I support any Star Wars show that doesn’t involve an OT character or force you to watch the entire Filoni catalogue, so I’ll give this show a chance. I’m intrigued!

What star was has always failed to realize is they have never truly shown the evils of the dark side. You have it briefly at the end of rouge one. You have it in Andor. But I am hopeful this show gives us some of that.

What do you mean?

And you’re basing this on what, exactly?
There’s about 100 reasons and we’ve talked about them all here already. I could really, really pile on but I’m not going to do that. I’ll only say this…the person put in charge of the show is a worse decision than Kevin Stallings being selected to coach the Pitt hoops team. It would be like selecting the Pep Band director to coach the hoops team. If there’s a legit qualification for this person I’d like to know what it is. But nothing Lucasfilm does ever makes any sense. I’ll gladly eat crow though. If it turns out to be good I’ll be thrilled. But I’ll guarantee that this one will be the least watched the studio ever had. It’s a slam dunk failure.

Since the Ashoka thread was bumped and the acolyte is being discussed there, I’ll just leave this here.

As I guaranteed, it’s the worst Star Wars show ever created and now it has the poorest audience scores ever and least Amount of views of any project.

Who couldn’t see this coming?

Come on Ski, surely by now you can see the agenda is taking precedence over actually creating good content. Just look at the showrunner's directing background and tell me it was a good idea to give her $180 million to make a Star Wars tv series. I mean, is there ANYTHING good that she has previously created? I almost wonder if, as Harvey Weinstein's former personal assistant, that she just has lots of dirt on people and that's how she got this gig? Just hire people who actually like Star Wars and created something of note in the past. Not. Hard.

So who does Kathleen Kennedy have pictures of? As I said over a month ago here, Lesle Hedland does not have one qualification to head a Star Wars show. Not one. She couldn’t even name 5 characters names when she got the gig. So why then did she get the gig? Why did Kennedy hire her?

The only goal for the series was to push social Justice propaganda and show off a diversity quota and highlight the DEI agenda. Who better to do that than Headland? I’m not ripping that agenda or saying anything negative about it. I’m just saying that the agenda is clear. I mean why else hire Hedland? It’s pretty obvious that her LGBTQ activism was what’s most important.

The goal was clear. It was never to tell a good story. It was never to honor George lucas and his IP, and it was never to entertain the audience. And that is why it has an audience score of 28 and it’s the least watched Star Wars show ever.

How does Kennedy keep her job?

And to think it's actually going to get worse with the new director they hired for the new Rey movie who knows absolutely nothing about Star Wars and makes documentaries highlighting women's rights in Pakistan. Nothing wrong with that career, but she shouldn't be making the next Star Wars movie.

there is a very funny South park skit where cartman plays Kathleen Kennedy. i'd post it but the PC Police would undoubtedly get upset so i'll let it go..

its very strange to me to see disney go out of their way to upset their fan base. a bold strategy to say the least.

The Star Wars fandom has shrunk. Between episode 8 and 9, they lost 50% of their audience. And it has shrunk exponentially since. Anyone else would have been sacked years ago. Yet she hasn’t. It can’t be explained. This all started way back when, when Solo flopped and there was all kinds of mismanagement behind the scenes of that film. And then between episode 8 and 9 they fired Colin Treverrow after he had written episode 9 and replaced him with JJ Abrams who had to rewrite everything because Ruin Johnson took the franchise in a completely wrong direction and Colin’s vision no longer fit. They couldn’t even get the Kenobi series right. That was an absolute slam dunk, and that was a flop.

Stars and Marvel: a race to the bottom when DEI is more important than content and story development.

The problem is that those obsessed with DEI think that the people who don’t like the projects are intolerant of DEI and inclusion. But that’s not it at all. Let’s face it, the Star Wars fandom is made up of nerds, and nerds are very inclusive of everyone because they want included in everything themselves.

So the real problem is that the DEI crowd is obsessed with it and they jam it down everyone’s throats in spite of simply making a great film or show. Lesle Headland said she was going to mold this show in her queerness. And she did. And she’s happy to proclaim the show the “gayest “ Star Wars ever. That’s what matters most to her and to disney , not the ratings.

Case in point, I think Rogue One was the best thing Disney did. It was very good. And it was a very diverse cast. But the audience wasnt slammed in the forehead with it…it was just there and it didn’t interfere with great filmmaking and story creating.

Rogue One also had a couple that seemed pretty gay to me. Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus definitely seemed like they could be more than friends at the very minimum. But it didn't make that the biggest part of the story. It was into the story only as was required, which is how all fiction should be written.

I was complaining about the Acolyte's lesbian force witches last night. And my argument was pretty similar to yours. (To be clear, I haven't seen episode 3 but I read about it) I'm not against the concept of women force users using the force to create force sensitive babies. That makes sense to me and there could be lots of plot reasons to do it (e.g., what if some female force users got stranded on a planet and then they did this to survive?). But it seems like re-addressing a topic that was closed when the prequels said Darth Plageis was the only one who could use the force to save or create life. Knowing that secret was why Anakin went to the dark side and why he betrayed the Republic. Pretty important! But now it turns out that some random witches also know the secret.....which is fine, I guess even if it makes fans reinterpret a huge part of the lore....but when the show itself also sucks and even repeats other DEI-heavy mechanics like a mad AF female POC Sith who blames the Jedi for her childhood trauma, then people can have a negative impression of the show in totality.

man i loved Rogue One. probably my favorite Star wars movie outside of the original 3.. i actually kind of liked Solo too but not nearly as much..

never really even thought of Chirrut and Baze as "more than friends" lol. it just never occurred to me. same as the "alleged" feelings between Finn and Poe. just seems "forced" to imply otherwise. it doesnt add anything to the plot or characters..

It's definitely not established but there's something to it:

- constantly together
- old married couple vibes (Baze scoffs when Chirrut talks positively about the Force, even though Baze is also Force trained)
- Both are very emotional about the other
- Chirrut says that he doesn't need luck because he has Baze
- Baze goes berserk when Chirrut is shot
- Chirrut sweetly touches Baze's cheek as he dies

They definitely could have been just longtime brothers in arms. But I was in the military and if one of my close friends died in front of me I would reacted more more in the way that Wade's friends did in Saving Private Ryan than Chirrut and Baze did with each other. To me, they were presented in a way that gay men might present themselves in the 1800s. Doesn't mean they were gay but I thought there were some less than ambiguous signs.

Yeah I’m pretty sure they were gay and that it was intentional. But it wasn’t in a way that it hijacked the story. In episode 8, hodo or whatever her name was, was gay. Again no big deal. It becomes a problem when agenda is front a center and the priority.

Bottom line is, hire an activist to be the flag bearer for your show, the activist will do activist things. And frankly you just don’t hire an activist by mistake. Especially when that activist knows nothing about the universe that she’s stepping into.

I liked Solo, too. The villain was kind of weak, though.

I hate that they teased darth maul but then will probably never get around to a pay off because they have gone in other directions.

But the casting of the lead was awful. I just couldn’t see Han at all when watching him.

Full disclaimer - Haven't watched yet! Been busy and prioritizing other stuff (I see you, Hades. I'll learn to use the stupid bow eventually). But if it sucks, that's a bummer! I was excited for a non-Skywalker show!

I mean... I was as hard core a Star Wars guy as the next. But as I grow older, I realize that the franchise has really only had 1 awesome show, 3 very good films and 1 above average film. The rest has been hot garbage. So strictly looking for someone to carry on Lucas's vision isn't exactly setting the bar high.

Lucas introducing Midiclorians is every bit as dumb as anything Johnson did in Ep. 8.

Man. I can't disagree more about nerds. Nerds are some of the most exclusionary and gatekeeping folk out there.

I have no idea who the showrunner is. Don't really care who it is beyond the fact that I was excited Filoni wasn't involved because I wouldn't need to keep the stupid Wookiepedia page for Rebels open while I watched.

All fair points. But are you saying that I might not be invited to any D&D parties anytime soon? Lol. Damn. Just when I was looking to clear my schedule. Hah.

My one glaring gap on my nerd resume is I've never played D&D. I really want to! I figure worst case is I'll make my son play with me!

I’d like to point out that I said what I said over a month ago, and I didn’t bring politics or anything else into it. I didn’t want to offend anyone who supports the agenda. I just said that it will be the biggest failure ever. It was as clear as day. And now the audience score on rotten tomatoes is 20%.

George Lucas: “may the force be with you”

Kathleen Kennedy: “the force is female”

Leslye Headland: “the force is lesbian”.

Biggest piece of trash ever created.

But that's like predicting that the Pirates will stink.
