ND/UGa game thread

Tell that to the kid who just got replayed on national tv with the connotation that it was a reason why they lost.
It played a part. None of ND's injured walk-ons interfered with officials.
A guy like that shouldn't be on the sideline to begin with.

Smart got outcoached badly

The dumb decision to have your back up qb pass at the end of the half when your LT is a human turnstile was beyond idiotic. If Duzz had done something like that Pitt fans would be crucifying him Then getting fooled by the ND special teams was inexcusable

Sadly I like Milk Dud to beat ND. They have a much better passing game and ND isn’t going to be able to rely on Leonard’s legs to beat UPS. I don’t think it will be close unless Milk Dud chokes

For sure. Kids a moron. But they didn’t have to keep showing him on the sideline. I’m guessing he’s going to need to transfer

Speaking of idiotic, I'm not sure what I just watched in the Ole Miss - Duke game.

But you're spot on. It happens though. Kirby did a helluva job getting this team where he did and winning the SEC. Dawgs just weren't very good this year by their recent standards.

Yup. Georgia is good enough to win on defense but they just don’t have the offensive weapons they used to. I do think the Stockton kid is going to be pretty good They need to get him some weapons and a LT who isn’t a human turnstile

Agree. good enough to win, but they aren't elite defensively like they have been recently. They don't have the elite talent on the line or depth they have had in recent years. Then their running game isn't what it used to be and their WRs lead the nation in drops. They were just another good team in 2024.

I only saw the first couple of drives of the game, but I'd guess Riley Leonard still had a terrible day passing. I don't think Drew Allar is particularly good, but it's still a huge edge to Penn State.

Yup. Leonard is a pretty good running back. Below average Qb. UPS will dare ND to beat them passing. NDs OL is not that great but they get away with holding quite a bit

PSU has more options on offense and of course a NFL TE who is a difference maker. Only way ND wins is if Milk Dudd chokes

ND was clearly the better team.
Well…..they only had 200 total yards of offense. Scored only 2 TDs on a kick return and a UGA turnover in their own red zone. Their offense was largely ineffectual until the UGA D wore down in the 4th and ND was able to possess the ball after that awesome punt team swap trick play to get UGA offsides.

They played excellent defense against the worst UGA offense of the Kirby era playing with a backup QB who clearly wasn’t up to the moment and a really subpar group of receivers. They did physically manhandle UGA’s O line which was unexpected and huge. Irish also looked faster as a team than they have been in years past.

Freeman impressed me today, as did Al Golden.

I’m glad they won, I didn’t see much of them this year but I root for the Irish anytime they’re not playing Pitt or Michigan State due to family ties to ND and a lot of good times spent there with family and friends on game weekends. I’m not confident that they’re good enough to win next week, but if they D up the way they did today, and with Freeman and Golden on their sideline with Franklin on the other, they have a good chance.

ESPN shouldn’t have given that kid the Steve Bartman treatment, but I guess they need an excuse for one of their precious SEC teams losing.

At 7-0, it's a different game. The game gets called and played differently. Doesn't mean that UGa wins but they would have had a better chance
They didn’t take a TD off the board or walk off the 15 yards from the original line of scrimmage, it was 1st & 10 from the ND 26 instead of 1st & 10 from the ND 11, there’s no guarantee Georgia scores a TD.

I want to see ND play Penn State because I'm curious if it sets something off in the universe that causes time to reset to 1950. It just doesn't feel like both of those teams should ever be in a final four in the year 2025.
Uh, one of those two teams will have won 3 playoff games. How do you define deserving?

Who was the poster pushing the narrative that the SEC was, by far, the best conference?
You mean, like, the entire college football world, coaches, players, networks, analysts etc? That poster?

Honest question-do you know how dumb it is to take the position that SEC football dominance isn’t a real thing, it’s just a narrative ESPN is pushing? Especially by focusing on the results of a couple of bowl games in one season, instead of things like the fact that the SEC has won 16 nattys since 2000.

PSU has done nothing so far. Beating SMU at home and Boise St is something 20 teams could have done. Its possible PSU is good, but we still have no idea because they STILL have 0 legit wins.

I want ND to win it just because they're not in a conference. That messes up the B1G and SEC plan to rule the world.
I don't think ND is good enough to win it all, but I would like to see it. When the last time a national champion lost a game to a MAC school? That would be something.

A moron? A twenty year old kid who let his excitement get the better of him? Accidental and not a punk sideline move like Tomlin by no means..l

Their defense is very good. They lack the passing game to win it all and I think that will be why the lose to the nits

It was still dumb. He knows he’s not supposed to be in the area

Having said that I think the ref was a dick. He should have issued a sideline warning
