First off, I like beer alot so I can relate well to drunken stupidity. However, I really like your thoughts on the current state of the program. Seems you may be thinking more lucidly than many who have posted in this thread.
I am definitely not one of those Jamie can do no wrong guys, but I also think he can get back to his roots and recruit high school players that will be here for four years and improve as they grow older. This was the formula that got our program going and hopefully with Kithcart and Manigault Jamie has something to build on. If he can do at least as well next year, we could regain much of what has been lost.
You also stated that some changes with assistants could help. I think that this area definitely needs to be addressed. Jamie himself must be very disappointed in missing on most all of the top talent he tried to land. He either needs to get better at identifying the type of kid Pitt can land or should he think we can go after higher profile kids, he must get at least one assistant who can give us a shot to get that top talent here. I would prefer to see us employ a mixture of these two strategies so that every now and again we get a special player. In the mean time, I will be very happy if we just start getting back to hard nosed kids that this program was founded on.
I don't think Jamie has forgotten how to coach! He rightfully has been ridiculed for his recruiting misses and many pinpoint his system as the reason great players, particularly shooting guards don't want to play here. I am not sure the system is at fault, but with Nix, Kithcart, and Manigault coming on board next season, I just wonder what this program might be like if we could add a legitimate 2 guard to the stable. I can always hope, because I am not ready to give up on Jamie!
