As much as I hate seeing penn state do anything good, I can only laugh at this game right now. Michigan State is flat out horrendous.
They have so many horrible teams. How is penny state ranked ahead of Boise st?
Michigan with their annual choke job. That loss to Iowa was a huge boost for penn state. Otherwise OSU and michigan would certainly both be in the playoffs, and I have no idea who would've won the 3 way tiebreaker to go the B1G champ. Game.
Kind of odd though because Michigan is clearly not the best team in the conference, and they absolutely steamrolled PSU. So a 1 loss Michigan team would probably be in, but getting embarrassed by a 2 loss Michigan still helps you when they lose. Such an odd conference.

Dream on................Pitt's defense was disgusting in the 4th quarter and only the fact that they could score saved that.
Are we comparing a 3-8, soon to be 3-9 team to one who has 8 wins, with two of those over Top 10 teams?
It's important to note - Pitt is a really good team.. but that doesn't mean everyone PSU plays is mud...
Outside of OSU, tell me how many of those other teams have a great win over an OOC opponent? Beating up on Rutgers, Maryland, MSU, Illinois, etc. does nothing to promote the conference as being great.
Again, great job on PSU taking care of business in a watered down BIG outside of UM and OSU.
I only watched 1 entire game that PS played in this year. It was the 42-39 Pitt win. Quite frankly, I refuse to watch PS or Baylor for the disgusting acts that took place at both places. Football should never be placed above rape.
It's hard to tell how good some of the top B1G teams are because the bottom 1/2 of the league is so bad. Especially the bottom 3-4 teams.
Really, beyond OSU and Michigan I question whether any of the teams in the B1G are any better than the top 4 in the Coastal division. I'd have to say it would be a coin flip in matchups between Wisconsin, PSU, Minnesota and Nebraska vs VT, UNC, Pitt and Miami.

They are a very good team, that's not disputable. Tons of weapons offensively. The Big Ten has really good teams at the top, although Nebraska is really not very good. The problem is how bad the rest of the conference is makes for some teams playing cupcakes almost all season.
Like I said in an above post, an odd conference. Certainly you can't look at the overall Big Ten and call it bad, that is a ridiculous stretch. There's just a lot of disparity between teams.
Congrats tho, we both have reason to celebrate. PSU playing for conference championship, good win for Pitt now against PSU. 2 wins for us against top 10 teams that could be conference champions. Good time to bring the rivalry back, PA football is looking good.
Penn State is a good team. They are probably somewhere around the 20th best team in the country. But they got a very favorable schedule. They lost their 2 toughest road games and the only 4 other teams with a pulse that they played, they played at home and won close games vs all (Temple, Min, OSU, Iowa though that was a blowout).
Pitt is also 10-2 vs that schedule. Maybe 11-1 but full credit for beating the teams in front of them and taking advantage of weak schedule.

Just great to know even with a sub-standard team like we have this year we could still win the big 10 conference.

Why? Syracuse is much better. That's not even debatable. Don't look at the school names and just watch the kids play. Syracuse has one of the best wide receivers in America. Their qb who didn't play today is extremely athletic at that position. Michigan State is a train wreck this season, a total train wreck.
Syracuse is not a good team don't get me wrong, Michigan State is just really that bad. When you're bad teams that don't win many games, there's a big gap between 4-8 and 3-9 also.
No one can project anything with this defense. Pitt can lose to just about anyone of note. Pitt is better than NC and IMHO V Tech by a small margin. Ok ST is a good team so Pitt did well but not sure they win there. But Pitt could have two more wins with a decent defense. Shame really Pitt just stunk on D. But next year holds promise as to potential so hopefully things come together. Pitt would still put up points on the nits. But the D is so bad.

You are the blind one my friend. What does Michigan state have that is anywhere near a good receiver and qb? Syracuse is not good, I know that. Michigan state though is absolutely terrible. But you have said nothing to prove otherwise.
You are a typical casual old school fan. You probably think Notre Dame is good this year, Texas is a national power right? Try watching a game now and then. Syracuse having one good thing is far better than Michigan State, who has absolutely nothing at all going for them.

Seriously, why? MSU's "best" win is against a 4 win ND team. Syracuse beat VT who is currently ranked #17. Based on that, not sure why I would "cringe" thinking on an open field Syracuse would beat MSU.
Heres the facts - Pitt gave up over 60 points to Syracuse at home today. PSU gave up 12 against Michigan State at home today. And your trying to tell me that Syracuse is a better program than MSU how??? Because of today? Because of last year? Because of the last decade? What proof? Here is the dumbest down way to tell someone at your IQ level, the 2016 Syracuse Football team is not nearly as much of a mess as the 2016 Michigan State football team. I don't think you're trolling either, you just see a big name school and think they're good.
They are 3-9 and have no wins worth noting nor players worth mentioning. Just the fact that Syracuse beat Va. Tech and has one of the best receivers out is better than anything Michigan State can claim... this season!
I never said anything about their programs either, that is why you can not stop thinking the way you do. Michigan State is a far superior program to Syracuse, my god they're not even in the same universe. But this season, 2016, Michigan State is one of the worst P5 teams in America.
I'm sure you'll be the first to say that overall records do not indicate strength of a team (PSU 10-2 vs Pitt 8-4). So why does Michigan States record vs Syracuse's record have anything to do with it? My point is - your hate for PSU is not validated by claiming MSU is a garbage team. You beat PSU this season. That's a great accomplishment. PSU is a top 10 team and a quality win. No one is taking that away from you. Next year I hope PSU beats Pitt. But anything can happen.

In all seriousness,I hope I'm not banned from this site. I enjoy the debate with the good Pitt fans (the ones who really know football). I think it's great that my Lions and the Panthers are winning A LOT!!! The back and forth about who's better is so much fun. For so long - we didn't have this fun. You guys are really on the rise! Narduzzi is a great coach. Maybe we differ on opinions (obviously) but that's why I enjoy visiting this site. FYI - Syracuse is so much worse than MSU (LOL).

You're right. Our hatred of Penn State was "validated" when your coach and administrators allowed a pedophile to roam free for a couple of decades because they didn't want it to affect the football program. The fact that Michigan State is garbage this season has nothing at all to do with that.
This. They are a good team but just happened to get almost every tough game at home. I think they are top 15. I think pitt and psu are pretty even. If u swap our game after we played (home temple/road ok st) we would both be 9-3.
