Not insurmountable down 14 . This team needs a group cold shower to wake the hell up at the half ..
Yeah Xavier is hot and offensively has a strong game plan, but it looks to me like we are getting out hustled. They are running harder up and down the court than we are, and getting some easy looks because of that.

Agree it isn’t insurmountable. But need a really hot start in the second half.
It was important Pitt got it down from 19 to 14 in that last minute in a half. The way Kunkel is shooting this game could have easily been 20-25 point lead for Xavier if Pitt wasn’t careful. Gonna have to make a run to start this 2nd half in the first 5 minutes or so and hope Xavier cools off some shooting.
Have to be impressed with Xavier. Understand our D is not good, but I really like the makeup of their team and their execution. Clearly, a well-coached team.

Ain’t over yet. This doesn’t have the same feel of the Duke game where we are completely overmatched. I think the panthers have a run left. We’ll see
Burton and needs to be looking to kick out when he drives. There are outside looks to be had but they aren’t looking to pass
Well, we're clearly not playing Mississippi State or Iowa State. These guys hit open shots. On the other hand, we've missed a ton of very makeable shots.

BTW - we should put someone on Kunkel whose assignment is "get in this guy's shorts and never leave". The kid can't do anything but spot up shoot, but never give him an open look.

It happened the first two as well, those teams just happened to shoot awfully.
Good news is there have been very few second chance points, as they’ve not missed any shots.
Dang. Can’t just lose an honest 7 point game, have to be humiliated. Then Texas will tear Xavier in half to make it worse.
Don’t want to crush these guys, because the season has a pleasant surprise! Cummings and Burton have been zeros in this game! We have had 6 possessions where Burton dribbled for 11 seconds while backing his guy down and then missing shot, or turning it over and 4 for cumming like that. That’s 10 empty possessions.
Yea we have seen 10-15 point leads in these games evaporate fast. Pitt has been down by 10 plus in a bunch of games at the half and have found ways to win games. Can’t let this thing spiral out of control though early in the 2nd half. Gotta go on a little run limit their opportunities and just gotta hope they cool off. Xavier continuing to shoot at the current pace they have been will be hard to do. They should cool off some but Pitt has to have something to do with that as well.
Agree. If you're going to allow open 3's, make someone other than a Kunkel shoot them.
And the guy makes every shot because we're playing piss poor defense. It's getting monotonous. We have one game where we play good defense and then the next game we forget how to play defense. Xavier's ball movement was the key to the assists and made baskets. We're trying but just can't keep up.
Yea Burton is trying to beat his guy off the dribble too many times so far in this 1st half and it’s just not working and it’s leading to too many turnovers.
By percentage, coming into today he was only their third best three point shooter.
They are pounding us at our own game. Teams scout well though and we stopped getting the ball movement we were getting earlier in the season. We have such a tough time getting open 3's anymore, especially for Hinson and Elliot.
Statistics are nice, but you have to recognize when someone simply gets hot and you can't keep letting that guy go off. Force him to put the ball on the floor or pass.
Tough half… would’ve been nice if Kennesaw St would’ve been able to hold them off and not choke that game away Friday.

I agree, but clearly the game plan coming in was to not let Boum go off. Which worked as far as that goes, but the rest of it, not so much.
But if we start shading the defense to make sure Kunkle doesn't get shots and we end up letting their best player get going, how is that going to help?
It hasn’t been working well for a few games now. Sometimes you have to realize that and adjust.
And yes I realize it’s how we won the MSU game.
I disagree with the outside looks to be had. That is false. If you watch closely Xavier is letting the dribble drive happen and the help defender is not peeling off the 3 point shooter because they know that’s what we want. They are playing strict man to man and help defense is only coming from under the rim.
The scouting report is out on how to defend us. Stay on the good shooters on the outside and play the dribbler man to man with only help coming from the big covering our center
They are not near as good as they are playing so far. The difference between them and our first two opponents is they can make open shots. I doubt they will get anywhere near the amount of open shots against Texas. Plus I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas get Nunje fouled out.
