Beat NC State tonight for their second conference win of the season. After not having won a conference game in over three years. NC State outshot Pitt 25-5, and NC State had 12 shots on goal to Pitt's 2, but the NC State goalie didn't make any saves and Pitt wins, 2-1.

It looks like that win pushes us up to a tie for 8th in the standings and the top 8 make the conference tournament. We have three games left, none of which are against the top teams in the league. Making the conference tournament would be a huge step forward for the program.
This is what’s great about soccer and what stinks about soccer in so many ways. You get outshot 25-5 yet find a way to win. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled with the result. I’m just making a statement about soccer in general. It’s just a crazy game in that regard.
You mean not like football where Pitt dominated their last 2 games and barely won each one.
If you dominate a team outgaining them by 5X, which is a similar comparison to a 25-5 shot disparity, you’ll win that football game 90% of the time, if not higher. But in soccer, this kind of thing is always a possibility in every game.
NC State is a solid team, and getting the win is far bigger than it looks. NC State has been a tough team this year and has played other top ACC teams very close including ranked non conference.
They played a close one to South Carolina, beat Georgetown, tied Duke, tied UVA, tied Wake and tied VT. This win is big.

As a former referee. those are the games the losing team blames on the referee. I remember a game even more lopsided, winning team had 1 shot, a breakaway. the losing aside from umpteen shots, missed a pk. I was chased down by half the sideline and coach for the horrible job I did. Ok I get it, you dominated and couldn't score, even on a pk, and that's my fault of course.
