Portal target thread

His NIL is insane. If he keeps it and Beard wants him, it’s gonna be tough for him to leave. They gave him a Nigel Pack type package when he left Duke

3 names of local interest in portal

Gerald Drumgoole (16 PPG at Albany)
- would be a nice A10 player

Max Amudusun (2 PPG and St. Bona)
- needs to drop to NEC

Enoch Cheeks (15 PPG at RMU)
- could play in ACC but would have to take a bench role at a place like Pitt

Peyton Sparks (Ball State) - So.
6'9", 240 lbs.
13.3 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 1.9 AST/G, 58.8% from the field.

Jonathan Beagle (Albany) - Fr.
6'10", 240 lbs.
12.4 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 2.1 AST/G, 50.5% from the field.

Keyshawn Hall (UNLV) - Fr.
6'7", 250 lbs.
5.7 PPG, 1.7 RPG, 0.5 AST/G, 47.9% from the field.

I say grab one of Beagle and Sparks and have Hall as the insurance as of right now. Obviously there will be more (and probably better) names entering the portal within the next few weeks or so.

Those are B list. The UNLV dude is C list. Maybe Duquesne will be interested. Pitt can be somewhat selective. There will be several thousand players in the portal

Two threads with only a thread between them, one pointing out that it is statistically hard to make the Sweet Sixteen and another criticizing Dixon for falling short of the Sweet Sixteen having been beaten by perhaps the top program over the last 5 years. Only on PantherLair.

Several thousand?
1,649 last year. Sorry.

There are 4719 D1 scholarships. If you figure 3 players from each team run out of eligibility, that means there are 3630 players eligible to transfer. Of those 3630, 1649, almost half entered the transfer portal. This is AAU basketball. There will be countless players available that could play at the ACC level. Some would be stars, some solid starters, some bench players. This staff can be somewhat selective and needs to do a great job scouting and watching film.

Yeah I won’t get excited about any of these guys until they get linked with Pitt.

Anyone remember the kid from Citadel who went off for 27points against us last year? He averaged 15pts as an frosh and then hit the portal, ended up at Richmond and is a bench player averaging 6pts a game.

Yet people think Drumgoole should be coming back after his stint at Albany. No thanks.

He's an elite shooter. Had the 2nd most 3s in the A10. Other parts of his game probably prevented him from playing more.

Just off the top of my head, shouldn't the number decrease each year as we get past the extra "covid" year?

Who's calling for the return of Drumgoole? Haven't seen that, but you're right, no thanks.

honestly, were any of us excited over Federiko Federiko, Elliott, even hinson? I think a few might have been over cummings but that's only because he is from pittsburgh..

i guarantee anyone we get, 3/4 of this board will not like "on paper."

You are correct which is why I'm saying we cant rely on lesser-recruited transfers. Have to beat like or better programs eventually for players.

Maybe a little but not drastically. At the end of the day, the number of D1 players is the same. These Covid year players dont give teams extra scholarships. Even after the Covid year ends, there will still be 4719 D1 players and a good portion of those will still look to transfer.

Guess it depends on your definition of drastic, I'm thinking about 20%.
