Pretty cool. I'm an Air Force vet and really enjoyed my 4 years serving - as challenging as they were. The Air Force Academy is a second-to-none education and Colorado Springs is a cool town. Very excited for the young Zoomie!

U-S-A-F-A AIRRRRRR FORCE...FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

Congratulations. It's truly an honor for him and his family and I wish him all the best. I had offers from all three academies as well. He will make connections and friendships that will last for a lifetime. I had a chance to talk on the phone with my old roommate in December and I got to sit with a teammate and talk for a while a couple of weeks later. Caught up on a lot of people and what they're doing now. Kind of terrifying that these guys are now senior officers because I know how screwy they are but they are all good people who have had interesting careers.

I encourage you to travel out for a game if you are able. The pregame alone is incredible and Coach Calhoun is doing an incredible job with the program.

He has an older sister who played D1 basketball. She had an Air Force offer that she didn't even investigate, and now is regretting not at least considering it, based on the information he's received so far.

She did get her degree from Liberty, and was a grad transfer to East Carolina, so she got her undergrad and master's paid for, but she really likes the opportunities her brother will have.

It's a really tough gig and it certainly isn't for everyone. The mental aspect of the first year is easily the hardest part about being a cadet. It's a constant and can break a person. I've heard infantry guys say "embrace the suck". It's not the same but it's a similar mindset.
