Who Has the Best Fish Fry in the Pittsburgh Area?

Ingomar. Right down from Ingomar Elementary and across the street from the KeyBank that was robbed yesterday (or attempted to rob). Most excitement in these parts in decades. ;)

I think they do pretty well in the location. Much smaller than GE, but I like it because I can actually get in/out quickly. My only complaint (honestly), their bananas are way too green.

You are t kidding. I got some last week I had to let sit for a week.

Everywhere. Mostly Detroit, Ann Arbor and Bay City/Saginaw. But even places like Port Huron or St Joseph, Grand Rapids like I said “everywhere”

When in Bay City MI have you ever heard of a band named Steve Armstrong and the .25 Cent Beer Band.

The name of the band sounds like a joke but they're a really good Country Western Band.

They play rock - a - billy" music. Probably not your style of music but they're from Bay City MI.

They've been on the Northshore of Pittsburgh a lot at Tequilla Cowboy a few times.

We've been to their shows at the 702 Club, and Willews Lounge in Bay City MI, and at the Dow Events Center in Saginaw MI.

We usually stay at the Bay City DoubleTree -Hilton River location. Nice place.

Never heard of them. But yeah, stay at that Doubletree all the time, including a couple of nights last week. Believe it or not, 3 of my top 5 customers are in Bay City, MI. (mostly related to Dow Corning) And also, I am working with the wind farms in that area to qualify and use our product in them.

That is our parish but we've never tried their fish since they brought it in house. Is it good?
They originally fried it in tents outside the hall. Had pierogis, haluska & other stuff.
That's our parish, too, though we've been MIA lately. Fr. Mac was the draw.....the best.

Years ago, I regularly hit Motown. Offices in the Ren Center, Fisher Bldg., Troy, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Muskegon & even Marquette. Had to go from G.R. to Green Bay & Escanaba to fly into Marquette. Detroit is a shorter drive to Washington than Marquette. Good folks all over MI.
If you venture out to Trader Joe's, getting to Kuhn's shouldn't be a big deal. You exit off McKnight heading south and then straight down Ingomar Road. Kuhn's is on the left.
Actually, wifey goes to TJ's. I stay out of her way now that she's retired...she LOVES being a hausfrau again. No more commute to Mt. Wurschington. I ran the kitchen for a long time, since the Seat of All Wisdom is in our home. Wasn't fair to ask her to cook after she got home.

Give Fr. Jay a chance. I know someone from his old parish who said he was awesome. Quite the blow to their very large community. Sounds much like Fr. Mac and Sts J&P.

Yeah, was in a wedding in Detroit years ago with my buddy was from Escanaba and I met a girl from Marquette. So been there. That is my territory and as much as I would like to go there, it will take some big opportunities to go there because it is so damn remote and far. Marquette is almost 5 and half hours from Bay City.

It is funny, I have a lot of old school industry up here (automotive, paper, steel) but what is really driving my territory is green energy, which with Dow and all of the companies servicing them and all of the wind farms, business is "BOOMING" to quote a famous

Green energy driving business.....Imagine that??

Business is boomin' when both ends are driving business.

Here's something, my industry loves COLD winters and high gas prices. A lot of energy being consumed. High oil/gas drives a lot of drilling/exploration. High gas prices drive consumer unrest which puts more emphasis green energy initiatives.

What is most ironic, the company I work for makes many forms of the element 6 on the periodic table.

My only trip to the U.P. started in Detroit...flew to G.R. then to Green Bay, then Escanaba, then Marquette for a lengthy lunch. Caught the last thing smokin', backtracked to G.R. for the night. 7 short trips, only 2 planes. fortunately....all in good weather. Man, there's a lot of trees up there.

The thing about the Green initiative, it isn't all or none, cold turkey. It is a gradual transition.
I never understood who could argue with that??
The pump needs primed as the technology is developed and implemented, of course it does. But as with everything else, as things are figured out and improved and become more efficient, it gets more competitive.

The transition requires new equipment and installation, and planning and development, hence NEW jobs!

It is all about producing energy. Once you have energy, who cares where it comes from?? If energy can light and heat your house, power your vehicle, do what energy does, does it matter what the source was?

The electric grid in this country is archaic, I read somewhere that there is about a 50% waste factor associated with transmitting electricity from source to use. Sounds like fixing that would pay for itself pretty fast.

But it's just another political issue to demagogue and gain political power. Just like a million other things.
Keeping with the theme of this thread, green energy could heat the fish fryers!

Yeah no kidding. I always thought it is was ridiculous to politicize our energy policy. That being said, we do that to everything, right. One party can say it is night out, the other will counter, no it is day. One party can say this crap tastes like crap, the other will say no, that is filet mignon.

But what is worse than the parties doing this?? It is the people following suit.

How true! Even to the point of hurting their own best interests!

like all issues politicized, both sides go too far and refuse to meet in the middle. look no further in this hilariously naïve green deal being pushed from the left. then you got the right pushing for fossil fuels, both sides refusing to budge an inch, both sides having their head stuck in the sand.

NTOP, you should see downtown Detroit now. If you haven't been there in 10 or more years, would be virtually unrecognizable. It has come a long way in the past 7-10 years. Grand rapids was always a nice, clean town, but it has really changed for the better as well. Tons of great bars, restaurants, and of course what it's best known for--breweries.

It is a bit crazy that you can drive from metro Detroit to midtown Manhattan in less time than it would take drive from Detroit to Houghton, MI in the Upper Peninsula.

Bay City and Saginaw, and that whole Saginaw Valley flatland area of mid-Michigan between Flint and Bay City are hellholes. I'm sure you wouldn't disagree. In fact, I believe Saginaw is the worst city in Michigan from a poverty, crime and unemployment standpoint, worse even than Flint--and that's saying something.

Bay City at least has the waterfront aspect, but it's still a pretty grim place--and the Saginaw River is not the most desirable waterfront.

I have only been there once in the last 20 years....our Bowl Game vs. BGSU (daughter's alma mater). Troy was a nice burb back then.....like Lebo/USC here. Grosse Pointe like Sewickley w/o the hills. Grand Rapids was nice back then, too. I changed jobs a few times, worked Pgh-east coast until 1993. Self-employed since. I miss the fat checks & expense account....but call my own shots, no political assclowns in the home office.to answer to.

Frankenmuth is OK.....once or twice.

Ah, they'll all be fine when all those car plants open up again!

I saw that in parking lots in Muskegon. Makes Pgh look weak.
Meanwhile in southeast Michigan we've barely had any snow all winter, a trend over the past 10-15 years. The weather here and over to Ann Arbor and Lansing is about the same as it is in Pittsburgh.

West Michigan, northern Michigan and the UP are a whole different ballgame.

How is the FF at Epiphany in recent years? I haven't been there in many years and will likely be in downtown Friday afternoon.
By the way, how many of you attended the 2:30 AM "printers' masses" following a long Saturday evening?

Planning on St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in North Huntingdon tonight..

The stations of the Cross will be televised along with the Bishop..

Love fish fries, loved fried fish. Had a great fish sammich on Ash Wednesday. Unfortunately not just giving up booze for Lent, I am trying to eat healthier. So sushi for lunch, going to Penn Ave Fish to procure some tuna for a good grilled tuna salad for dinner.
