Alabama in Pittsburgh yesterday, offered Ford, Wade and met with

-Do you want to win or do you want to be a punching bag in college football for Duke, Akron, and Marshall? Answer truthfully. Stand up like a man for the program you represent already. At all costs.

I don't understand what this has to do in comparing us with Alabama. So Ski asks you about rather being Alabama than Pitt over the past 25 years and you want to compare us with Akron. You aren't very good at this debating/arguing stuff are you?

Exactly. Selling "the pros" to players is about what the current staff can do, not what players from other eras under other staffs did in the NFL. Also, let's not misunderstand the argument even with that known. This is about ROI for the players and this staff cannot even begin to compete with places like LSU, Alabama, etc. in that regard. Hopefully they will one day, but it is a long way off.

I posted something to this on the pay board in a similar thread. Pitt has a lot to be proud of in regards to generating some of the very best talent in NFL history. And Pitt should showcase it. But does this mean it is going to help recruiting? Not really. All it really accomplishes in recruiting is it does not allow other programs like a PSU or OSU or ND or Michigan to use their NFL success against us. This is one where we can stand while maybe not as an equal, but certainly on their level.

That's it. And to be honest, I would trade a Revis or Fitz for say one of WVU's 11-1 BCS Bowl winning seasons, because that is what really counts.

-Considering Larry Fitzgerald is on his way to becoming arguably the greatest WR in the history of football, you are insane. They can have 1 bcs bowl win, it isnt a Championship.

Over the last 20 years would you rather be Alabama or Pitt?

Yeah, but we went 9-4 and 8-5. Larry was a great college player, is a great pro, and a stand up guy, but we essentially accomplished nothing with him.

I think Meat Curtain isn't responding to you because you're not speaking to him in Curtainese. Try something along these lines:

You'd rather be Pitt than Bama the last 20 years? Let's dance. Bring it. I can't wait to see your response. I will bury your ass. I'm waiting. Let's go.

No response. That's what I thought.

-What is the point? No one is saying Pitt is better than Alabama as a college football team right now. No one.

-There is no point even arguing it. The only thing I responded to was, was that Alabama was better than Pitt all the way around. Well, that isnt true, because when it comes to Elite talent in the NFL we stone them. Im done talking about Alabama on this board.

We did lose to Toledo with Larry, and my dad, brother and I had to sit there in the Glass Bowl with our Pitt stuff on and watch the Toledo kids storm the field, tear down the goalpost and carry it out of the stadium.

That was special.

Yep. And I remember the awful, frigid loss to The U the day after Thanksgiving when Larry finally got stopped (although he did get that late TD) and our run D was getting gashed as usual.

-Well, you are an idiot. Because Pitt is tied for 4th right in the NFL hall players. And like I said, will be a runaway #1 in another 6-7 years.

Do you really think Pitt is getting 6 more HOF in the next 6-7 years? Really?

And that's to just get to #1, saying nothing about runaway #1.

Larry was/is a great one. That Miami game was on WLAT. He thought we could successfully use the best player in the country as a decoy in that game, and didn't even have him on the field in a couple of goal line scoring situations.

And that's WLAT in a nutshell.

Oh, I agree. Just recounting some bad memories. Would happily have traded the great player for the great team.

LOL, which six? I'll give you Fitz, probably Re

Jerry Rice. Sorry. And yes, unless having Larry Fitz bring a lineage of 4-5 star WR's to Pitt, I would rather win than have individual greatness. It's not golf.

Randy Moss. End of conversation. When Moss played hard there was no better receiver in the game.

The fact that you had to add when he plays hard tells me all I need to know about Randy Moss

-This is when I know people dont understand football. Randy Moss is one of the weakest blocking WR's in NFL history, and Larry Fitzgerald is one of the best if not the best blocking WR in NFL history. It is so well known Moss was lazy as shit when it came to run blocking.
