Pitt will eventually get their commitments but lets face it the big time programs will be getting the good transfers and the mediocre teams will get the mediocre transfers just like the recruiting of high school prospects. They dont recruit at Duke they select who they want like NDame in football . At least Duzz has made some recent hires of young aggressive hires with solid geographic contacts.

It is a big loss. He was someone most posters were excited to sign and you lose him to a better team In your conference that you are trying to catch up to. A team within only five experienced scholarship players, not counting Justin, cannot continue to lose recruiting battles with teams within the conference. Will Capel find someone better? The odds don’t look good right now.
There are 30 Jarrod West's available. 1 will go to Pitt. The guy averaged 12 in a bad league. He's Horton/Sibande. That's it.

The beginning. I shared it on the pay board he even had the graphic made up. Nobody and I mean nobody involved thought he was going anywhere but Pitt. Louisville and Mack played the National Championship song and flipped him telling him he was the missing piece. Coach Capel wasn’t singing that song. West was a solid player but he wasn’t beating Femi out to be the PG and he wasn’t going to be the missing piece here.

There was a live interview with his kid that I watched about 5 days ago where he specifically talked about wanting to join a winning program to compete for Championships. This isnt a source, Jody Demling, Jake Weingarten, or some friend at Marshall. It was a livestream video that came directly out of West's mouth where I watched the kid speak about a few of the teams and what he was looking for in a college. I told this board the same exact thing with regard to Reid and the G league not contacting him yet although that was maybe a month back. The source was West himself.
If you want to believe the stuff about flipping in the last 1 hour of the day then that is on you. I issued the warnings long before that with regard to Louisville coming hard. It is what it is.
Ill say one other thing. I was watching West's twitter feed and he kept adding Louisville coach after Louisville coach after Louisville media figures on his feed day after day. If a player is starting to add a bunch of people associated at a program all at the same time day after day right before a commitment, let me tell you something, its major trouble because the warning signs were there.
The fact he talked to multiple Louisville coaches on multiple different days was the 3rd confirmation major trouble was lurking.
Im not trying to sound arrogant here. But the warning signs were like a red sign with flashing sparking glitter lights all over it. If you missed the warning signs, I dont know what to tell you.
It was with the same thing with RJ Davis when I said a million times that Williams would take both Love and Davis and no one wanted to believe me. I told this board Williams flew into NY to get him. They thought UNC was done because of Love. Nope. Williams closed the deal on Davis.

Not really, some of us are far removed from this stuff but enjoy inside info, after studying from the outside I wondered why JW hadn't all ready committed, and like everyone else was pulling for him to get on board, mostly to start building some momentum, plus he seems like a really good teammate, etc., it makes following Pitt interesting , so if you have info, we want to here it.

People are going to get stuff wrong and that is ok. Recruits are going to change their minds at any point in time and that is ok. Hell, Calipari flipped a kid on signing day for pete sake. I get it, its a slimy game and stuff happens.
The thing that irks me with this whole saga is someone saying that the other teams were all windrow dressing for a Pitt commit and that Louisville didnt really offer when it maybe looked like Pitt. That was the biggest pile of bullshit posted on here in a while. Louisville wanted him from day 1 with a firm offer on the table.
With that said, Im done talking about this kid.

The three you have mentioned are the high school kids that the staff feels really good on. Reid as has been discussed is at a 3 team list narrowed down as of now on Pitt-LSU-Maryland
Santos- long shooter 6’7 and a sniper. Knee issues derailed his recruiting loves the ACC opportunity at Pitt.
Blakes- If he was 6’5 he is probably a top 50 ranked player he is 6’2 but is very very long. Flat out stud potential.
Capel is looking to fill the other 2 spots with transfers. Think one transfer to add to the depth at G with Femi-Nike-Ithiel
Other spot an impact big who can fill some quality minutes.
I know it doesn’t seem like it but Coach Capel is in good shape with some different guys and should be able to put together a nice 5 man class. West was a nice depth piece but was never the absolute top of the board.

I do agree a 3 man HS class with 1 being Reid and the other main one being Blakes is pretty ideal and then 2 transfers, a big and a swing guard, would be great. We gotta land one first. I'm very much in a show me state of mind now.

Hmm. Hung out with a couple ladies from P’ville and Ironton close to 30 years ago while working there for a short while.. River would flood P’ville properties along the Ohio. Loved Huntington and Robby’s (Don Robinson).
Pitt better bring in more than 2 transfers - Jeffress and Collier are not ready to play - Justin and Hugley questionable on return
An off-season of development will be huge for Jeffress. He will be just fine. Not sure on Collier, but he can’t be written off either.
Thought Collier showed me a little in the last game. But just a lil and there's no telling when the lights can go on for him. I kept hearing other players on the team talk about how athletic he is.
