I know both Harbaugh and Franklin are pushing for it and there are others, it gaining momentum and will happen sooner rather than later.

Casting aside any personal feelings for Franklin and Harbaugh, of course they want this. They are probably already sick and tired of having to beg boosters and fans for money, and they are sick and tired of recruiting not being about relationships etc but primarily about money. Harbaugh is out, obviously, and anybody who can get out probably will. Franklin's not an NFL level coach, so he has no escape route. I'm sure he'd prefer to make all of this cleaner.

The entire situation is absurd.

Yeah, god forbid that Pitt add another sport. All the other sports are obviously what keeps Pitt from competing for a football national championship every year.

Old fashioned college football has been over for at least 40 years, probably more. The fact that some people have been able to fool the masses for as long as they have doesn't mean that it's not true, it just means that some people were OK with being fooled.

It seems more likely that the schools in those two conferences aren't thrilled with where this is headed. Specifically the NIL and control over the money that boosters are throwing at NIL schemes. Has to be concerning when your business model depends on squeezing the alumni that have very little else outside of coming to your football games and spending money.
