it’s incredibly dissapointing to see the team lose to Wake.

But if you’re being realistic it should come as no surprise. They have more talent than Pitt overall and have home court advantage

When your only consistent offensive threat is X it’s amazing this team is even able to compete in games.

With trey and Toney in a funk and brown back in la la land X and Sid are the only ACC level players on the court. I’m not going to trash the other kids but they wouldn’t see the floor on any other team in the conference

Gotta hope JC can close with some talent this year and make the team More competitive next year

It’s baffling that a kid who wants immediate Pt who wants to play against high level competition for a great guy would not want to play for this team.

I’m still all in on JC but this team has hit the wall. Alll the high expectations for the team this year need to be set aside. There is no miracle turn around. The hill was just way too steep to climb due to the dumpster fire dopey left behind

Thank you for the measured response.

I predicted 3-15 and all things considered, 3-15 would be satisfactory for this team. Most importantly, Capel desperately needs more talent and quick. Its just disappointing seeing the team get worse but I guess they have hit the proverbial wall.

Yep.

There’s a reason Pitt was a 3 point road favorite, Wake is awful.

Very tough for a young team to learn to win on the road, unfortunately tonight was a prime example of that.

Winner winner chicken dinner. The game was there for the taking. Perhaps next year X makes the free throw or our improved front court gets a key rebound or tomey or Trey has a food game.

It’s tough as a fan and I’m sure tougher as a coach or player but this is the painful growing process this team is going through

This was kind of a barometer game of hell and we're still in it. They're exasperated with no depth.

I think those 2 early wins/upsets caused people to raise their expectations to unreasonable levels. This team still just isn’t good. At all.

I said that this team will go as X and McG go and hope that guys have nights. And I still believe that although Frame’s come on some. X has remained fantastic but McG has been struggling which has hurt bad.

I'm not disappointed very much with the loss. I'd be most disappointed if I were a Wake fan this many years into Manning's wasted tenure.

The tournament talk was ridiculous. I thought maybe they’d get to 6 ACC wins after those first two wins, but never thought NIT even.

I said 4 at the start of the year, and will stick with that.

Winning on the road in the ACC against any team is tough. For some reason, teams can beat us when they play on the road, though. Obviously, the disparity in talent is still there, though not nearly as bad as last year when we had no real ACC-level players except for maybe JWF. And even he would be on the bench on most of ACC teams.

I agree with everyone who said we need more ACC talent on this team in every position. X is pretty good, but it wouldn't hurt to have someone to push him a little and make him better. And Trey is so puzzling. He has the potential to be great, but he's just hitting that wall now. Maybe both of them are tired now with this ACC grind.

If we can pull out 2 more wins this year, that's about all that can be expected at this juncture. Then we need some kids who are top 100 talent to sign on the dotted line. Otherwise next year may be a repeat of this year.

I think 4 is probably their ceiling now. Recently I was thinking 4 - 6 ACC wins, with 6 as their ceiling. But I'm having a hard time seeing where 2 more wins will come from now.

I thought it was too but wasn’t gonna get into it. Things were so bad last year any signs of positivity were blown out of proportion. Capel wasn’t gonna fix things in one class. Hell I don’t listen to too much per game or post game but I’ve heard him say a number of times that he knew what he was getting into when he took this job. I get taken aback because he’s pretty much saying he knew he took over a pile of dung and some of those players are still on his team.

I still think they have 5 out of the 8 remaining games they have left that are winnable. The home games with Clemson and Notre Dame are winnable and I think the 3 road games at BC, Georgia Tech and Miami are winnable as well. I wouldn’t rule out a potential upset at home either on Saturday against NC State. If McGowens can get it going again I think Pitt has a chance to win at least maybe 3 possibly 4 of those 8 remaining games.

Weren't you talking about the NIT? How does 3-15 get a team to the NIT?

Plus other teams have scouted and figured out how to play Pitt . Any win will be an accomplishment.

Louisville and FSU weren't able to come to us and win on the road.
