Pickens ain’t optimistic!

3 without Pickens and 2 with Pickens.

Once again, if that point makes you feel better…I’m happy for you.

pickens is only part of the problem. The enabling coach is part of it, as well as the vets in the locker room who aren’t the best leaders.

Not to sound like an old man yelling at clouds, but Bussy, Hines, Peazy, Ike and Farrior would have put a guy like Pickens in his place. This team lacks those kinds of personalities.

You sure ?
Didn’t Porter get ejected for a pregame fight in Cleveland ?
Hines with his DUI
Antonio with domestic violence charges
Big Ben being a sex pest and crashing his motorcycle
Plaxico being cited for public intoxication
Jeff Reed being a menace .

I think that’s some revisionist history -
And this was before social media was prominent

Other than the pregame fight, none of those were on-field issues. Pickens taking plays off, tantrums on the sideline, and dumb penalties are the on-field issues. DJ and his lack of effort were on-field issues.

You’re really grasping at stuff that can all individually be debated, but none of those things you mentioned were chronic issues that impacted things on the field. That group I mentioned policed their locker room. Other than Ben. His shithousery cost the Steelers a potential dynasty, going 8-8 Cowhers last year because of him. And cowher retired because of it. Maybe Tomlin should follow Cowher to CBS.

And both of them are near Pickens in targets .
So explain why Garrett Wilson and davante Adams are near the top.

Let me help you out -
Targets are higher for bad teams who are losing more French .

It’s why the top target guys mostly didn’t make the playoffs

Context I agree -is important
More context - the Steelers ranked 29th in passing attempts this season -
Think that’s related ?!?
Listen - Steelers can let him walk during his UFA season and I won’t care.
We are paying $12mil a year for a TE who ranks 14th with 3 less targets per game than Pickens who was paid nearly 10% of that much .

You want change for the sake of change - me - I’d like Pickens to be a great WR2 ir we sign a top WR and watch how that opens up the offense .
lol. And you think the Steelers offense is good. All the more reason this offense should be targeting your boy more. Thanks for making my argument dopey

Well since you mentioned chronic issues that impact things on the field, how about when the Stillers told "Bussey" they wanted him to report to training camp at 265, and he walked in at St. Vincent and stepped on the scale it read 296, and he promptly walked out and told the assembled media that he was in the best shape of his life?

Think those extra 30 pounds might have had an impact on the field? But he was the beloved Bus, so no one said a word about it.

This is true. I think Moore is #1 and Jones is #3. I suspect that the plan was for Fantanu to be RT and have Jones push for the starting LT spot. But, even though Jones is playing out of position I don't think he's magically going to become even an average pass blocker for a starting tackle. They should try to sign a vet for LT, which will give them Fantanu at RT and Frazier at C. That could be the start of the rebuild.
After seeing Dotson i have no doubt its coaching and Jones would be a good LT if he got real coaching. Not the Mike Tomlin form of coaching. I think Jones will be a good LT if we get a real OL coach

Who said it was good
I literally said they attempted the 29th most passes in the NFL.
Which is 3rd from last in the league
You’re not good at this

Nevermind Ben actually gaining weight during the season ?
And of course missing 6 games to suspension for that off the Georgia bathroom incident

Guess Porter the locker room culture enforcer being ejected before a game , and then as a coach literally went on the field in a dispute during the playoffs against Cincy?

This idea that players police and enforce a winning culture - and keep wide receiver behavior in check is hilarious
I mean ask Antonio brown, Antonio Holmes , and plaxico burress, Cedric Wilson , etc

Yeah I posted about this in the other thread. The Steelers want to make a splash in FA and trade Pickens. This is exactly what I posted three weeks ago, yet soufie said it wasn’t happening.

But it might not happen when you consider tee Higgins is the only splash in FA they can make (I think?) and there will be better suitors than the Steelers.

Of course, if he wants to be a guy who can get away with whatever he wants and not have any accountability, then by all means sign with the Steelers. But I don’t think Higgins is that kind of guy.

im not sure of his trade value. he's in his last year under a rookie contract but he is a cancer. but like we said before, you only need one GM to think they can "change" him. I'd LOVE to get a 2nd rounder for him but that might be wishful thinking..

You’re really reaching to try and make a point. Name a chronic problem in that locker room in those days that hurt the team? I’d say that Ben might have been the only one, considering his behavior took a Super Bowl contender to an 8-8 season.

Dude I’d take a 4th. Anything really. Same goes for any player on the roster, not just him. The team isn’t competing for a championship next year. Might as well kick the can down the road and get draft picks for productive players if you can.

think you have to move TJ too. we got his best years, he still has trade value. a contender would love him. would be a PR hit with yinzer nation for sure but it's the smart move..

He and Minkah are at the top of my list…along with George and probably ahead of George.

whoever said Porter was a locker room culture enforcer lol. the moron had the intelligence of a piece of celery. we all kind of knew his character when he was getting into a gun fight at a bar in denver during the season. dude bragged about his pet dogs eating his neighbors horse on social media, what kind of sick F does that?

again, we loved porter cause he was an animal and killed people on the field. no one on this planet gave him any credit for being an actual human being. well besides tomlin and colbert of course, who offered this mental giant a coaching job..

I did. Well, I said Porter would have put a guy like Pickens in his place. George wouldn’t be showing up late chronically and only running half his routes.

ugh, yeah, gonna disagree on that one. i think those late 2000 Cowher teams had some great locker room guys, farrior, Hampton, Aaron smith. porter was someone you keep the young guys away from..

dude was in his late 40s still getting in fights on carson street in the south side leaving the bar. What person over the age of 22 even does that?

Yeah I get that. But he also would have knocked out George. But yeah, to your point, who in this locker room is a farrior, etc? I don’t think it’s Cam, Minkah or TJ.

heyward is too busy doing tv commercials.

It's Rooney's fault, or something.
Yeah I can’t even make out anymore the word salad being vomited up in these threads in an effort that deflect blame away from the coach.

What we do know is that the two most powerful guys in steeler land is Art and Mike. That partnership isn’t working anymore and Art isn’t going anywhere so…

im curious what kind of sway Khan the accountant actually has. i Believe we'll know better with this off season. big off season moves are necessary and the steelers usually are very conservative in the off season.. proof will be there to see soon enough if Khan is an actual GM or just a puppet..

Khan works for Art and Mike. He’s the CFO.

Porter wasn’t exactly disciplined himself
Even as a coach
Some notable knuckleheads on the team
With Porter on the roster :
Plaxico
Cedrick Wilson
Troy Edwards
Najee Davenport
Santonio Holmes

Both seem to be aging like milk .

Only the Olympic coaches seems to have been good moves
And why would rooney give Tomlin the atypical extra years extension AND a raise? When asked last year, Rooney’s immediate response was that “the players like Mike and he’s respected around the league”.

Time to fly the “Sell the Team!” Banners !

Teams should never pass on the chance to draft a franchise QB. There probably isn't one in this draft and the Steelers aren't in position to get one anyway. They can wait on Drew Allar next year...🤮
What did you say? Drew Who?
