Jeff Capel is a flying machine

-I DID NOT predict 16 wins. I DID NOT predict anything. I said this is what Pitt needs to do. This is why my posts get taken out of context, you guys dont read
Steel,
From football to basketball I appreciate your optimism. But I can't recall any of your many predictions ever being accurate as far as what ended up happening.

Steel,
From football to basketball I appreciate your optimism. But I can't recall any of your many predictions ever being accurate as far as what ended up happening.

-Because I have not given a Pitt win prediction in 2 years. The last time I predicted anything in terms of record was with James Conner 2 years ago when I said 8+ wins minimum. We got 8. And I said Pitt would finish 3rd or 4th Stallings first year. Well Stallings put Artis at point guard, the players were more concerned with the Casino and getting drafted then basketball, and my basketball prediction crashed and burned. 2 years later Stallings has been proven to be a complete waste with everything basketball related. As for Justice Kithcart, we'll see what he does the next 3 years. Everything Stallings related gets thrown out the window.

-I barely posted last year. As I said, I traveled most of the year. The only thing I said in regardless to football is that it would be very difficult to meet Vegas win total of 5.5 wins this year because of schedule difficulty. As for basketball, the only thing Ive predicted thus far is that Pitt should win 10+ games in the non conference. I also said Pitt should win multiple ACC games, but did not predict how many.

-Walker cuts list to 4. Will Announce October 20th. Jeff Capel has not visited I dont believe since Miami trip.

Jamie Dixon is a very good coach. I am not going to argue that. But the bar of 25 wins isn’t fair or accurate. Dixon was 40-27 and 17-19 in the ACC his last 2 years. The ACC is a completely different animal than the Big East. We are also playing more conference games moving forward, so you need to take away a couple cupcake wins.

The Big East was at least the equal of the ACC and could be better, depending on how you look at it. Pitt was more than competitive in the Big East and was winning BE Championships and was ranked #1. Pitt getting to 25 wins someday, I believe, is a realistic and reasonable goal. It won't happen for at least 4 years, but it's a goal and should be expected.

-I dont think you understand how difficult it is to recruit when your team is 0-19 in conference play. Doubling Stallings win total in year 1 shows monumental improvement and makes it much easier to recruit a year from today.

Oh I know how difficult it is to recruit when your program was in the dumper last year and couldn't even win 1 lousy game in the league. That's why I think getting to 25 wins should be the expectation, but only after Capel has been at this for at least 4 years and probably longer. The damage that Stallings and Barnes did to this program will be hard to reverse in 4 years.

I was referring to all the predictions since you began posting.

Short of winning a national championship, Pitt's biggest accomplishment for the foreseeable future will still be finishing 15-3 and winning the BE in 2011 when the conference had 11 bids, including the eventual national champion who was only 9-9.

3 #1 seeds
6 teams with 1-3 seeds
5 teams in the Elite 8

Pitt won the best conference in the history of college basketball....outright

Southpoint in Vegas was the first place in the world to post win totals and they opened Pitt at 5 wins -125. I posted that I played it at that number and they moved to 5 -135. Numerous times I mentioned that if anyone wanted to play Pitt over they should hurry up and grab the 5 while it was still there. When betting win totals with such a short season getting that extra half game is monumental. Absolutely no way I would’ve played Pitt over 5.5.

Not sure of the # of visits a coach can make to a recruit, etc., but hopefully Capel gets one more before Walker's decision on Saturday.

is that 5 total wins including out of conference ? must be ACC wins only ?

-Walker to Miami looks to be done unless there is a last second switch although very very unlikely.

-I wish the season started already...

Steel, you are honestly really bad luck. Just about everything you say, the opposite happens.

Capel getting dangerously close to whiffing in the crucial early signing period.

-LOL.... I was the first to break the information on Mcgowens, Johnson, and Toney on this board last spring. People should be a lot more excited about those 3 as opposed to talking about stupid shit like Jamie Dixon or your hype on Marcus Carr.

-There is no such thing as a whif until the 2019 recruiting period for the entire year is over. Walker fits what Capel is trying to do. He's a major athlete. If Miami doesnt up the tempo and go to a full court press or some type of attacking defense, he wont flourish to his potential (Miami's tempo was slow last year) . He shoots from his neck with a very ugly shot. But with all this twitter followers lately from Miami, he looks to be thinking he is the next Isiah Epps 1 and done. That appears to be Miami's angle and selling point to him, we buy players and they play in the NBA in 1-2 years. He isnt close to being anywhere near that good. Superior athlete, raw on offense.

-Recruiting will be hard because no one can physically see Capels style of play and everyone sees Pitt is 0-19 in the ACC last year, posted nonstop in negative recruiting against Pitt on every social media site and message board. The narrative can be switched November 6th. Just win

One four-star prospect who does have announcement plans in place is

Anthony Walker
.

The athletic four man from Baltimore who is at Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster for his senior year has cut things down to Boston College, Illinois, Miami and Pittsburgh. He doesn't need long to make a choice and he's planning to announce on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Things seem to be pretty tight here, especially between Miami and Pitt. Both have been considered strong contenders for a while, so one or the other wouldn't really surprise.

-Except he added over 10 people from Miami today, including Miami targets and NBA players. Our last pitch was today. Unless there is some last minute switch, he's all Miami

Watching Steel flail and try and reverse course and change his argument is absolutely comical.

It's also funny that he's saying "wait til the 2019 recruiting cycle is over" because that's exactly what I said two pages ago when he was thumping his chest over how hard Capel was working compared to Dixon. My point still stands. Until better recruits are signed on paper, there's no difference between Dixon, Stallings, or Capel when it comes to being in the top 5 for good players.

Also, I'm calling BS that you were the first to break info on McGowens, Toney, and Johnson. Let's see the receipts.

-Capel is outworking Jamie Dixon and Sleepy Stallings. The 2018 class was better then anything Dixon or Stallings did the last 5 years combined at Pitt.

The 2018 class was good. A great start for Capel. But if he strikes out on all his top targets for 2019, I don't know how you can claim he's outworking Dixon or Stallings.

We all want Pitt to be better. That starts on the recruiting trail.

Dixon worked very hard on the recruiting trail. Landed in a ton of Top 5s and Top 3s, just couldn’t close.

Corey Evans latest.

Rivals150 forward

Anthony Walker
made news on Saturday by tweeting that he would be making his college decision on Oct. 20. He took things a step further by publishing his final four of schools, a group consisting of Pittsburgh, Miami, Illinoisand Boston College.

The former three making his final list was no surprise but it was a bit intriguing to see Boston College, a program that, unlike Rhode Island, made the final cut while the Rams, as recently as August, were thought to be a heavy contender and were able to host Walker for an official visit just three weeks ago.

Walker, a native of Baltimore, will return to his home base on Friday as he is currently finishing his prep career at Brewster Academy, in New Hampshire. He is expected to talk things over with his family before coming to a final decision. While Illinois and BC made the final list, this has been more of a two-horse race for the past several weeks between Pitt and Miami.

The Hurricanes have gained most of the talk of late and no one has squelched rumors that Miami is where he will commit to on Saturday. That being said, Miami is my best guess but much could still change in the coming days as Jeff Capelhas proven that he is one of the best recruiters nationally and could still find a way to sway Walker before he puts his recruitment to bed.

It all depends on what you like , if warm weather , the sun , blue skys, the beach , and a lot of pretty girls factors into his decision Pitt is in trouble.
Until he signs Pitt still has a chance especially if the scandal takes Miami down . Even if he signs with Miami there's always a chance if the NCAA comes down on them he'll be released from his commitment . Never say never .
Life will go on either way !

Corey Evans-

The best chance that Pitt has in landing one of its frontcourt targets is in

Akok Akok
A top 35 forward prospect in the 2019 class, he visited during a rare mid-week trip last week and is done with his official visit tour. His other finalists, Syracuse, UConn, Georgetown and Providence, have already hosted the multi-dimensional forward, though getting a pulse on him and with where he is leaning has been difficult. A signing is likely in the cards for next month, either way, as the Huskies have garnered most of the talk along with Pitt.

Beyond Akok,

Qudus Wahab
a Rivals150 center who will take an official visit to Pitt this weekend, is the next likely option. Along with the Panthers, Virginia Tech and UConn are thought of as its top competitors for the big man’s commitment. I do not see Pitt missing on both this fall.

Quit being a racist Joey...

totally inappropriate and unnecessary here.

Haha. I saw this awhile ago. Southern Democrats were always redneck hillbillies. Then, after the Civil Rights Act of 1963, they started moving over to the Republican Party. The Republican Party started getting whiter and dumber which caused it to lose its more sophisticated members.

Basically the pre-1963 Democratic party is the current Republican party.

You're what's sickening about the left side, the definition of a hypocrite. Re-read what you just wrote.

Doesn't the left repeatedly screech out 'down with hate' and generalization nonsense?
