Brown played 18 minutes and had 0 points and 0 rebounds

Been agreeing with you too much lately. I think he should transfer to RMU. He'd be a 7 foot center going up against teams who's biggest players are 6'8". Still wouldn't get rebounds but could get a lot of blocks and some easy baskets.

I don't think he should transfer. Why would he? Hamilton is leaving. Probably Kene too. Hugley will be our only C and he will be a FR. Brown is going to play a lot for us next year for better or worse. There are times when he does do good things. He is never going to be a good ACC C but I believe its possible that he can become a viable ACC backup C in his final season and every team needs that.

Capel is a straight shooter. At the same time he was critical of Browns first half. Then he talked about ways that he impacted the game in the 2nd half. And make no mistake, Brown had a positive impact on how we outscored UNC by 17 in the 2nd half. What Capel is trying to do is get complete games out of TB. Just as Capel isn’t shallow when looking at the state line, I refuse to do the same.

Sometimes this board can be a cesspool.
I’ll repeat
His defense was not very good, either .
I’m a big fan of the little things -
He altered a couple shots. Capel seemed to think he was more productive than I observed - and his opinion actually counts

There are players who help without stats- which is why I like Toney more than most.

I didn’t see the contribution from brown that game -
It wasn’t defense , or screens, or even good movement to create space on offense that I noticed .

But capel’s opinion is the one that counts .

Actually I should clarify. He didn’t help on the offensive end. It WAS on defense. He limited the strength of carolina’s team, which according to Capel is their interior scoring. And his work rate and shot blocking altered shots and changed the entire complexion of the 2nd half. I personally didn’t see it, as I had to watch from a bar that carried the ACCN and watching from a bar is not as easy as it is from the living room or in person. But Capel glowed on his radio show on Thursday about Browns impact. That was enough for me

I also think coach was trying to put some positive vibes in TB' s his mindset. Sometimes you have to use positive reinforcement to get to some guys to pick them up because you can't always beat them down for what they're not doing because it will only compound the situation. I am guessing in doing this TB will come out with a little more fight the next game and play better which he is capable of doing. IMHO

I watched and rewatched the game .

and I’ll stand by statements

What actually changed is our offensive ball movement , making open threes ,and press defense turning them over .

I don't understand how people don't get that leadership involves some puffery sometimes.

I once spent a week prepping a witness for deposition. The witness called me the night before the deposition and he was so stressed out that he couldn't remember basic facts, such as the basic duties of a job that he supervised. It was madness but the stress was so overwhelming that he sounded like he was going to have a heart attack just talking about his job.

I told him how much confidence we had in him. That the CEO himself hand picked this guy to testify. That there was no one else in the entire company that would give the answers that he could. It wasn't true but it was what that guy needed to hear. And you know what, it worked. He calmed down significantly and did ok the next day (not amazing, just sufficient).

That's what you need to do sometimes. Tell your troops what they can do, not what they can't do. Faith and confidence in a person is sometimes all it takes to get them to perform. Capel has a team whose best players are all true Sophomores and some very lightly recruited upperclassmen. What's he gonna do? Tell everyone how much we suck and we can't win? C'mon.

Agree with this wholeheartedly and really won't be surprised to see TB move on as he has been recruited over hard and I don't see him having much of a role (8-10 minutes tops) next year with Coulibaly/Hugley/Amadasun/Collier all here next year. Capel will play his guys that hustle and play the way he wants. TB may be a nice kid but he just can't play CONSISTENTLY at the level he is needed or being asked to play at.

That's quite the statement. Firstly, I thought I read that Hugley wants to play the 4.

With Hamilton gone, do you really think that Coulibaly, who looks utterly lost and should be a RS this year, and two freshman are going to overtake the majority of minutes from a nearly 7 foot experienced senior, who at the very least seriously affects shots in the paint? I don't.

Yeah I would keep TB next year for sure unless they get a Blackshear-level C transfer. You can't go into a season with a true freshman (#350) and true sophomore (#250) as your only Centers.

If TB wasn't 6'10" he wouldn't see the court this year and considering the short leash Hamilton has been on too. I would be shocked if we don't run a similar lineup as this year except with one of Capel's guys manning the 5 -

X
Trey
Toney
Champagnie
Hugley/Amadasum/Collier/Brown

Just my guess on watching Capel coach, especially TB the past 2 years. Not saying we should push him out, more thinking he would move on for a better opportunity (against lesser competition).

Yes I do think Coulibaly will see an increase in minutes next year once he has a year in the system and could see a 3 way split of minutes at the 5 next year of Hugley 15-20 / Amadasum 5-10/ coulibaly 5-10 that leaves Brown out and Coulibaly/Collier seeing minutes in a big lineup at the 4 as well.
