Whiney!!!!

Yeah he was bad, but I've seen Narduzzi over the years act quite whiney after a number of questionable PI calls (or the roughing the passer call last night). I recall on at least one occasion he earned himself an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that directly hurt the team on the field.

The truth is, college football coaches are generally a pretty whiney bunch. Watch the great Nick Saban for example.

The QB on the other hand, that was unusual IMO. I don't know if I've ever seen a QB walk directly up to a ref's face and complain at that length, and then put his hands on the ref.

I didn't notice Brohm, but I wasn't looking. Narduzzi went scorched Earth mode over that call on O'Brien, as he should have. As a result, they let a pretty obvious PI call against Woods go (right in front of the Louisville sideline, so I assume that was one Brohm was unhappy about).

The Kamara roughing the passer call was absolutely correct. Don't hate the call; hate the rule. When a dude's finger is hurting from getting it caught in the QB's facemask, that kind of removes all doubt as to whether or not he hit him in the head.

That Devonshire pick six just seemed like bad luck. Pitt defender ran into the primary target while chasing someone else. Didn't think it should have been a penalty or anything. I did see Plummer complaining about it, though.

Whitney coaches aside, I thought the refs interjected themselves into the game too much last night with the multiple borderline PI calls that could have easily been no calls, as well as the roughing the QB call on Kamara which coulda/shoulda also been no call.

Brohm was whining after every play. He was begging for a flag after the missed field goal.

I don't mind that though. That's part of the game. If yelling at the ref earns you one call it's better than being mature all game and not yelling.

Nice play by Deshields. Took the guy off his route while they were trying to pick. Hit him within 5 yards. Brohm and Plummer can complain all they want, but it wasn't a penalty.

They can say all they want they had meetings and pep talks and a special retreat in the mountains to discuss (after beating ND) that they needed to play well and respect every opponent equally…

Once PITT came out and punched them in the mouths a few times the entitlement crying game was on

I looked at their board I saw blaming refs from one guy … I saw another guy who dreamt up a conspiracy about the CW needing an upset to get viewers for this game…. I shit you not.

Anyone who saw LVille play NC state knows it was a rock fight that easily could’ve gone either way…I figured in a similar game PITT had a shot to win. Pitt dominated the second half defensively in particular… LVille Im happy to say had their asses kicked

As a general rule, all college football coaches whine/bitch/complain when things are going against them. Every single one. And we have one of the all-time greats at that right here. It's not worth making a thread about it.

That’s funny. I thought the refs were trying to give the game to Louisville.

Well, it "coulda" been a no call, but the rule is that if you hit the quarterback in the head it's a penalty, and he obviously hit the quarterback in the head (hard enough to hurt his hand), so it absolutely "shoulda" been a penalty. Because it was.

We can all disagree with the rule and think that the rule should be changed, but based on what is in the rule book today that was clearly a penalty.

You can play that game all day Joe. If you want to call that brush along his helmet a hit to the head go for it.

Of course, the rules are never as clear cut as you’re making them out to be. If they were, the Ville QB would have immediately got called for a penalty for pushing the ref, even though we all know he was just demonstrating what the Pitt defender did.

The only reason I called it a hit to the helmet is because it was, in fact, a hit to the helmet.

I mean he brushed him along the helmet hard enough that he hurt his hand and had to come out of the game.

That was, by the rule book, absolutely 100% a penalty.

the announcers thought it was weak.

Their QB was definitely a sour, whiner. Louisville fans are right up there with UCF fans on a side note.
Amen to that! Louisville fans have been a bunch of puffy chested wannabes since the days of the Big East. UCF fans are a bunch of idiots as well. Loved it when Pitt beat them to end their winning streak….

To further make your point, the UNC/Miami game had 21 penalties accepted. The announcers made a comment at one point that "there is a penalty flag on every play". UNC had 14 penalties.

By comparison, the Pitt game had 13 penalties accepted, of 8 were on Pitt.

I really don’t think he hurt his fingers because of it being a hard hit to the helmet. In any case, my main point is the rule book isn’t as clear cut as you keep trying to make it out to be. I think every game and every call or no call just emphasizes how much ref judgement and leeway there are in the calls.

I don’t either. I thought maybe he bent a finger wrong on an ear hole or a shoulder-my-pad.

I think it's weak too. But it's the rule. If you don't want something like that to get called a penalty, change the rule.

In an era where so much lip service is given to player safety, don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.
