Really a great league. 4-5 bids every year. No Q4 losses (because they dont play Q4 games) so you know they're awesome. They've lost 15 of the last 16 1st Round/First Four games but is this the year they win a couple?

May you explain this scheduling strategy? I’m unfamiliar with it. Genuinely curious.

He's unfamiliar with it too. Because he doesn't understand what the NET is and how it works. So he assumes it's just like the RPI where playing really bad teams hurts your ranking no matter how you actually did in the game.

It's not actually true, but if you believe something strongly enough it might as well be.

They minimize playing Q4 games by

a) scheduling D2 games

and

b) just not scheduling them

Take Air Force out of it as they are basically a low major or lower mid-major who needs Q4 wins, the rest of the league has the following Q4 records

2-0
1-2
5-0
3-0
5-1
5-0
6-0
6-1
4-1
4-1

Here are the ACC's
10-0
9-0
7-1
10-0
6-0
9-2
10-1
8-1
9-1
8-2
6-3
8-1
7-2
6-2
3-4

ACC teams are supposed to be higher caliber than MWC teams but yet play weaker schedules. They schedule too many Q4 games which do not help at all. I mean, sure, due to NET counting scoring margin, if you win them all by 50, it will help but you know how these games go. Teams sleep walk through win, by 16-18 and that basically counts as a loss for NET.

Boise lost to NU

Other NeT scheduling key is to schedule a few tough (high NET) teams OOC to get a high SOS and if you lose a close game, you get a huge NET bump . Once you get into conference play with most NETs below 135, you can play a lot of Q2 games. Win your home games and you can have a NET in the top 50.

The Mountain West is 1-7 the past two seasons.... and that one was SDSU barely beating Charleston today.

The NCAA Committee needs to take a deep look at what metrics they're using, because the MWC should be at most a two-bid league EVERY year. They're no better than the AAC.

They are not better than the AAC. They are the A10. They are now 1-19 in their last 20 NCAAT games

They are the equivalent to the A-10, except they know how to schedule better.
