Efton Reid Announcing 05/07 At Noon

Depends on your definition of “cheating”

The “Blue Chips” image of a gym bag with stacks of cash is really the outlier (obviously they do it much smarter). The money is really concentrated around a comparatively small group of guys. A guy ranked in the 50-75 range isn’t getting a house like Zion got from Duke (allegedly). Cars are pretty common as those are easy to hide, but the whole image of “dropping a bag” is really not the norm.
So we don't even know how to cheat?

You assume I’m thinking he’s choosing Pitt , I can’t think of one reason a kid that talented would choose Pitt right now .

I‘m impressed that Pitt is even in the conversation .

Sooner or latter an elite kid will just want to play for JC and that’s the break this program needs .

There’s obviously more to his decision than woman and weather otherwise he’d go to Miami.

If the NCAA tourney was a major consideration Pitt wouldn’t have gotten this far .
So here’s the 3 options on the table in your mind:
1. overtime elite league has made him an offer which is rumored to be the pause in decision. They offer AT LEAST 100k. For someone like him, prob closer to 200k.
2. He goes to LSU and he gets paid and his mon gets a job.
3. He comes to Pitt (which I think he still will) but he does it for a scholarship and a meal plan.

I mean you can’t be effing serious?

Honestly, am I the only one who isn’t upset here?

Shouldn’t we applaud a kid who would rather delay a commitment and weigh (new?) options rather than one who commits and then ends up decommitting?

Shouldn’t we be happy that he has an involved parent helping him make such a big decision?

So FSU and UNC are out?

Are you serious?? You’re skipping the part where he has twice said “I’ve made my decision and I’m announcing it tomorrow.” I don’t think anyone has a problem with waiting to make the right decision. But don’t make a big deal about your announcement- twice, and then not make it. It definitely shows his maturity level is lower than your average 18 year old. It absolutely shows the adult isn’t much help.

And in both cases it sounds like there was last minute involvement from a new interest. No problem pausing to evaluate.

Absolutely. But some parents cross the line and make it about them at times too. So I think that’s where some of the angst comes from.

I took a look at mama’s Twitter feed yesterday. She’s not really all that active on Twitter so it seems to me she’s just a good parent looking out for her kid and also is excited for him and his future. If she was trying to make it about her I’d expect a lot more activity.

I know nothing of course, just the way it seems to me.

So now your a mind reader !

If the kids as good as his billing big money will be in his future and since I don’t know the kid or his mom I just like you and everyone else have no idea what their thinking and what’s important to them .

It would be nice for Pitt if he chooses to spend a yr here , but just like everyone else we’ll know when he wants us to know. .

I agree. Why not just STFU and do what any normal kid would do and not announce when you're making a decision, then make it. No need for the immature drama. Even if you do decide to announce and when, hold to it. Hey kid, you're just a kid who wants to go to college and play some game. Get real!

Yep
It’s just that simple

Because old guys like you need something to talk about

You’ve posted on these boards long enough to know this has been a low key and private recruit even with the delayed commitment. But hey. Any chance for you to show your absolute disdain for college athletes.

I’m not a mind reader. I’m presenting to you the 3 options he has in your mind.
1. Overtime league - get paid
2. LSU - get paid
3. Pitt - not get paid

that’s what you have stated. If he goes to LSU it’s because he got paid. He has two options to get paid and one to not. That’s how you explained it. I’m simply pointing out how naive you are being. He clearly has 3 options to get paid if we’re still involved after 3 years unless you are calling our staff dumb. Because our staff would have to be dumb to be in it this long if the kid is looking for a bag to not figure that out.

do you get it now?

Now there’s also the option that:
1. Goes to overtime and gets paid
2. Goes to LSU because it’s the best option and doesn’t get laid
3. Goes to Pitt and doesn’t get paid

But you ruled that out. You said if he’s going to LSU it’s because he’s paid therefore implying our coaches are dumb for wasting 3 years on him.

Because old guys like you need something to talk about

So now it's not just about race with you, but age? With age comes wisdom. Grow up.

Besides, I don't think I post as much as you do on this board. You have more posts in one day than I have in a month.

It would be a rather questionable move to choose LSU knowing you’re not going to get laid.

I’m not an emoji guy but it looks like he’s laughing at that statement

Perhaps mom is trying to give him a deadline to make a decision - and Efton just hasn’t yet ?
Would be a pretty reasonable explanation, no?
Really, who cares. We all just want to know if the basketball team will have a center or not.

I heard he was holding out for a Game of Death reboot starring him and Jeremy Lin... Where's Howard Baldwin when you really need him.

The adult is making sure that a teenage boy doesn't make an impulsive decision. The kid is under a lot of competing pressures trying to influence his choice. He tweeted out a couple of things, but it certainly wasn't him a made a big deal out it. What normal middle aged men follow a 17 year old kid on Twitter, hang on his choice of where to go to college and then bag on him for not being able to make up his mind?

I agree with you about middle aged men following a 17 year old on Twitter and hanging on his choice is weird.
But scheduling your announcement twice and cancelling it twice is certainly strange.
My 18 year old daughter just finished deciding where she will go to college in the fall, and it wasn’t an easy decision.
But if I would have scheduled a zoom meeting with my family and friends to announce her decision (I would never do that) and then canceled it at the last minute, and then scheduled it again two weeks later and canceled it again. I guarantee my Dad, brothers and sisters, and friends would ALL be calling me up and giving me a hard time after the second announcement cancellation.
