Here's why Pitt can't expect to back in with a loss....

In the other high-major conferences, some teams that are currently out WILL make it run. It happens every year.

Ohio State, LSU, FSU, Clemson, VT, Georgia, Marquette, Creighton, Washington.... they're all possibilities.

If one or more of those makes a run to their conference finals, or even semi-finals, they likely pass the loser of the Pitt-Syracuse game.

The loser of Pitt-Syracuse needs a perfect storm to get into Dayton. They need the favorites to win in almost all the other conference tournaments to keep teams that are behind them... behind them.

Pitt needs to win.
