Marsha sounds like someone that might be required by law to tell his neighbors when he comes within a certain distance from schools.
No, I have a Pitt sign in my yard. It lets children know they are in a safe area.Marsha sounds like someone that might be required by law to tell his neighbors when he comes within a certain distance from schools.
I believe i have watched every game this year except the opener against Oregon (11pm start was too late on a work night) and the smu game as it was on the same time pitt football was playing at home and I was there. But you are deflecting from your original point which was men only watch volleyball because of the uniforms. Admit that was a dumbass take marsha and move on. Or keep rambling incoherently about yard signs (no one has brought up your paterno cutout in this thread) or the WNBA.No, I have a Pitt sign in my yard. It lets children know they are in a safe area.
How many ten hour round trips have you made to watch Pitt Women's Volleyball games?

More Students Are Playing High School Sports | LendingTree
The number of high schoolers who participated in school sports climbed in the 2022-23 school year, but still remained below pre-pandemic highs.www.lendingtree.com
I also didn't think/realize that was high school focused and most teams are co-ed. Our local high school won the state in 2023 with 3 or 4 ladies starting.I would be interested in seeing those numbers for Women's / Girls golf. It seems there is a lot more interested today or maybe I am biased.
I don’t even know what the F point he is trying to make anymore. Guy is all over the place.Net height needs to be established, given the difference between the two sports.
But most of our players are taller than most HS boys teams.
I have an UConn fan friend and we had the conversation at their peak , what level could their women’s team beat a team of men’s -I just never took you as a serious person.
I wouldn’t know about the WNBA because I don’t watch girls and women’s basketball. But I do follow volleyball and soccer.
I do think our women’s volleyball could probably beat a typical WPIAL boys team because height is an issue and our WPIAL boys teams on average probably isn’t as tall as our women’s team. Plus volleyball isn’t a contact sport, whereas soccer is. So a high end WPIAL boys soccer team would beat our women’s soccer team.
Another thing to consider with volleyball is in western PA most boys players are doing it as an extra activity or secondary sport. In most cases I don’t think it’s the best athletes at the school.
I have an UConn fan friend and we had the conversation at their peak , what level could their women’s team beat a team of men’s -
And the answer was maybe a bad hs team or a good jv team - due to strength and power difference
I would guess it’s true for volleyball same way . Tennis isn’t contact but the difference still matters
That being said - this whole hysteria about trans in sports is an entirely manufactured outrage.
A cousin of mine was the starting PG on PSU's Final 4 team that got smashed by UConn in around 96'. They practiced against the men's intramural champs. She said it was competitive but in a straight up game the men would win almost every time.I have an UConn fan friend and we had the conversation at their peak , what level could their women’s team beat a team of men’s -

Its only about 7 inches shorter than men's volleyball.a wpial boys all star team would most certainly beat most division one college volleyball teams. An average team of guys from California could blow out Pitt or Nebraska. It’s not debatable
I don’t think any of you realize how short a woman’s volleyball net is

It isn't basketball.Right. How many more people (both men and women) would be able to dunk if the basketball hoop was 7 and a half inches shorter
Not really.That's a big difference.
Not really.
When you're 6'4" like Babcock, they could play at men's heights.
It's not a strange thread.....it's an effing stupid thread. What a strange thread. Volleyball is entertaining so why wouldn’t he, or anyone, enjoy watching? I can’t speak for every high school but the one I work in volleyball is number 2 behind football.
Pitt Volleyball makes the Final 4 and somehow the board clowns manage to twist it into something else. It's not a strange thread.....it's an effing stupid thread.
Not really.

she also wouldn’t be as dominant with her power and her blocking would be a helluva lot less effectiveNot really.

i know im going to regret asking this but here goes. It's not my take on women's volleyball that bothers you. It's my takes on men all of sudden watching women's volleyball that stings.
Swin Cash?I went to school with someone who played in the WNBA for 14 years. I'm 100% confident she wouldn't have scored on most of the guys who played on the high school team, and I'm not sure if she would have even been able to get a shot off against some of them.
Because they are winning and Pitt fans are desperate for any type of championship.i know im going to regret asking this but here goes.
why are men all of a sudden watching womens' volleyball in your opinion?
Well - I’m watching pitt because they win and I actually like volleyballi know im going to regret asking this but here goes.

They don’t just s club teami dont think i've ever seen a mens volleyball game on tv, ever. mens olympics is the only time i can think of it. yet womens volleyball games are all over tv.. that's odd. i honestly without looking it up, couldnt even tell you if pitt had a mens volleyball program...
good call, i actually liked the beach volleyball format. 2 on 2, mens and womens. that's entertaining.. and of course the maverick/goose vs iceman and Slider match was epic. They don’t just s club team
The ATP beach volleyball used to be on tv regularly - can’t say I’ve looked for it in a long time .
She and Pitt could still beat a boys' HS team at the men's height, assuming they played at that height all the time. She absolutely could play at the men's height.
She just wouldn't be nearly as good doing it.
No doubt. But I'm not sure what your point is. Players get used to whatever conditions they always play with. As an old tennis and pickleball player, I can tell you when a net height is off. But that is irrelevant to this discussion.I'm tall and played volleyball. I din't even like the net off by an inch or two. Felt like a big difference.
No kidding. Everyone becomes more dominant with a lower net than they would with a higher net. Brilliant point ya got there.she also wouldn’t be as dominant with her power and her blocking would be a helluva lot less effective
When I played volleyball regularly I was still growing but still shorter than my present 6’4” self . I mean like dunking a volleyball at 5,11” type of bounce .
The women’s volleyball coach would sometime play with us in our intramural games since she helped organize it .
She would be pretty much the libero or full time setter cause she had no chance playing at the net or getting anything over past a block except a dink.
A really good woman can certainly be better than an average at best male .
Ans mixed coed teams are fun , since a good serve and placement of hits is more important than just power .
