OT:TD and Dallas Cowboys

Just heard Gil Brandt talking about the beginning of the cowboys using computers to decide which players to concentrate scouting on. Said many in organization wanted Ricky Bell, he wanted TD. Had computer guy, who knew nothing about football come up with a program to predict them as pros. TD 100% chance of being all pro. Bell 0% chance. By the 3 rd criteria they all swung to TD. Beginning of analytics?

Didn't Ricky Bell come down with some sort of rare illness that not only cut his football career short, but claimed his life (still in his 20s)? I don't think analytics would have predicted that.
