We applauded Cincy/Tulsa canceling their meaningless game since they were playing in the American Championship the next week. Well, what's the point of playing this game Saturday other than potentially eliminating Clemson? ND is in. Clemson is probably out with a loss. Just cancel and have them play for the ACC Title and a chance to play for the Natty in Pasadena.

So, cancel the ACC title game,

So they can play in the ACC title game.

This should be entertaining.....

This idea brought to you by SMF.

An unofficial ACCCG in Pasasena. Instead, both teams risk injury and Clemson risks not making the CFP. Also, there is a chance they'd play in the NC for the 3rd time this season. The game tomorrow is unnecessary. Hopefully, one of the teams opts out

There's this crazy thing they play for sometimes. It's called monkey or something. Or moonly. Ah, wait... money. That's it.

Adopting your logic, the better scenario would’ve been for ND to come up with an excuse to opt out of the ACCCG so that Clemson could win the ACC against a substitute and gain their spot in the CFP.

No its a bigger risk for Clemson to play. If they lose, they are out. If they opt out, they are in.

That’s legitimately a great idea for both schools. Absolutely nothing to lose by not playing this game. Though rather than travel across the country to play it in front of no fans go to a site that’ll allow some spectators.

"We" didn't applaud anything. Besides, it's apples to oranges.

This is true. Had the ACC regular season schedule have Clemson and ND scheduled last week, it would've been a good idea to cancel. In any event, it wouldn't be in the ACC's interests to pull such a stunt and piss off ABC, who has the best matchup tomorrow.

I think the "good idea" part of this is also apples to oranges on a "who cares" level. TV could literally care less about Cincy and Tulsa. It's not a game that people are going to plan around to tune in to. Probably cost neutral at best. Clemson vs. ND is just a tad different. The first game was NBC's most highly rated game in 27 years. Think ABC is missing out on that gem?

So far as Clemson is concerned, it's possible that if they lose another close one that we could see our first two-loss CFP participant. The fact that the schedules were so goofy this year might be enough to make that change. Can almost bet that the two teams end up #2 and #4 in the CFP if it's close.

For arguments sake, If clemson loses another close one,

do they get in over a 6-0 or 7-0 OSU? Should they?

If tOSU wins vs NW, they will be in. In your scenario the question is should Texas A&M, Georgia, FL, etc. jump Clemson.

Actually "WE" kind of laughed that there is a team out there that thinks they deserve to be playing in the playoffs but the people who run that school's conference were afraid that they wouldn't be able to beat Tulsa twice so they cancelled one of the games. Tulsa, for god's sake.

If you are afraid you might lose to Tulsa you don't belong anywhere near the playoffs.

In the G5 mindset, the AAC is a meat grinder of a schedule. Just ask them. Playing Tulsa twice would be unthinkable for a team that can supposedly hang with Bama.

If Clemson opted out, as your post suggests, they would have one loss to Notre Dame, and no ACC title game to play in.

Additionally, Texas A&M would have a loss to Alabama, again with no SEC title game to play in. I would also add the Aggie's schedule is decidedly tougher than Clemson's.

So, given your mind numbingly stupid suggestion,

From the scenario which you are pushing,

Who gets left out?

I will answer for you and any other dope that suggests Clemson opting out of the ACC title game would have been a wise decision.

It would have been a blunder of biblical proportion.

Their loss to ND was in 3OT without Trevor Lawrence and their star MLB. Theu would have easily gotten in.
