Hinson

Interesting, most of the leadership there came from UPMC
I would take what Dakich says about WVU with a grain of salt. They have plenty of rich boosters that I’m sure are all funding the hoops team this year and plan to fund football when Neal Brown is canned. They have that guy, they have old coal money, they have the little general guy who owns like 97 gas stations in the state, they have a bunch of people who make money in the absolute dumbest ways you can

Hey, who’s the first athlete featured on that newly-designed Alliance 412 website?

I noticed that but its been that way since before he announced I think. And Greg Elliot is still on there. Someone needs to update it again. Maybe in a few months when they will. And why the heck is Bub Means featured?

Redesigning their website means very little. I am waiting for a benefits system like the Panther Club and the Country Roads Trust offers.
LOL. So you’ve moved the goalposts again. I can’t wait to see what excuse you think up next.

Nobody will judge you if you just admit you’re too cheap.

I am not. I am being really honest here. I want to know they are trying and by trying, I want to know they are at least doing what WVU is doing. There isnt any reason why we cant.

Actually, they can’t. Because Pitt has cheap fans like you who won’t open their wallets. How do you not get what you just said was absolutely mind bendingly dumb

Thuggins can promise the transfers whatever they want and not deliver on them. No repercussions if this is his last year.

I know Pitt has cheap fans but these NIL funds are being set up like scholarship funds.....in that they have benefits. Donate so much and get access to a talk show or an autograph or luxury box seats to a game or whatever. I dont need any of that stuff. But I just want to know Pitt is trying and to me, that is trying just as hard as WVU. By your logic, they shouldn't even have the Panther Club because they have cheap fans.

If Hinson doesn't return

PG- Dior, Lowe

SG-Leggett, Carrington

SF-Austin, Barnes

PF-Jorge, Jeffress

C- Fede, Kante, Guillermo
There’s no way Guillermo is that buried… or do you have the twins mixed up maybe?

I agree about Guillermo.
He will undoubtedly be
improved. Both he and
Kante could both play
the 4 and 5 depending on
matchups and the need
at the moment. This gives
Capel options. Of course
with Hinson, the options
inside are even greater,
and we're obviously better.

Having fans invested in any schools sports team starts with having students invested in their athletic teams . Pitts on again off again desire to excel at both Fb and Bb has hurt its ability to have alumni who believe deeply enough to dig deep into their pockets to fund their teams of choice . The more involved the students are the greater the likelihood that someone whose become exceedingly wealthy feels compelled to become involved in a major way . Donating $50 or $100 or even $1000 adds up if you have enough of those fans , but what Pitt really needs is someone with unlimited funds to adopt the Bb or Fb team . The earnings off a 20/30. million dollar initial donation would establish a kitty that should fund the Bb NIL program forever .

There's no scenario where Guillermo isn't getting more minutes than Jorge, probably a ton more.

He either mixed them up or didn't watch the Pitt NCAA tournament games.

I would add that without Hinson, that lineup won't get Pitt to the NCAAs this year. Next year maybe, but not this year.

Elliott was a helluva rebounder last year from the 3 position. So was Sibande.
True. Both Elliott and
also Sibande rebounded
very well. Surprising to
see Elliott rebounding,
since his game was on
the outside as a 3 pt.
specialist. Now that
Hinson is back, it'll be
interesting if rebounding
becomes part of his game.
IMO he has the height and
strength to do more on
the inside and still be a
3 pt. threat.

The 2023-24 #Pitt Panthers:
G Dior Johnson
G Ishmael Leggett
G Jaland Lowe
G Carlton Carrington
F Zack Austin
F Blake Hinson
F Guillermo Diaz Graham
F Jorge Diaz Graham
F Will Jeffress
F Marlon Barnes Jr.
C Fede Federiko
C Papa Kante
Panthers have 1 open scholarship remaining

He was the teams leading rebounder

He was the teams leading rebounder

I realize his talent and
his value to this team.
Yes, he was the leading
rebounder on a poor
rebounding team. I also
believe he could be more
of an effective inside
presence and still give
us the outside threat
with his 3 pt. shooting.

That's almost hard to believe about Elliott. There were a lot of times he was just standing around.

His rebound splits were 1.3 on offense and 13.7 on defense. His defensive rebounding was just fine and certainly not great, but on offense he was terrible rebounding the ball.

None of our guards rebounded well on the offensive end this past year.

If you compare this to the 2011 team which was the last time we had a really good team, guys like Wanamaker and Brown were pushing a rebound rate of 6 on the offensive end. Elliot was 1.3, Cummings was a 1, and Sibande a 2.7. Nate Santos was a 3.

We will get the biggest overall rebounding boost and defensive boost in rebounding this year by trading out Dior for Cummings which is going to be a massive difference, Kante playing minutes both at the 4 and 5, and Guillermo taking more than a split in minutes at center or playing some 4. Leggett is also better on the boards than any of our guards from this past season.

We should be far better on the glass next year.

Are you of the opinion that Fede just is not a good rebounder - that it has nothing to do with the team that was around him last year?

but on offense he was terrible rebounding the ball.

As a spot up shooter spending the majority of every offensive possession outside the arc, would you expect him, or anyone else used similarly, to have good ORB numbers?

Chescat - why do every one of you posts show up as three or four word lines per row while every else's posts go the whole way across the usable space? Do you constantly hit "enter" by mistake?

Really just curious

Jordan Hawkins of Uconn made 109 three balls in D1 last year. 63% of Hawkins total shots last year were from 3 point range. Hawkins had an OR rebound rate of 4. And Uconn had the #2 ranked rebound margin in D1 college basketball and won the national championship.

This is the difference. If Pitt wants to be a bubble NCAA Tournament team again (which was just fine after the last 8 or so years), stick with Greg Elliot type players.

If Pitt wants to go deeper in the NCAA Tournament, then replace the Greg Elliot and Joe Girard types and recruit better more athletic players that get after it on the glass while still shooting at a high level.

And this is a great discussion point for this season regarding Papa Kante. It seems the majority of the people here want better offense while sacrificing defense and rebounding once again which was last seasons downfall. If we are to increase our defensive efficiency and rebounding by a large margin, we are going to run 2 bigs a lot more often than we have been doing in a long time.

I think it is quite realistic Kante can / potentially will force his way into bigger minutes at the expense of other players that can shoot better from the outside.

If that's the case and he doesn't show improvement early on, then GDG needs to start, if not Kante.

I don' think Fede is going to start. And even if he does, I don't think he is getting more minutes overall than Guillermo "overall". And Im not sure if Fede is going to get more minutes overall than Kante regardless of who who plays where.

I don't think who starts is really all that important. The big question I have this offseason is whether Blake Hinson plays exclusively at the 4. If our frontcourt is as potentially as good as I think it can be and Kante is as good on the boards and rebounding as he was in the EYBL, I don't think Hinson stays at the 4 full time. I think Guillermo / Kante will take some minutes there with Pitt going big.

It's been happening on
here for years, even after
I got a new computerv.Ok,
here a test. I'll try and set
the next fee.w sentences
across the whole row. Let
me know if it works.

Ok, here it is. I'm typing this line across most of the page. So, what do
you see? Any difference? It looks good on my end but not sure how it
appears to everyone else. If it self corrects, I'll be happy and it'll be less
of a pain in the ass to other posters on here.

Here’s how it looks on my phone. I don’t know how it looks on a computer screen, I only check the boards on my phone.

It’s not a huge deal, and I’d bet it’s your browser or something. It looks kinda like it looks when I copy text from a .pdf and paste the text over to a word document.
