Nope, you’re a few years off. Seattle’s expansion draft is set for June 2021. I believe the delayed timeline is due to the extensive Key Arena renovations. DeSmith’s extension is set to begin in the 2019-20 season so assuming they resign Murray to a long-term contract after his current one expires, DeSmith will probably be the unprotected goalie.

What I find interesting is that it’s going to have the same rules as Vegas’ draft. Wasn’t sure if they’d do that since a lot of people were annoyed that a first year team made a run to the Final; I thought it was incredible, something we’ll probably never see again.

Jarry has one more year on his contract at 675,000 next season and then is a RFA ...... not really a problem ... but starting next season 2019-20, I think that he can't be sent to the minors without going through waivers and he almost assuredly would be taken by another team .... that is the problem...... not sure the solution.

Who do you think we can get for DeSmith? I saw today that we had a few scouts in attendance for the Stars-Flyers game.

We’ll also have more defensemen than we need once Schultz returns so maybe we dangle one of them, too.

That’s a good question. I would like to see someone overpay for him and a guy like Oleksiask. Similarly if they want to make a cup run this year there’s a possibility JR goes for a rental a la Billy Guerin in 2009.

Did you guys see the Aaron Rogers State Farm Commercials theead the other day? These Discover ones are right up there too in terms of annoyance.

Malkin turns it over at the red line leading to a short handed goal by the Ducks .... 4-3 Ducks ..... why has Malkin been turning the puck over at the red and blue lines so much ???????????

4-3 end of 2 periods.

Geno's been "Bad Geno" sloppy all season instead of streaks like normal. He better figure it out - rest of the team has been looking "Cup Good" lately.

I am so glad I stuck with this game. Geno atones, & Kessel turns into a power forward. Sheer awesomeness.

Speaking of, I don’t know if it’s because he’s out west and we don’t pay much attention to him or because he’s not as headline grabbing as everyone else, but it’s pretty amazing that Getzlaf is still playing at such a high level.

Open netter for Guentzel ..... hat trick ..... 7-4 Pens after being down 3-0 after the 1st period !!!!!!!

Agree I hope Murray keeps it up. Not stellar tonight but it was a good time to be off. If they stay healthy they have a chance to go real deep again.

Last Christmas my dad gave me a puck that landed at his feet with the ticket stub from the game. He and my grandpas used to go when tickets were dirt cheap because my grandfather loved hockey. This was late 70s early 80s. The stub has a Wendy’s promotion on the back.

I read it once in awhile but don't post there .... I spend too much time on the panther-lair (according to my wife .... LOL !!!).
I mostly just read too these days. Damn fine collection of talent at the heart of that board.

I’m on here a lot too. Quite frankly, I think it’s because a lot of the posters are my age or older so there’s more decorum ( as much as there can be in the message board world.)

1st row E-15 for $10 a game. Those certainly were the days.

Especially in the hockey threads ..... I think we have some pretty good discussions and some knowledgable posters !

After the core dozen guys on HF - this is the best Pens conversation around IMO.

Yeah, a good group of "lair" posters who have been long time hockey fans and are knowledgable ........ discussions are good/thoughtful and usually very civil ...... the hockey threads on here are fun to read ......I try to add some insight into the goalies play (I hope it is interesting/helpful).

What a game. When it started out 3-0 we were thinking what a stinker to go to.. Seemed like the Pens where fat, and especially on that third goal, they were not skating.

I was impressed with the number of Pens fans at the game. Pretty loud when the Pens scored,,,,,,,,,not sure if you could hear it on the tube. Very nice rink.........

Couple of thoughts

Kessel is playing at a very high level Has a lot of jump, Hes not just scoring goals but making great plays with his legs and setting guys up

Brassard was less than impressive. Hes not all that fast and is not winning battles for the puck.

Geno had some jump in his legs but he still seems to be fighting the puck a bit.....with the exception of his last goal which was classic geno........Hope that jump starts his game.

Sid's defense is incredible. Im stating the obvious but hes such a complete player. I actually dont think he gets enough credit for the level of defense he plays.

Pearson was a very good pickup. Hes playing a complete game and has a pretty good shot. I like him on Geno's line.

Petterson is really solid. Dude rarely gets beat. His reach is a huge advantage.

MM was not as sharp as he has been. Didnt get to see the first goal but the second goal seemed pretty soft.....not sure if it was tipped........I dont think he saw the third goal He was playing at an incredibly high level so you cant expect him to be on every night.

Funny story. Get to the section where our seats where and there was a line to get to the seating area. There was an usher with a stop sign up preventing fans from going in until there was a stoppage in play. The intent is to prevent fans from blocking the view of fans in the seating area as they go in and out of the seating area. So for the first pens goal, some clown comes back with two beers in his hand, stops two rows in front of me and blocks my view of the goal.........My son goes to me...........thats why they stop people from coming in during play............uhg....

I had 3 friends over for the game, as none of them are "hardcore" like us - they couldn't believe how many Pens fans were there, and how loud it was when Pens would score. They felt bad for the Ducks... You guys crushed it, nice job!

From the very puck drop, Brassard was the worst Penguin on ice. It's been long enough, he's not going to come around, JR needs to get busy and find value for him, hopefully soon.

I saw pretty much the same things you did as regards to player performance. Kessel was dominant, Sid doing all the little things, and Guentzel was everywhere. I was totally stoked when we got Pearson, glad to see he fits too, unlike Brassard.

This team is tantalizing. They are firing on most cylinders right now, and there could very well be one last big Cup run coming if JR can do his magic, and the injury gods are kindly.

early 70's, i was in high school, got partial plan - 20 games - for $75. Took bus in from Crafton for games. Saw Brier's only season, he'd have been a great one! Plager brothers bench clearing brawls. What a blast!

That was weird. Going into the game I was worried we were going to bookend the Ducks streak (they last won beating us in Pittsburgh) and jumped out to a 3-0 lead with 3 quick strike goals.

Then it was all Penguins. Not even close. When the Pens tied it up, hell when it was 3-2 I felt confident in the win.

I have to admit, I was lukewarm on the Pens trades, but even though Sprong scored, man Pearson and Petterson look pretty damn good and are nice fits. I still don't think Sprong got a proper chance (he is playing #1 line in Anaheim) but oh well.
