Alabama in Pittsburgh yesterday, offered Ford, Wade and met with

Do you feel like comparing Alabama bowl games vs Pitt bowl games since Saban took over for the 2007 season?

I'll start.

2007 Alabama - Independence Bowl

WR-Larry Fitzgerald-9X Pro Bowl Player in the NFL. Within the next 2-3 years, he will be 2nd All Time in receiving yards in NFL history. He is already 9th All Time in NFL TD's, and 10th all time in career receptions, at 32 years old. He will smash every receiving record in the NFL history outside maybe Jerry Rice's all time yards record.

If we are gonna debate between bama and pitt, I think it should be about who is hotter. Bama's former QBs girlfriend or Turman's sister?

Notre Dame can match Pitt with HOF position by position, starting with Joe Montana, Paul Hornung, and Jerome Bettis. If you don't realize how much talent Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State, and Michigan have put into the NFL and Hall of Fame, then there is no helping you.

What bowl did Pitt go to in 2007, this thread was dealing with Alabama (defending National Champions) coming into the WPIAL to recruit players. Why not compare success of the programs?

2007 pitt beat the second best team in the country, therefor, they are the best team in the country in 2007.. Those are facts, any games pre WVU are not relevant to this discussion..

-Put it in writing. Lets go. Im just getting warmed up

-What player in the NFL has dominated from Alabama outside Julio Jones? The answer is none. All those powerhouse RB's in college, and nothing in the NFL. Mark Ingram has been there 5 years already. 1 lousy pro bowl. Psst

John Hannah, Joe Namath, Don Hutson, Derrick Thomas, Dwight Stephenson, Ozzie Newsome, Ken Stabler, and Bart Starr. That's a pretty DAMN good list. Eight Hall-of-Famers same as Pitt. I hate when people talk without any knowledge of what they talk about. They look stupid and it reflects on Pitt poorly.

-Look at their stats then compare

-Look at their stats then compare

Don't have to compare. John Hannah maybe greatest OL ever. Don Hutson, greatest WR before Jerry Rice. Look up Hutson's stats, and he played in a era when they didn't throw the football.
Starr, Stabler and Namath - three Alabama QBs to win a Super Bowl, four Super Bowl rings. How many does Marino have? Dwight Stephenson - maybe greatest center ever. Ozzie Newsome - top five tight end in NFL history. You want stats? Compare Ditka's to Newsome. Derrick Thomas, seven sacks in one game, one game. Great OLB pass rusher.

Your argument is looking worse. Give it up.

Still waiting for that 2007 bowl game.

TE-Mike Ditka- 6X Pro Bowler, 5X NFL All Pro, NFL rookie of the year, NFL Champion, NFL 75th University team of the best 75 players in the last 100 years, Coached the best team in the NFL to a 15-1 record and super bowl in 1985. NFl and College Hall of Fame

-Want to keep going?

Seriously, Notre Dame can match HOF still, Tim Brown at WR, Dave Casper at TE. Give it a rest.

Figure out that 2007 bowl game yet?

-When you are ready, post Notre Dame's all time team. I think you are leaning toward them.

-Im going to destroy you.

-Post when are ready, Im about to move to Pitt's oline, young grasshopper.

As soon as you compare Pitt's bowl history against Alabama since Saban became the coach.

why are you on saban's nuts so much?

This thread is about Alabama coming into the area to recruit, and Steel, amongst others, seems to think Pitt is at the same level of Alabama because Tony Dorsett, Dan Marino, Mike Ditka, Chris Doleman, and Rickey Jackson played at Pitt over 35 years ago. It's ridiculous. What these two teams have done the past 10 years or so is much more relevant than Pitt being able to match all time great players with schools due to who Johnny Majors and Jackie Sherrill recruited way back when.

Ol-Ruben Brown- 9 Pro Bowls, 3X All American. Started all 181 games in the NFL. Every one of them. If it wasnt for a shoulder injury he would probably have 11-12 pro bowls. 4X All Pro in the NFL and 50th year All Anniversary team in the NFL.

-you want to keep going?

-Obviously you do not want to keep going.

-Pitts all time team would absolutely smash anyone in college football outside of USC, and I told you it would get ugly if you kept going. USC is the only team that could compete with Pitt on all time teams, and they would still lose at the end of the game.

-No one can beat Pitt's all time team. No one.

RB-Tony Dorsett-NFL Hall of Fame, College Hall of Fame, Super Bowl MVP, over 7000 yards at Pitt, 2nd all time in college football history. Put up 1600 yards in 11 games as a freshmen at Pitt. Heisman winner, 3X First Team All American, unanimous College Football Player of the Year. Only player in NFL history to average over 1000 yards rushing in 9 of his first 10 seasons in the NFL besides Barry Sanders

Question about the 9 in 10 years stat. I think Jim Brown played 9 years. What year didn't he average 1,000 yards?

I googled it and here is what I found

Anyone got a pic of John Turman's sister by chance? preferably circa 2000

This thread has morphed into a pointless discussion.

For starters, what said player did in the NFL is irrelevant to this. No doubt a Pitt fan would want to trot out Hugh Green, whose nfl career did not come close to matching his college career.

It's otherwise difficult to compare players across different eras due to size and speed. As much as we love Marino and Dorsett, they didn't have to deal with 330 pound d linemen that run faster. Let alone players from Marshall Goldberg's era.

Otherwise, Pitts problem in this discussion is just too many dead eras. 1940-1972 was mostly bad. The 90's were a disaster. The last ten were so mediocre fans are going nuts over a coach that produced an 8-4 record.
Point is, these other schools have a much larger pool of players to choose from.

Just google it, bro.

How's that Pitt vs Alabama success over past 30 years going for you?
Better than you weak arguments against Pitt HOF Names for you, that you brought up in error.
1. ND-USC
3. OSU
4. PITT-Michigan
5-129 FBS Programs Lower

I have no problem in respecting Bama success in Wins, NCS, and other aspects in NCAA history and clearly beats more than just Pitt on overall Wins and NCS too!

There are only two era Pitt beat Bama in Wins:
1976-1982:
http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin...=1976&end=1982&rpct=30&min=5&se=on&by=Win+Pct

1910-1940:
http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin...=1976&end=1982&rpct=30&min=5&se=on&by=Win+Pct

Yet, still Bama Trails Pitt in NFL HOF and pretty equal in CFB HOF and Pitt in Top 3 All Century Players 1900-1999!

Which is Steel-Curtian Argument you did and could not refute?

Alabama has 8, just like Pitt, as does Syracuse.

Let me ask you something real quick. Would you rather have more NFL Hall of Fame players (which Pitt doesn't anyway), or 4 National Titles in the past 7 years, with 2 Sugar Bowls (1 in playoff) and a Capital One Bowl interspersed?

Jami Turman is her name.. Cant cut/paste pic of her from Raiders website.. Definitely a nice debate between bama vs. pitt, aka Jami Turman vs. Katherine Webb..

Those kids need to speak to Robert Foster...
That would only make Bama more of a possible destination.....Robert F. Seemed quite content/and finally at home at Bama.... at least on tv during their spring game!!! IMHO DONT poke the sleeping giant in this case Bama could come back to bite you REAL bad. With these w.Penn athletes...just saying!!! HTP..Forever!!!!!

QB-Marino
RB-Dorsett
FB-Martin
WR-Fitzgerlald
OL-Brown

-I would be more than happy to keep going.

Here you go -
2007 Pitt - no bowl
2007 Alabama - Independence Bowl

2008 Pitt - Sun Bowl
2008 Alabama- Sugar Bowl

2009 Pitt - Meineke Car Care Bowl
2009 Alabama - National Championship

2010 Pitt - Compass Bowl
2010 Alabama - Capital One Bowl

2011 Pitt - Compass Bowl
2011 Alabama - National Championship

2012 Pitt - Compass Bowl
2012 Alabama - National Championship

2013 Pitt - Little Caesars Bowl
2013 Alabama - Sugar Bowl

2014 Pitt - Armed Forces Bowl
2014 Alabama- Sugar Bowl (National Semifinal)

2015 Pitt - Military Bowl
2015 Alabama - National Championship

But hey, Pitt has just as many players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as Alabama (and less than Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State) so it's all good.

Can you answer this? Would you rather have more players in Hall of Fame (which Pitt doesn't) or 4 National Championships in the past 7 years?

Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State, and Alabama all time teams would beat Pitt all time teams over half the time. Probably Michigan, Florida, Miami too.

Jesus Christ, first psu fans coming over here spewing nonsense now we got ala-freakin-bama fans coming over to talk about bowl games from 8 years ago.. Great, just what I always wanted to talk about..

I'm not an Alabama fan. Read the thread title, and the posts in the thread that are insinuating players should go to Pitt over Alabama for whatever reason, and the silly notion that Pitt is anywhere close to Alabama (or Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Michigan, etc) as a program.

What about you? Rather have more HOF players (which again, Pitt doesn't), or 4 titles in past 7 years?
