Teddy's in Irwin. They had the best baked fish and whatever they sprinkled on top of it was really good. Brussel sprouts and asparagus to perfection.

Some of been mentioned....
Poli's. in Squirrel Hill, Franco's I think on 6th street dahntahn.

Honestly, a lot of mine when I was less sophisticated food nerd LOL.
Chi Chis. Yes, I miss Chi Chis as unauthentic as it may have been. The source of many fun meals.
Montemurros in Sharpsburg. It was like that old school Italian-American restaurant straight out of Goodfellas era, which essentially it was.
Lorenzo's Pizza in West Tarentum. I would kill for this today. Was it the best? It was to me and my childhood memories.
I liked the old Mario's in Moon, I think it moved to a newer location.
The Lobster Pot at the Red Bull Inn was an absolutely dee-lightful treat to a young Owt.

I begged mom and dad to take me to burger chef noblestown and then white castle in mckees rocks

Lots of good ones mentioned. Recruits, nice call on Montemurro.

A few more
Tivoli - Penn Hills - great Italian food
Georgetown Inn - Mt Washington - wife liked going there
Eastwood Inn - Verona/East Hills - Old school mob Italian
We always held graduation dinners at the Georgetown inn.

Chi Chi's in it's prime was very good but took a noticeable turn downwards the last 5 or so years before they went belly under. The first taste of Mexico in the area. Well, maybe the 3rd....First one I ever went to was Tequila Junction in Station Square. That was the one and only Mexican at the time. Not sure when Franklin Inn entered the scene, but they were an original also.

Oh yeah, Tequila Junction. Absolutely. And I was definitely talking about Chi Chis in its prime, before it proliferated into too many franchises.

Your first date ???????? are you serious ?
I assume this is addressed to me and yes, I’m totally serious. We met 6 days prior and she took me out for my birthday. This was a long time ago. 1988 in fact. City Grill had tasty food (grilled steaks yummy Angel Hair) but my company was the best part. Perfect conversation and connection. Two years later it’s where I officially “popped the question” which was something long before agreed upon. But that first official date was one of the very best nights of my life.

Anyone remember Cantor's in Oakland ?

I live my formative years on Oakland Avenue, 2 blocks from there. Our family went there on special occasions. On really special occasions we went to Bubbles & Sherman’s in the Hotel Webster Hall. I didn’t mention them because it has been gone so long I didn’t think anyone else would remember them.

I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but I think it was spelled Canter’s.

In 1968, a tiny Mexican restaurant opened in Etna. It was essentially in the the living room of a house with 4 or 5 tables. The family lived upstairs. I went there with the Food Critic for the P-G, who said it was the first Mexican restaurant in Western PA. I had never had Mexican food before, so I had nothing to judge it against, but I really liked it.

very nice list. Top of the Triangle is now Jeff Romoff's office, lol. Brown Derby, classic east end place. Monteray Bay on Rodi got the Hawley franchise rolling, one of the better restaurant groups in the area. I remember Minutello's in Shadyside, great red sauce joint, not sure if related to the one on Cochran road?

also a good list. Pasta Piatta was good, along with another Italian place in Shadyside, Giovanni's, which moved to Mt. Lebanon for awhile before closing.

The Red Bull in in Shadyside.
Best salad bar ever.
Some of you may remember salad bars. They are long gone, but there were some very good ones and The Red Bull Inn in Shadyside was the best by far.

I'll add one that is still around, but probably won't be for much longer. Which reminds me that it's been over a year since I made the drive out there to pick up a pizza.

That is the place that moved to the Bourse?

called them one day, answered the phone Ninos. I said what about Giovannis? He said Ninos, Ginos, Giovannis whatever.

The stuffed salmon I had there, in the bar, on Valentines Day was one of the best dishes I have had in my life.

Mike, wow! I didn't think anyone on here could possibly know of that little joint. It was SO COOL. I worked around the corner from there, my uncle's Pharmacy. We ate lunch there so often... best taco's of all time. Years later, I was in grad school at CMU, I took a bunch of classmates (all from out of town) there. One of the guys' had parents from Mexico. He said it was the most authentic Mexican food he'd had in the USA.

I know the North Huntingdon to West Mifflin route very well. Back when working at Kennywood was a fun time. (Most of the time.)

Siba- Seven Fields
La Cucina Dolce- Monroeville
Silk Pagoda - Greenfield
Winchester Room - North Versailles
Miami Subs- Oakland... and yes, I’m serious about missing that place!
