after the constant drumroll about college BB cheating and paying recruits and the complaints and/or excuses because we supposedly don’t, a refreshing headline out today:

Witness: MSU coach ‘flat out’ refused to pay recruit.

Before we make Izzo a saint, I believe Dan Dakich has included MSU in the group of elite schools guilty of cheating.

I have no idea whether Izzo did or didn't. As far as making him a saint, I'd
suggest that people reflect on Joepa's past and those who tried or are still
trying to gain him admittance to sainthood.
Personally I don't eliminate any coach from the possibility of committing these
crimes. My guess is there are many coaches who play it straight and don't
cheat while there are those who do. How many?...I don't know. Is it most, or
is it a few?.....Again, I have no idea, but let's face it, it seemingly does exist.

I’m not calling him a saint, I just liked the refreshing headline.

And I get it, there are very few saints out there, most everyone has their skeletons. Except Jamie when he was here and JC currently.

Izzo's players have been accused of rape over a period of time and he never wanted to discuss it when asked by the media.

To me he is the biggest scumbag in coaching right now.

at what point is the school or at the very least, the Athletic Dept, going to be held accountable for some of this. Players getting arrested off campus in the off season continuously, the school needs to become involved. if it's 100% up to the HC, this is what creates these problems..

Blaming a coach or even a parent for an adults deviant behavior is unwarranted . No one whose sane would encourage that kind of behavior from someone they know . A coach should never get into the middle of legal matters involving one of his players unless he knows for a fact that the charges are 100% wrong . If the players a thug dismiss him from your program . Remember you never know everything about everybody you know .

There are bigger scumbags in the coaching ranks and you know it. It's quite a low bar.

And to be a jerk, one could say that Izzo said "I will not pay for a recruit." Maybe that means he said that just to this dude. Maybe it mean he himself, and not someone on behalf of him. It's bad to say, but I don't trust many coaches that say they won't pay for a recruit would it is so widespread. Sad, but true, you tend to believe a coach does cheat vs. he doesn't.

I think very few HC's deal directly in these transactions. Its more like "Hey, assistant coach, Recruit's handler wants 50K, I told him no way but its ashame because we could really use him ;)
