-Now I have to watch choke Fleury in goal to start the season as I was already counting the days down to watching Murray aka Ken Dryden part 2. The Penguins still are an early runaway cup favorite to repeat as Stanley Cup Champion even with the injury. But this sucks. Alright Flower, dont fold this time and keep the team up until Murray is healthy then you can go back to watching the Pens win.

He was 35-17-6 in the reg season last year. .921 save % 2.29 GA. 2 years before those were good as well. I know he's everyone's favorite whipping boy and admittedly his playoff performances aren't always as good. But I think they'll be ok without Murray for a while. Get a grip.

-No, the entire league will be gunning for our head. 4 Cups in 25 years, we are the team to beat in the NHL and should win this year. The Fleury excuse show is over, its Murray time. He is a showstopper on the biggest of stages.

Actually it's Fleury time until further notice. And they'll be fine.

The main regular season goal for the Pens this year will be to stay fresh and healthy for the playoffs. Either goalie is well above the line for regular season performance.

-Want to lose in the first round in the playoffs again?

The playoffs are months away sparky. You might want to reread what I said. But I'll say it again. Try to follow along. Fleury has been fine in the reg season for the last 3 years. Murray is hurt. Murray is out for 6 weeks. So until he can play, whether you like it or not, it's Fleury time. And I'll say it for the 3rd time. They'll be fine.

And I'll wait for a bigger sample size before I call him the next anything. I know he was a highly thought of prospect but he wouldn't be the first guy to get hot then not live up to the hype. So you might wanna pump the brakes on the Ken Dryden stuff.

-How many goaltenders won the Cup at 21 years old?

How blindsided will Penguin fans be when Murray gets traded this year?

-Will never happen. Sullivan tried Fluery once against Tampa Bay in the playoffs (and lost) and almost got his head ripped off for taking our Murray. Will never happen again until Murray loses.

I'll try and explain this slowly.
1.) Pens HAVE to protect Fleury meaning they HAVE to offer up Murray in the expansion draft.
2.) Rutherford is not stupid enough to let Murray get selected for NOTHING when he can get a big return for him in a trade offer
3.) Fleury controls his movement, except for a handful of teams that he can't protect his movement to. He has children and is concerned with living in certain cities as he does not want to raise his kids there. You don't think he's smart enough to work it so that the teams he can go to have 0 desire in a goalie?
4.) What do you think the market will be for a goalie at Fleury's age and cap hit? Hint, there wasn't much of one in the offseason.
5.) The benefit of having a cheap goalie in Murray goes away after this year meaning he'll be making $4million next year.
6.) The pens have Jarry who some like just as much if not better than Murray + they drafted the guy they had as the #1 goalie prospect in the draft this year. They have protected their future between the pipes even if they lose Murray.

-So you want to give away the goalie that just won you the Stanley Cup? Jesus Christ someone shoot me.... Give Fluery away for free, he's worthless in the playoffs, WORTHLESS.

I don't want to give anybody up. But you can't look at things with blinders on. You have to understand rules and the situation they are in.

-I dont give a shit what the rule is or the situation is. Murray is the 2nd best player on this team behind Crosby and we lucked out like I dont even know to get him. No way in hell he leaves, none. The only reason we even won the Cup last year was Crosby and Murray. Geno didnt do shit most of the games. At least HBK came through.

I don't think the Pens will be "forced" to protect Fleury in the expansion draft. They might just protect Murray and let Fleury go.

So F the rules, we'll live in real life as if we were playing on play station. I get it now.

-He can 100% be traded. There are 12 teams he selects he doesnt want to play for. We can dump him anywhere else.

That's a different matter - the expansion draft was the discussion - but yea, you're correct. Never said he couldn't. Only that if he's on the roster he needs to be protected.

Is it that hard for you to just say that you were incorrect?

-Of Course not. We can Dump him for a penny on the market. The best situation possible is Fleury and the Pens start off hot, then we trade him at a peak before Murray comes back. Fleury at 6 million a year is winning us nothing, zero. Get him out of here.

If they determine that Murray is that good that is what they need to do. Fleury's not young and he's not cheap. I don't think they'll get much for him for a number of reasons even if he's playing good. But if they decide that Murray is the guy that won't matter much.

-so Fluery is making 6 Million a year. Murray is making 600K. Murray just won you the cup. You dont think it is to your advantage to gain a +5 Million advantage

This year, no. There is absolutely 0 to gain from saving $5 or $10 million this year. Free agency is over.
As I said before, that $5million savings is gone next year when Murray gets his new contract.

First of all, who the eff is Matt Murray?

Second of all, do you not realize the NHL is 84 meaningless exhibition games before the season starts in April. It amazes me how many people watch regular season hockey.

Jesus Christ can you read? I said if they determine that Murray is that good thats what they need to do (in response to your post about trading him). You get so hopped up on whatever your agenda is it must blind you.

I just said that won't get much for Fleury but if they determine Murray is their guy then that's irrelevant.

-And like I said, just get more than a penny. Because Murray just won you the cup. Fluery is worthless right now in Pittsburgh with a younger, faster, better, goalie behind him.

Well we're going round in circles. Murray is hurt so Fleury is not worthless. Hand issues can be tricky. And I believe ZERO about what is released about injuries. Christ people couldn't tell the truth about the Liberty Bridge reopening. So until Murray is healthy and shows he's for real Fleury will still be valuable.

-He has to be because Murray is the only goalie since 2009 to win a Stanley cup for Pittsburgh. The odds of Fleury winning Pittsburgh a cup again, about 0.

It's worthless with him. He doesn't understand the cap, the expansion draft, depth, pretty much anything about the game of hockey. He won the cup at 21, he's Ken Dryden!!

-Yea he is. Like the other 1000 dumbasses I argued with last year that Fleury wouldnt win the cup but Murray would.

-Congrats Fleury though, regular season champ. Kind of like this year

Pretty sure the Pens wouldn't have made the playoffs last year were it not for strong goalie play from Fleury, but what do I know?

I sure hope your hockey predictions are better than your football ones.

-Didnt I say the Pens would destroy everyone in the playoffs last year? I believe I did. Just get Murray back, because the Sid Murray show is starting very soon.
