-Wisconsin is officially OUT, they dont have the ships. Notre Dame blocked Michigan State, he cannot transfer there. And Florida is not their top target.

-Huge smoke coming out it could be Pitt, and Pitt could start in the Top 15 in the country next year if it happens.

-Steve Wiltfong who runs 247 said its a no brainer to Pitt

-Very exciting potential news

That would be great. Let's get him here for Spring Ball. We will have a nice competition between TMac, Zaire, Schneider, Pickett, and DeNucci.

I feel very comfortable that he will be a Panther. I am usually against transfers and Jucos but in this case, as Duzz is re-building the program, this move would go a great distance in getting our QB depth chart back on track.

Is he any good

-Hard to say just how good. He was the 2014 MVP of the Music City bowl win over LSU. In 2015 he was the starter until a season ending injury. Had a QBR rating of 187 with 500 pass yards, 100 rush yards and 4 TD's vs Texas and Virginia with Zero turnovers.

-So yes, he can certainly play and play well. Would be awesome to have him and TMAC on the same team, let the best man win.

YEP.
As long as Big Mac is legit, they need one more back fill to reset poor QB recruiting and lost classes from 2012, 13, 14. Let him get one more year to mature physically and mentally, and maybe take a few snaps.
Meanwhile, next year's team is going to be a strong coastal contender and Zaire is a really good fit for Canada's offense.
This would be a really nice fit for everyone.

That would be GREAT NEWS for PITT to start next year! Obviously, I believe it would give credence to our upward surge in perception and make us an even more potent foe with his skill set.

Pitt will start out in the top 15 based largely on the fact that they acquired a second string QB from a 4-8 team?

Unless they absolutely need the scholly for someone there's nothing to lose by taking him. In fact it would be dumb not to. We really don't know what we got even though ppl are excited about MacV. Bring him and and let them battle it out. The more competition for playing time the better. If he stinks he's out the door in a year.

In that article it states that TMAC was the #91 rated player in his recruiting class? Am I reading that right? I had no idea he was that highly regarded.

I'm on the fence with Zaire. There's definite potential there for this to be a successful move but on the other hand is this guy way overrated? His career at ND has amounted to next to nothing and the two games another poster referenced above were against two god-awful teams. Maybe it's better (longterm) to stick with TMAC?

-You are reading that correctly. He exploded up the rankings because he played a Top 5 schedule in the country, averaged 400 passing yards per game, and had something like 25 TD's with 1 INT. Its why LSU was all over him trying to steal him. That and he runs a 4.5 40

I don't know the rules on graduate transfers. Can ND block a transfer anywhere? I was under the impression a graduated player could immediately transfer anywhere that offered a grad program not available at the original school. That was just my impression. Anybody know the details of the rule?

My guess is the young man will get at least some assurance the starting job is his to lose at where ever he lands. He's not going to transfer somewhere to start on a level playing field with QBs already in the system. If he lands at Pitt, it is because the staff has told him the job is his unless he bombs.

I understand that. I mean, if they really wanted him, they'd make room for him.
from what i have read, if they thought they had a chance they would have room.

i like it for 2 reasons, 1 obviously that he looks like he is probably pretty good and could help us a lot. 2. his name, we will get a ton of publicity, air time, better telivised games, more votes in polls, etc etc for the same exact thing but with HIM doing it instead of a guy no one has ever heard of if hes average or even slightly above.

Not sure if a team can bock any team but in this case ND blocked any teams on next year's schedule.

I for one want to see MC get a chance to build his offense around having both Zaire and TMAC on the field together. Can you imagine the creativity of his moving offense having this big mobile QB along with another mobile QB in TMAC running the show. I can see lots of options with the talent he would have to work with. This would also give TMAC one more year to grow and get ready to take control the following year while still getting significant field time next year. Perfect scenario if you ask me.

24/7 ranked him off of his senior year play- it's a novel idea in recruiting ranking world but they did it. I believe they said at the time that he was as good as any QB in that class. He's a great prospect to develop but really why would anyone want him starting in Happy Valley over Zaire?

He looks pretty damn good in that game doesnt he?

-Notre Dame has a QB named Kizer who's listed as a 1st round NFL draft pick this year. So this player being a backup means nothing moving forward. He's already proven he can win games as he has a bowl win against LSU, a win vs the ACC in Virginia, and a win vs the Big 12 in Texas, among others.

-Yes, he looks good. And both he and TMAC could form a dynamite offense next year.

I think they technically can block any school they want to - look what Stallings did to Jeter while he was at Vandy. Typically what they do and is considered "acceptable" is block anyone they'll be playing in the future. And as was speculated in Jeter's case - anyone thought to be "tampering".
