor ownership does. It kills franchises and hamstrings them.

Im not disappointed this game

Yes, there were bad coaching calls and bad plays. What else is (k)new.

Seriously we were playing a 4th string walk on and 5th string QB. Many other back ups in. What made any of you think PN would go outside his conservative nature? He is who he is, we may want different, but that's not an option. The one time Pitt got rid of a semi successful coach, they couldn't of F'd it up worse.

I give the kids credit, many of them fought hard. I'm not against getting rid of Duzz, but anyone thinking we are going to get much better than him are delusional.

You In The Zoo

My family and I got the zoo ticket deal and got to sit near the tunnel yesterday. After the game my son asked Beebah, (slowly turning into 3-bah but i digress), for a picture and he said "I'll be back out, i got you." We decided to wait to appease my oldest but sort of expected, post game speech, showers, talk to family, then come out 20 minutes later. Nope. Within 5 minutes, Lowe, Beebah, the Twins, Austin were in the tunnel still in uniform to take pictures and sign autographs for the kids. Other guys eventually came out too but we had to get headed back to boonies.

They all couldn't have been nicer and they were all super gracious to everyone they interacted with and took their time with every single kid they met. My son and his buddy we buzzing that they got to meet Jaland and Beebah, as were all the other kids. What fantastic representatives of the basketball program and Pitt. Who knows what the season will bring, but the vibes of this team appear to be incredible at the moment. Just an awesome experience.

Percent of your hatred

With WVU focusing obsessively on us lately with RichRod and saying we only focus on 13-9, it got me thinking...I hate WVU but I hate Ped State much worse. I would say 80% of my other team hatred goes to Ped State and maybe 20% goes to WVU. I also hate USC and Ohio State but won't include them.

What percent of your hate goes to Ped St, WVU, etc?
