Coolest White Guys to Play for Pitt

Matt Miklasevich. His one game vs Ewing was one to remember. John Thompson said something to the effect of "What's this guy's role on the team?"

Varga has the most street cred by far. Heck, more than most of our black players.

Steve Masleck, basically an enforcer.

#1 has to be Chad Varga
#2 would be The Piano Man, Levon Kendall
The top of the list begins where the alphabet ends... Zavackas

The season before Zavackas arrived, Pitt finished the Big East season in 11th place with a 5–13 record (14–16 overall). During Zavackas' four years the Panthers captured two regular season Big East Titles, played in three Big East Tournament (BET) Championship games and captured one BET Championship. Pitt also played in one NIT and two NCAA Tournaments(advancing to the Sweet 16 round both times) with Zavackas at power forward position.

Can't believe Aaron Gray is left out, he was the star of the team his senior year, probably a BE All Star too, and had a 10 year NBA career.

You must not be aware of Mac McClung. Not only is he quite good, but he plays the stereotypical "black" game, which is quickness, and above the rim.

I always wonder how some people are defined in current times. Like I grew up around a lot of Syrians, and I always totally considered all of them white people, now I am told they are not. Also to me, a lot of Hispanics, Mexicans, Cubans etc. seem like white people, darker, but white, like Italians or Greeks. Steven Adams always seemed white to me.

He would be on the list of most competive or fiestiest. Not the coolest.

The definition of white has always been a bit fluid. All whites are Caucasian, but not all Caucasians have always been considered white. In the super racist 1800s, Irish, Italians, and especially Jews, were not considered white, at least not in America. Arabs, and Middle Easterners can range from people white enough to join the Klan, to people who look like Latinos, or even black Americans. Latinos are a mix of races, and they vary according to country. Argentinians are mostly white, while a large percentage of Mexicans are Mestizo (white/Native mix). In the nations in and around the Caribbean, slavery was well established, and there tends to be a large tri-racial population (black/white/Native mixture) Roberto Clemente was a Latino, but was obviously also black. Where it becomes harder is with someone like ARod. How do you categorize him? He's pretty light complected, but has obvious African ancestry. He looks more like what we think of as a black guy than Derek Jeter does, who is generally considered black.

Maybe I should describe myself as European-American. Galway/Aschafenburg-American is clumsy. Being white and male makes me a pariah.

And me, being Greek, why should I not get some other designation, I don't want to be white, Greeks where treated like crap by the Anglo White Heads when our people got here, want ads specified "No GREEKS", there where even massacres by the Klan of Greeks in the South.

1) Jason Maile
2) Aaron Gray
3 Chad Varga
4) Zavackas
5) Levon Kendell/ only cuz he scored 40pts in an exhibition game against the US:)

I want reparations for the hostility towards Catholics, esp. Irish, by the WASP monsters who wrote the Constitution.. I deserve a place in Sewickley....7-10 acres with a helipad.

I would agree. But he fell down on my list when he took his shoes off during the game at quit.

Add Sean Miller to your list and Miller-Maile-Varga-Zavackas and Gray make a very good starting five.
