PSU / Michigan - Local players

Slick I watched the Iowa game and went to the Michigan game.It seems like Wade and Brisker are sharing time in the base defense and then Wade and Brisker are in together in certain packages. I rewatched the Michigan game today( because I don't have a life) to see how terrible Wade was against a very mediocre team, according to some.Beside the 2 penalities he did OK,Michigan's WRs are very good. It's always nice to see Wpial guys doing well, especially when one is from a Class A school.

Are you still on the Pitt board pretending to be a WVU grad and defending PSU to the hilt all the time? Hasn’t it gotten kind of lame?

Alan you are correct I'm not a Wvu grad but they did "give" my wife a Masters Degree!I graduated from Cal State of PA and was a head coach in the Wpial for 35 years.I follow all the Wpial players where ever they go play.I've been a season ticket holder at Wvu since 1978.I'm different than most college team fans because I'm a college sports fan.I don't wear blue and gold glasses and I actually would like do see Pitt,Wvu and PSU all do well and be ranked. Alan if you don't like what I say put me on ignore. If you're ever in Motown let me know and the first 3 Natty Lights are on me!

Yes. Exactly. I have said this on these forums for years, "a business decision". Take Paris Ford. If he goes to Alabama, and he struggles with the playbook for a year or so, is he recruited over? Here, he has had every chance to take the job, and he finally has done it, and is on a trajectory to possibly be a really high draft pick at some point. But at an Alabama or Ohio State, if you aren't producing right away, many times you just get recruited over.

Let's see what happens with Jurkovec at ND. Book is a Senior. If Jurkovec isn't the starter next year, he never will be.
He would sound good has a grad transfer.....id take him

Jeter - The general consensus with folks here was that he was real hit or miss based on the "motor." As others noted, the Duzz and Partridge have done well w/o him. As to what he said, people here say similar stupid things routinely, as would be "adults."

Wade - Always felt he was over rated, good, a good prospect, but not the big time prospect he was touted as. His career has shown that he was maybe a high three starish type. I do get some of the malice toward him about how he handled some things.

Hudson - always felt he was the big miss. They look like they are finally squaring the OLB spots away, but would have have to believe he would have helped this team in his career at a spot where they needed the help at that time.

But he was a 5 star player and ranked as the best player in PA. His play has come no where near that, even though most thought he was over ranked, too short, and not fast enough to play corner. Many thought that because of the competition he faced in high school. It was single A, and while you sometimes have players that perform well from single A (Tyler Boyd), you often have some not play to their ranking.

Zap I agree 100% that Wade was way overrated coming out of HS .He really struggled his first two years at Psu and now to me he seems to be holding his own.I really don't think if he was terrible that Franklin would be playing him so much. Last week in Myrtle Beach I played against a former Clairton coach on the senior softball circuit. We talked about some of the Clairton players and he has a different perspective of Wade than many oh here do.

PSU rotates every player on defense. So Brisker/Wade sharing time isn't abnormal there or a sign of everything. That rotation has higher snap counts for the 2nd string due to one of them playing nickel.

I think Wade is a solid player. He might be the 'weak' point of the defense but that is more of a testament to the other players than to him. I don't think his play has lived up to a 5* (best PA ranking) - but this year his play has been that of a low 4* player. I don't see a NFL future for him - but that is more due to size.

I see constant comparisons to ford and hamlin. His stats are similar to Hamlin and both trail Ford.

To say he wouldn't see the field at Pitt is crazy - Ford might be better - but Wade would see time and probably play well (much like Hamlin)

I doubt Wade plays over Hamlin or Ford at Pitt ... so, where would the playing time be coming from? Nickel, Delta? Maybe, but Pitt plays some kids in those packages that have better size/speed combos than Wade.

Damar Hamlin is much better than Wade at the moment; it is not fair to really compare the two presently.

So, I doubt it is crazy to say that he would not really see the field. It is not that he is not a good player, it is more that Pitt just has excellent personnel in the secondary at this moment.

Most defenses rotate players and very few players play 100% of the snaps. He would surely be in the rotation and probably take snaps from both Hamlin/Ford (in the rotation).

Also - he may have seen the field before Ford due to the issues Ford had his 1st couple of years, and I don't think Ford is clearly better than Wade (Hamlin yes) - so he may have taken that position and held onto it.

There is nobody else in your secondary who has the talent as Wade. Ford and Hamlin do - but the rest don't. He would get plenty of playing time.

LOL - You have no clue what you’re talking about. Wade would get less snaps at Pitt because we have a better secondary. Ford is better than Hamlin and Wade.

Did PSU ever play Wade at corner? That is what he was supposed to be out of HS.

I think Ford is the best player of the three though Damar is clearly the most consistent and has much more tape than either.

I just think Wade would have had a hard time getting on the field over these guys though I think that the timing point has some validity.

He is a better player than Therran Coleman, who sees good nickel and delta time. Not sure he is better than Hallett though ...

And as far as overall talent in the secondary, Mathis and Jackson have more physical talent than Wade ... Pinnock may, but he has a lot of size that Wade does not ... Pitt has just recruited the secondary very well recently. I do not think it is a shot at Wade as much as it is a lot of overall quality.

I think Wade would start at Pitt at RB if he went that route in college. I am somewhat surprised PSU never gave him a look there.
