Should posses most if not all these qualities..

  1. Run a Pro Style Offense
  2. Be able to recruit well
  3. Have P5 experience at QB position
  4. ?
  5. ?
  6. ?

Ty Helton, current QB coach at USC, former OC at WKU. I think he'd have to be on the list of people to contact.
Joker Phillips would be another name to consider as I'm sure he is looking to start climbing the ladder again.

all the above, has ACTUAL oc experience. i'm not interested in anyone with zero oc experience.

If Canada leaves before the bowl game, then my guess is Salem is the interim OC. After that, I'm not so sure it will be in house. I'll put trust in Narduzzi regardless of his decision. Not like I have a choice anyways... LOL

1 thing I liked about Canada is tailoring the offense to what he has. I think the new OC should be able to do the same. Super Recruiter. High Energy.

Yup. We'll have no problem recruiting defense w/ HCPN but need a top recruiter for offense. Thats why I think Phillips makes some sense (also that he has a great amount of P5 OC experience).

Heard it on the fan, and maybe not a bad idea to interview Mark Mangino from New Castle great OC mind

If such a person existed...lsu would have hired them.
Exactly. We aren't going to get a super recruiter, who also has OC experience to fill Canada's spot. Our best hope is to either promote a guy like Salem and fill his spot with a great recruiter OR go get a guy with OC experience and cut someone else loose, who is not pulling their weight, so we can bring in a guy who can kill it in recruiting.

Magino...didnt he assult a player or have something similar happen?
Tressel? Ummm if u want an offense that punts on 3rd down i guess hes a good choice.

It seems like no matter who gets to be Pitts OC, if the offense does a great job, some big time school will come after him and he's gone

Well - the object of most coaches is to become a HC, so if they do well it is bound to happen.

Whoever it is he needs to wear a Panama Jack style PITT straw hat like Canada wears during practice. I own about 4 of those so if he doesn't own one I'll one with PITT on it!

Mangino did not assult anyone. What he said to one of his underperforming/ inconsistent players was something to the effect of, -do you want me to send you back to St. Louis so that you can hang out on the street corners drinking a 40 like your dad.-

I know the Mangino family. They are nice people. Hard charging, no-nonsense, in your face, loyal. He probably has some regret about that statement, which is what got him fired. Look at Kansas football pre-during and post Mangino. Guy can coach. End of story.

Alex Van Pelt's name mentioned in the Beaver County Times article. Interesting possibility.

Aside from Pitt ties has he done much? I don't mean to be insulting but his highlights were as an OC for a season on a bad Bills team and as the QB coach of Aaron Rodgers...a QB who probably does need a lot of QB coaching. And he has no college experience and no experience recruiting. He could be great, just seems like it would be a risky hire.

Right but lately we haven't lost a assistant or OC or DC to get a HC job, they have moved to the same job elsewhere, Chaney and now Canada, will Pitts next OC be gone at the end of next season? After a good season you can count on it. QUOTE="4Mark_Marty, post: 1715026, member: 42251"]Mangino did not assult anyone.
