I'll try and explain this slowly.
.) Pens HAVE to protect Fleury meaning they HAVE to offer up Murray in the expansion draft.
.) Rutherford is not stupid enough to let Murray get selected for NOTHING when he can get a big return for him in a trade offer
.) Fleury controls his movement, except for a handful of teams that he can't protect his movement to. He has children and is concerned with living in certain cities as he does not want to raise his kids there. You don't think he's smart enough to work it so that the teams he can go to have 0 desire in a goalie?
.) What do you think the market will be for a goalie at Fleury's age and cap hit? Hint, there wasn't much of one in the offseason.
.) The benefit of having a cheap goalie in Murray goes away after this year meaning he'll be making $4million next year.
.) The pens have Jarry who some like just as much if not better than Murray + they drafted the guy they had as the #1 goalie prospect in the draft this year. They have protected their future between the pipes even if they lose Murray.
