It was fun while it lastedTHE BEST MANAGEMENT TEAM IN SPORTS.
The way Liriano has been pitching, surely no great loss. And since the owner and management are not interested in winning this year, why not just save some cash?
You really can't make up your mind- constantly flip flopping on Nutsack and crew. I'm clear on one thing-they're bums!THE BEST MANAGEMENT TEAM IN SPORTS.
NH makes his big move, just more attempts to save money which clearly indicate their view that the season is in the toilet. Anyone who is surprised hasn't been paying attention for 8 years.
Oh no Saber is never wrong.....Still haven't seen anything official on that one, but what I did see is . . . that the Pirates sent Jon Niese back to the Mets for . . . Ol' Dirty Bastardo! So, essentially they gave the Mets Neil Walker for nothing. No matter what statistical metric you use to evaluate Walker, clearly the Pirates lost the "WAR" there.
Oh no Saber is never wrong.....
Walker is a lousy second baseman.
His defensive numbers are better than Harrison's this year. Walker is a 2.7 WAR player, Niese is garbage, as is Harrison.
To get Toronto (another small market team)
Harrison is 25th of 25 qualifying 2B in OBP. He is 24th in wRC+. He is garbage.Harrison is not garbage. You, on the other hand . . .
agree Lriano isn't the problem he is a aging pitcher who has been bad all season. Chances are he won't get it back next year and he will be making 17 million. But this is basically a salary dump and they gave away a solid prospect to save some money, they couldn't get the blue jays to take the salary without a prospect.I don't think anyone's too upset about dealing Liriano. But including Ramirez and getting Hutchison as the return doesn't seem good.

Toronto a small market team? In what universe is that true? Surely not this one.
If Toronto were in the United States it would be the fifth biggest city in the country. It is almost the same size as Dallas/Fort Worth. It's larger than Philadelphia. And it is also the only team in it's whole country, so they actually get more television money than their actual market size would suggest.
The notion that Toronto is a small market is, well, bizarre.
You got it-a pure money dump. That's what cheap, pi$$ poor owners do!I defended the Melancon trade but this one ticks me off. We basically traded McGuire and Ramirez in exchange for Toronto agreeing to take Liriano's contract off our hands.
What a joke.
You do if you're Nutsack and the bottom line is all that counts.Liriano is making $13.667m next year, not $17m.
$13.667m is market value for Liriano. He's having a down season but he's a decent bet to get back in track.
You don't deal two top ten prospects to get rid of that contract unless you are getting a legit player in return.
So, we can't trade a prospect , for a good player, to make a run , but we can trade two prospects to make money for the owner. You can't make this up , and it will be defended!
