Dior… HE GONE

Talking about chancellor. You’re spot on for once SMF. He’s such a danger to the campus they let him on campus for the last 8 months while waiting appeal. A university not serious about athletics

And you have been very much anti-Dior since Day 1. This is maybe the worst admin decision I can ever remember Pitt making. Not because they kicked him out for a serious offense because I said they should have last September. But they allowed him on campus and with the team for 8 months before doing so while Capel and other potential recruits were under the impression he was our starting PG. Nobody self-imposes sanctions like Pitt.

I don't understand what the big deal is here. A troubled vagabond kid comes here and almost immediately commits a crime. It strangely took a long time, but what did Pitt do wrong? Nine months of room and board, got to practice with an ACC program, free trip to Spain. Hardly sounds like they did him an injustice. He wasn't being held hostage, if he didn't like waiting he could have left. He just didn't have any better options.

Was Capel blindsided? I doubt it. Dior didn't seem to do much in the games in Spain. Capel either knew this was coming, or found out he liked Carrington and Lowe better and didn't need a malcontent on his bench. Someone said Dior should have been allowed to stay so he could be mentored by Capel. Nine months of mentoring wasn't enough? Sure, Dior looked like a great teammate. You can be popular with your coworkers, but doesn't mean you are a productive employee.

Pitt doesn't care about sports? Should Heather and Gabel be working through the economics of conference realignment, or micro-managing a roster to suit a redshirt freshman?

I think this is only a big deal to people on here who spent 9 months looking at a 4 star recruit's name on the roster and getting themselves excited. Nobody on here knows exactly what transpired, but we need to lash out and blame someone anyhow.

The issue is there wasnt an "appeal." That was made up. He was reinstated and back on campus. The new admin kicked him off for something that was already taken into consideration when he was reinstated.

You don't know that for a fact. And even if you did, so what?

If it were a fact, its a terrible decision to kick someone off for something they had already been reinstated for. There's no way he was allowed back on campus and traveling with the basketball team pending some 9 month appeal. Lets not be stupid. The new admin didnt agree with the old decision so they kicked him out.

Now there you go using a bit of common sense .
With fans like some on this forum , who needs enemies ?

You have NO proof of that claim. Maybe the kid just left school. I hope your toxic-battery lumproller runs out of juice in a Chick-Fil-A line. (JK)

Yep! Have been to events this summer including the alliance 412 event and will be at every VLC tailgate this year except Saturday and the backyard brawl on the field and several home basketball games. You?
Great, now think about what Alliance 412 is trying to accomplish, and Heather for that matter, and what effect you are having when publicly ranting over unsubstantiated assumptions using emotionally-loaded slurs that undermine brand new university leadership that is already facing politically motivated student-led criticisms before they even get their feet under them. Think carefully about that.

This is coming from one VLC member to another.

Absolutely none. It’s an anonymous internet message board no one, and I mean no one, cares what is put on this site.

This is dumber than anything even SMF could ever say. Emotionally loaded slurs lmfao. Like calling someone Karen is equivalent to saying the N word. My god man, get a clue.

I bet the few big donors we have pull their money based on this thread. I truly do. Heather and the new chancellor will not be able to rest until this thread is shut down.

This single thread alone has more than 9,000 views. Think more carefully. Seriously, you need to think about what you are posting in any public forum. This isn't about you, so don't make it about you.

Back off the ledge dude. You need to stop making it about me. Agreed it’s NOT about me. It’s about how insanely stupid this process is.

It’s like this is your first day on an internet message board.

Says the person who continues to double down on stupid nonsense and can't ignore someone like SMF. You need post less and pay attention more.

Pitt needs to fix their title IX hearing process. Kissing Pitt’s ass on everything when clearly this was an extremely flawed process does nothing.

You know what also does nothing? Complaining about it on a message board. It doesn’t change it, nor does it change the donations or anything.

You are living up to your screen name at least

And whose fault is the Title IX hearing process?

You tell me magic 8 ball
I asked the question. I assume you can't answer because you don't know. I can tell you it falls under Pitt's Office for Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion. I can tell you the director of that office is if you want to complain about and slur her. I can tell you it had involvement from the University Faculty Assembly and Senate. I can tell you its been in place before this past year and part of it is mandated by the US Department of Education. I can tell you who had zero input into the process: the chancellor that's been on the job for just over a month. Frankly you owe her an apology or at least a retraction of your prior comments.

You want to criticize the Title IX process and the people who helped create it, that is fair. But you need to figure out what the hell you are speaking to first before casting unfounded aspersions.

And if you don't think that the lack of support over the last 30 years from fans and alumni of this school hasn't been due to a general lack of trust and faith in the leadership, a notion that you've been contributing to with nothing but BS in this thread, then you need to ask more questions and listen to more people.

Yeah I knew all of that. It’s been well covered in the pay side. As well as by many posters on the pay side I talk to off-line.

Let’s dive deeper into your comments.

1) I owe an apology to the chancellor. Answer: if she spends time reading the Pitt basketball free message board, she owes us an apology. That isn’t her job and it’s so far beneath her it’s insane. And why is calling someone “Karen” so offensive to you. It doesn’t even have a real meaning. The fact you’re so offended by it speaks volumes. Big deal, it wasn’t her doing. My god I hope she gets over being called Karen for the first time in her life because white women have never caught a break. Acting like she’s some aggrieved party because some random guy on a random website called her Karen is absurd.

2) exactly who do you think is reading the pitt basketball free board, 5 pages discussing Dior Johnson’s eligibility status and saying that’s it, I’m not giving a dime to Pitt because of this debacle. Do you think Mark Cuban was gonna save the O and donate 300k in NIL until he saw my posts?

3. I’ve read the DEI mission multiple times. I’m not sure where it says that we’re going to expel a young African American man for pleading down to misdemeanors of violence against a non student female, then let him rejoin the basketball team upon appeal, spend 9 months with the team including going to Spain and through the entire summer workouts and then pull the rug out from under him by waiting to finish the appeal right before classes. I must’ve missed that part of it.

The process was a joke. I’ve said that multiple times. It’s not a debate. If dior Johnson was such a threat to women on campus, why was he allowed to rejoin the team, be around campus for the last 9 months while wearing Pitt gear? Why was it not done in April? June? July? He should’ve been booted and not reinstate until after the hearing which should’ve happened promptly.

You’re putting way too much stock into anything on this message board meaning anything. No one cares what people say on Pantherlair. People don’t give to Pitt because besides a 8 years stretch in the late 70’s and early 80’s in football and 13 years in the 2000’s we’ve been largely mediocre in the only two important sports. Not because of what some nut job says on an internet message board.

No one is arguing about issues with process that could have been better. The point is that you flew off the handle without knowing any facts, or even how the university functions, casting aspersions, and dragging people down the rabbit hole with you. It is still all about you. You don't owe this or that despite being flat out wrong. Hell, you aren't man enough to admit when you are wrong. You'd rather argue no one will read your posts than recant a single word. Get over yourself.

I’m way over myself. I stated multiple times I was wrong about the process and tried to correct SMF in how it went down. You read what you want to read. I hope the university doesn’t go broke in athletics because of this thread. It matters so much what it said on the PantherLair

I’m not sure how you can defend the way Pitt handled this situation. I mean…. Whether you think Dior should be here or not, the process should NOT have played out until late August. Can we all agree on that?
They are typically resolved in 30 business days according to the great philosopher @pittchagg

One of the most flawed processes I’ve seen at Pitt or any other university

Yet you keep throwing the new leadership under the bus. Again and again.

Seriously, talk to people in the AD about the level of support coming in compared to peers. A major focus of for years has been trying to rectifying that, and it has been a long slow slog fighting that battle but there is finally is a change in momentum on this front and on the perception of university leadership. The whole 412 membership thing counts on people buying into the vision, a vision that will have to be supported by university leadership to have a chance at working.

There's nothing further to dwell on this topic. My recommendation, because I know you care about Pitt if you are hanging around VLC tailgates and 412 events, your words mean more than you think and are having more of an impact than you think.

Yes, agree. On the surface, it doesn't seem like it should have taken that long. But we also don't know what arrangements and requests, from both sides, that were made behind the scenes. Was there a reason it took so long to play out? If not, then that is certainly an issue. I'm not sure we should know all the details of this. I'm sure a lot of this should be kept private.

I literally said in the post you quoted I was wrong about it but it was terrible process…

Dude the words on the Pitt free message board in football season in August do not matter towards donation or perception or anything. The article SMF posted with two guys who really are clueless towards it but seem to act like they do are much more damaging to the University, the new chancellor and fundraising then some moron (yes me) on a internet message board ever could be. THAT is putting the perception out there that it was the new chancellor.

Much more damaging than this thread could ever be.

The issue is there wasnt an "appeal." That was made up. He was reinstated and back on campus. The new admin kicked him off for something that was already taken into consideration when he was reinstated.

He should have been off the team immediately after the assault. And anyone who believes this kid was going to see the court during any game this year is smoking something or is delusional. The new administration, if they kick him off the team (that is up for debate because none of us knows for sure) would be right in doing so.

We supposedly have better players who want to play Pitt basketball. Let them play and get rid of the cancers, like Johnson.

I said they should have kicked him off back then but they made the decision to reinstate him. The kid didnt do anything else wrong after being reinstated. It was wrong to use the past act to kick him off AFTER he had already been reinstated

What are the “politically motivated” criticisms?
