Capel won his 250th game as a head coach tonight. That puts him just 953 wins short of the all-time record, held by his former coach and mentor. Does he get there?

With advancements in modern medicine and the ability for humans to function at a high level deeper and deeper into their older age, anything is possible.

Very realistic if two things happen:

1. Genetic modification therapies enable humans to live to 114.

2. HL extends his contract for 65 years. (FYI - Capel has averaged 14.66 wins per year while at Pitt, so if that holds, it will only take him an additional 65 years to reach the record).

Seems reasonable.

Cruzer

BTW - if a coach is under contract and dies of old age before the term expires, does the estate get the remaining payout? I think HL should consider this....Pitt could be the only school in history to be paying a dead person (excluding of course Kevin Stallings who was alive only from a strictly legal perspective).
