Someone screen shot the psu game and the stadium.

James Franklin is just not a good coach. He is Todd Graham without the coaching skills. Just a good salesman, which usually means you're just getting sold a bunch of b.s.

Speaking of attendance, Akron announced 23,400 for the game yesterday. For anyone who was there, if the bet was that the crowd was actually 1/3 of that would anyone take the over? That was the most inflated attendance number I've seen since the Wednesday night Pitt-UConn game in 2011.

Sorry, did not see that at 12:37PM in the game as you saw, if that was the case then Buffalo looked the same since it was 0-0 in the First Half?

However, Penn State OL did improve in the Second Half by learning to push Buffalo around and they have another 4 easy games to develop and improve on that too. Franklin playing Barkley at Running Back was a smart move and I predict he will end up starting by the 5th game or sooner. Mike Sanders should be re-thinking his selection of Penn State if that is were he wants to sit on the bench?

The Penn State Defense continue to have some break downs and Buffalo gave them a game until the later Third and Fourth Quarters!

Franklin will turn around the Offense these next 6 games, but still will struggle with OSU, Michigan, and MSU!

Captain, what makes you think he will turn the offense around? He has no track record of being able to di that. It may look better when they play bad teams, but they will continue to struggle on offense.

I'm guessing they had 50k at best.

Akron looked to have a good turnout for the game against us, my brother sent photos from the game and looked full with poncho wearers

Empty stadium and still 3x more than sunny day Pitt games.

Not hard when you not only take the name of the whole state but also pretty.much admit the whole state to your school as well. Congrats on being the Applebees of college football.

I'd take that bet. There were a lot of fans standing under the overhang. There wasn't 23, 400 but there was way more than 8,000.

I saw it. "The only windshield I wash is my Porsche, pool boy"lol well done.

That wasn't it. It was my response to the guy who posted the photo of Cosby. I didn't even mention JS' name; merely referred to the position he held there.

Everyone listen up!!!
That is 107k strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess they are not as strong as they think!
Imagine if they get 80k, they will claim 300k.

What you penn state idiots don't get is the more you open your mouth to tell others how great you are, the more foolish you look when you are proved wrong. What is even worse is you can't brag about wins and losses or championships. All you have is 107K. You are so dumb that you can't even see how pathetic that is. You run your mouths and thump your chests like you are on par with Ohio State or Alabama, and you are not even close. You look foolish and stupid, and people call you out on it. Try some humility, especially in the wake of all that has happened up there over the past few decades.
107,000 is great. But the point that a lot of people are making that the 107,000 figure is a sham. Even the 90,000 figure that is still being thrown around by their fans re: Saturday's attendance is a sham.

But that's always been the Nit way of doing things: when you don't like reality, create a "new reality", then repeat it over 'n over like a mantra until it catches-on with the masses. In their case, the "masses" are The Cult.

In the 1950's the same technique worked for Joe McCarthy with great success.....

Stadium looks empty thanks to their “every other row” strategy. Their AD is so dumb he did not realize with bench seating it is easy to simply move down a row!

Man, and you call Penn State fans conspiracy theorists. Every other row? really?

first, it was against Buffalo and it rained the entire time. At the start of a 5 game home stand. And we still had more fans than the average Pitt game. So congrats on that.

Second, There is no "Every other row" conspiracy. They probably have 95k season tickets/ticket plans sold. So at most it would be a 7 out of every 8 row conspiracy.

Third, you guys are getting way too worked up over a marketing hashtag. I know you're a little obsessed, but its not that big of a deal.

Fourth, we just got absolutely rinsed by temple. Probably turned a few people away for sure.

And to anyone saying we're inflating numbers of people in the stadium - we, like almost every other sports team, announces attendance based on tickets sold, not gate entries. That's why for the army game, attendance will be 106ish. I doubt it will be that full, but it's a sell out.

we'll get back up to the 103-105k average here pretty soon, IMO. until then, you'll have attendance against buffalo in the rain the game after we got rinsed by freaking temple in the mid 90s.

Ok, continue with your conspiracies.

The difference is that at least we're honest: we admit that our attendance isn't what we'd like it to be. But your "107,000 strong" is waay more than just a marketing hashtag. Your fans - and even your head coach - treat it like the gospel.

And what about that offer to give free tickets to military personnel for your Army game. So you schedule Army for the easy "W", but you have to give away the tickets to make the crowd look great? If your "tickets sold" figure is so magnificent, where are the freebies for the Army game coming from? And does giving away a lot of tickets equal a "sellout"? Or maybe you Nits have re-defined the meaning of the word "sell"?

I await your explanation - but be careful that your spinning doesn't cause permanent dizziness.

Well, you obviously were not there.

Actually yeah, I was. Sitting at the 35 yard line eight rows up from the Pitt bench. And surrounded by a sea of mostly empty bleachers. That's how I know that the notion that they were SIX deep standing under the overhang is completely absurd.

As far as how many people were actually there, Akron's stadium seats 27,000 people. Approximately 15,000 - 16,000 of them are in the second level. And the second level on both sides combined didn't have 1,000 people sitting in them. The lower level, which is approximately 12,000 seats, was no where near half full. 8,000 people actually in the house is certainly in the ball park.

#70Kstrong

The other thing PSU has to their advantage is its all bleacher seating. Since there are no chairbacks, especially not neon yellow ones, empty seats just dont stick out as much. Also, since its bleacher seating, your "seat" isnt as big, so if you're not in it, its less empty space on TV. Plus. PSU fans are typically fatter so there is less empty space to occupy wheb people no-show.

Good thing you didn't bring up the time Tom McAndrew meant to link a story about THON but instead linked the site he frequents to participate in gang bangs. Funniest thing I've ever seen on these boards. Making it all the better, it was supposed to be some quaint little story about a couple of livebirds who started THON back in the 70s.

Well I was there too, and surrounded by people... so, no idea what you are talking about. I can post photos if you like

I was also there. I sat for the first half directly on the 50 yard line on a "two seat bench" that was beside a place where wheel chairs likely normally go which was under cover. The crowd under the over hang was easily 4-6 deep during the first half. The second half, someone "stole" my little bench while I was buying a beer...so I stood under the overhang area for the entire second half. For nearly the entire game there absolutely was 4-6 deep from end zone to end zone on the Pitt general admission side. How many people that amounts to...I have no idea...but the area was jammed with Pitt fans. Hail to Pitt!

I walked through there three different times during the game, and there was never a time that they were six deep behind my section. Two or three? Sure. Six? Nope.

As to how many people that would be, well if people took up two feet of space and they actually were six deep that would be a total of 900 people.

Well I went down as far at the Pitt Band only once, as I prefer watching the game at the 50. Never once did I see or experience less than 4 or 5 deep. Obviously people were not neatly lined up...but the only premise I was making was that the area was very full and nearly impossible to walk through. I have no dog in the fight as to how many people were at Akron's stadium Saturday night--and frankly, could careless how many were there. I'd say Pitt was nicely represented in the house, considering the dreadful weather. I will say, it was one of the most miserable weather games from start to finish that I have attended--with not even a second of dry air. Hopefully it will be the only rain game of the season. Hail to Pitt!
