Burton made five shots in the second half. His teammates made ten shots in the second half. Burton assisted on six of those ten.
I suppose. Seemed like a pretty ominous, foreboding sliver of things to come, though. I was hoping that Miami game lit a little more of a fire under the defense, rebounding, and intensity elements of our game. Feels like we've been in denouement since that Syracuse game.
Hail to Pitt! Hopefully this win alone will get us in, I will be off tomorrow to watch us smack Duke.

I thought the consecutive Cummings layups were where it turned, but yeah - he also hit some shots down the stretch.
I think the only reason we won this game was because GT ran out of gas and ONLY scored 81 on us. Let that sink it for a moment.
Giving up 81 to Tech is HORRIBLE!!
Pathetic. If we continue with this very poor defensive effort, we won't win another game the rest of the year, including tomorrow and a possible NCAAT game.
We obviously aren't great defensively, but the rebounding just makes it worse. We need to have a team rebounding mentality. As soon as the ball goes up, all are guys should be crashing the boards.
Teams pushing us hard at the 3 point line since the ND game. We’re being backed to nearly midcourt. We’ve been discombobulated in each game by that IMO.
Nice to see Elliott play well and hit some 3’s. Needed to get him back on track and it appears that happened.
I just wish he’d stop driving to the hoop . He looks totally like a fish out of water .
They did it in spurts throughout the season and then, almost inexcusably, would back off. I think with it being nut cutting time teams have really refocused on how to beat us. And it isn't very difficult when we don't have the speed or ballhandling to blow past them and make them pay.
I like to read the game threads after the game. Particularly after a win. This one is hilarious. While I never thought the game was in doubt, apparently the Lair was melting down over what became an easy, covered the spread win.
Mostly true, we didn’t try to penetrate at all other than Nike on occasion. We got it inside with Fede for dunks and Burton hit a couple midrange shots to counter it in the first half. Burton rediscovered that later in the second half. But neither Fede nor the twins were able to make them pay in the second half.
One thing this tactic has done in general is make our guys more tentative to take threes even when they do have them open.
