Decision on Chris Clark could be big for Pitt...

FWIW I believe Chris mentioned this a few weeks ago on the Pantherlair show and didn't seem terribly optimistic about him getting a waiver. If my middle age memory serves me correctly he said something along the lines of the NCAA tightened up the transfer waiver rules to make them a bit stricter.
The NCAA eliminated immediate eligibility with the hardship waiver. I think it just wishful thinking of people.

The other big question is: what the heck did the #1 TE in the country do to make lowly Syracuse dump him? I'm glad we have him, but that makes me have some reservations about this kid.

If the NCAA allows him to play this coming season, that could be a BIG deal for Nate Peterman and our offense.

The kid is a great, great tightend and would be a mismatch against most college teams that try to cover him. He is faster than the average tightend, but also has the size.

He could be Pitt's version of Gronk.... and take a LOT of pressure off of our young WR corp.

If Clark can play this year, I would bet that he will lead the team in receptions. He's the kind of "security blanket" that a QB needs. He'll move the chains on 3rd down, and be a key target in the red zone.

We got good news from the NCAA today when they granted Price a 6th year. If they grant Clark the ability to play this season, that will be a BIG deal for Pitt.

Really shouldn't just see Winfree & Salamon, coaches know where to draw line

He has special circumstances that could get him an extra year, either this year or at end of career.

Our qbs tend to have boyD fixation because he's the only wide receiver who could consistently get separation in his routes from defenders.
being "fixated" on Boyd is fine, especially when we really had no other WRs so im ok with forcing balls his way.. I do believe that Chad mainly but possibly even Nate have been very poor at finding a #2 or #3 option on a pass play..

Chad wasn't even able to hit the check down, that's bad.. Nate can at least Nate can throw it to the dump off guy in the flat when the play is not open.. But back to the point, both were very bad at seeing anything besides option #1.. This is a skill you must have at this level... With no clear cut #1 WR, I fear this weakness will show even more without a superstar like Boyd..

And yet the offense nose dived with this more talented qb at the helm.
And Boyd still was the primary focus.

not sure I am getting your point. I think both Nate and Chad couldn't find a secondary receiver to save their lives...

Well, from my source he had a family illness he needed to move closer to home for. Second, he played before the semester started at UCLA, and withdrew, so it is possible he can be cleared due to not playing all of the full 2 semesters, and he is attending school now and will through summer, so he will have his 2 full semesters in at Pitt as well.
I think the murkiness is the time period from when UCLA started the semester to when he left/withdrew?

That is interesting! Too bad none of the 'Pitt beat writers' have the time to research this and figure out if there is a chance here. I know they are soooooooo busy and all, but maybe they can fit in some phone internet time between sudoku puzzles

If he played one game, then let him sit one game this season. He already sat out the remainder of last season.

I know that wont happen, but it should. I have no doubts that the kid is talented. Hopefully his head is in it now, and he realizes if he doesn't cut it at Pitt he could screw his life up. I didn't care for his flip flopping, but have to remember he was a teen. It happens.

I agree.

If he is a legit head case, then it will rear up its ugliness again here. I dont think he is though. I think he is someone that felt a bit entitled, and wants to find the right home. Hope he found it here.
