Why would anyone have thought that a team that went 11-14 would have made the NIT, unless a whole bunch of teams declined?
I would’ve expected Xavier to accept, the others not so much. Pretty solid field though, and after weeding out the couple teams early that didnt really want to be there should be some good basketball.
Explain. One could argue their season was not much different than ours. Beat most of the teams below them. Upset a couple of teams above them but under 500 in conference and with final totals. Looking at resume kind of made me question KenPom and NEt more than how good Penn State is.

PSU's program is far better. In the last 4 years, they have won the NIT, made the NCAAT (if there was one), and finished 42 in NET this year, right behind Syracuse and Clemson. They also have a chance to hire a good coach. Any Pitt fan would love to have those results.
It’ll be fine. Some teams have just had enough with all the Covid protocols/restrictions. It was Big Dance or bust and totally understandable.
Did 33% of the roster walk away? Do they have ZERO guys signed for next year? Not saying they're great, but Pitt is extremely screwed up right now for whatever reason.
At this point, I'd give anything for Pitt to get in the NIT or even the CBI if they ever bring that back. YES Penn State IS BETTER the last 4 years, no doubt.
No the recent history favors Penn State, and how many Penn State players are leaving the program right now, how many recruits do they have signed for this year? More than ZERO and THEY WIN.

Again with the NIT envy. They have been better than Pitt, barely, the past 4 years or so. Give it up already.
It would be awesome, a MAJOR STEP UP if Pitt won an NIT, even just making a CBI would be better than Pitt the last 5 years.
They’re going to have a half dozen guys transfer this offseason. They have one guy signed for 2021.
They have never been a factor as a program. We have. The ceiling is much higher at Pitt. Unfortunately the floor has proven to be about the same.
They may be a little bit better, but to say far better is really ridiculous.
