NCAA Tournament Thread

I think we are about to witness the David Carr era beginning. I think he will be a 4x guy

Shoot. I can't say I am speaking from a position of authority here but, it looked like our guy Jake was a bit too patient in the first two periods when he drove him out of the circle a few times.

I don't understand the challenge.

I didn't follow closely enough but, was the knee injury during this tournament? Or during the season?

I dont understand Jake taking him to the edge with those underhooks either. At least try to spin him back to the mat a draw a stalling call

I honestly have no explanation for how he wrestled that match from a strategy standpoint other than nerves. He wrestled that way during the first match and survived. He was also able to scramble against the OU guy and score. This guy did a nice job of avoiding that with his length

That is where my comment was targeted. Could it be that the knee prevented him from making a twist/spin attempt?

Griffiths did a good job keeping Jake from turning the corner. But I do wish he would sprawl on occasion. Its far easier to get two on you from your back side now than it used to be so please fight off a shot once in a while

No. He didnt hurt the knee until the end of the match. It happened in the scramble after his desperation granby roll

I loosely follow Pitt wrestling, especially when guys do well. Can anyone explain why va tech fans are commenting/celebrating that Jake lost. I don’t understand. Thanks in advance.

Right Too often he seems to walk right into a single leg.

Their 165 wrestler was NC in 2019. Took last year off to train and came back this season sure he would repeat. In the duel meet Jake Was controlling him when VT wrestler hurt shoulder and had to default. Im sure they think That their kid would have beat Jake but for the injury. Jake, however, was controlling the kid very well when injured. VT wrestler I believe had to defaultout of this championship as well.

That's pretty petty. Especially in a sport like wrestling where an injury is always so close to happening.

I hate the State Pen Nitters just as much as the next guy but, damn, they really have been a machine. That takedown of the Iowa kid in OT was impressive.
Yeah, that reshot was a thing of beauty

Not sure how closely you follow but They have the best staff and the best RTC therefore the best training partners.

Thank you. Makes sense with all the karma comments.

Reasonably close. I have a lot of friends who wrestled, coach wrestling, have kids who wrestled and have been successful on the mats. I know they pay for what they get from their coaches and it all trickles down from there. They are a machine right now. Nonetheless, I hate them.
