It's a shame that a player with
X's talent couldn't make it
successfully work out for him
here. IMO it's his own fault.

I don't know where he's going
to land or what program would
best fit him. I feel what would
be best for him would be a
coach who straight up makes
it clear that he wants his talent,
but won't stand for his
nonsense.

A top program like a NC for
instance could and probably
would make clear what those
expectations are, and what would
happen if he reverts back to
what caused him problems at Pitt.

On the other hand, a lesser
program and coach might allow
almost anything if they could
land a talent like X.
It'll be interesting.

I can't see him going to a top program and being a backup. He's got to maximize his time on the court and produce. He's not going to change his game and I can't see any top named school/coach putting up with it. So I think any of the better schools aren't in play.

Maybe a Pitt like program that lacks a point guard.

He might be better served to drop down a little and play for a school that will let him go off and do what he wants against lesser competition. He could put up some big numbers and parley that into a decent gig overseas.

We basically agree. You mentioned
"he's not going to change his game."
IMO if he doesn't change it, it's
not going to bode well for him.
Someone has to get in his ear, and
tell him that his talent isn't enough.
Yes he's talented, but he's got to
adjust how he plays, and also how
he acts on the court.

"decent gig overseas".....yup that
could happen, but if wants the
NBA, as I'm sure he does, he better
"change."

I predict that he’s going to be one of the five most-pursued transfers this offseason. He’ll be presented with the opportunity to have starter-level minutes at point guard for a contending program.
He'll absolutely be of the highest pursued players.
Super athletic, leads the ACC in assists, 80% from the ft line, over 14ppg.
A bunch of coaches are going to be all over that and ignore all his shortcomings.

Or coaches will recognize the shortcomings and, given that college basketball coaches tend to fall somewhere on the scale between “stubborn” and “arrogant,” will believe that they can improve them with the change of scenery. They might be right, or they might not.

If what you say happens to X,
for his sake it would be better
if it's a coach who won't stand
for the "stuff" that hurt him
here. Someone needs to get in
his ear and get him to find not
just any coach and program, but
one that changes how he plays and
how he acts on the court.

Just my two cents.

If a team needs a point guard, they'll still need one if they take X.

You guys are crazy. He is a headcase. I'll give you another example of where he ends up:

- a place like GT - a Pitt-level program who loses their PG and will be really bad so like WTF, might as well roll the dice.

You guys thinking he's going to Louisville or Michigan State are killing me.

He will easily go to a P5 program. We see it time and time again. Everyone needs a quick fix and everyone believes they can fix someone else's issues. X will go to a place and play very similar to how he does now and that program will benefit and suffer from it.

McGowens is really no different at Nebraska than he was at Pitt, but he is still one of the better players that the Huskers have. He and X are good if you need an immediate fix in a bad situation and for a bad team. However, they are not likely guys who you want on a really good team.

I’m not sure any coach who runs a structured offense would be interested in having X run his team .

It’s a shame he just doesn’t get the concept of playing within a game plan .

Not being able to be content at Pitt where he was given the opportunity to run the team from day one doesn’t speak well for his maturity level .

If he’s blaming the coaching staff for his lack of development he’s mistaken . Coaches point you in the right direction the rest is up to you to put the time in and to comprehend the changes you need to make to become the player you want to be .

Will be interesting to see where he lands .

He’s gonna have more options than the RMU kid. Book it.

No way. Driving out of control all the way to the hoop won't work for a contending program either.

How he acts is his number one problem. That has affected how he plays. That and the fact that he has terrible shooting mechanics. He will never change how he acts just like it is far too late to do anything about his terrible shooting mechanics.

His whole problem is he thinks he's better than he actually is. His up and mostly down play can't be his fault, he has to blame somebody else. That would be the pitt coaching staff.

He will absolutely go to a good P5 program. Alot of his shortcomings are a result of playing with a team who had no competent center or talented shooting guard. Top talent can make a kid like XJ an all-american. Lack of talent can make one try to do too much.
His shot is his biggest problem. If he is on a team with talent at all positions, I think many of you will be surprised how much better he performs.

It's possible, i don't know how good he'll be.
But i do know huge names will be inquiring and the list is going to be long.

There’s no denying X’s ability , but that’s not the issue . He’s had 21/2 yrs to show that’s he’s improved his understanding of the role he needs to play and he’s been unable to adapt , grow or improve . He’s also been unable despite constant prodding by the coaching staff to control his on court emotions . No one outside the program knows the dynamics between X and the coaching staff , but turning your back and leaving now before the season is over also says a lot . A leopard cannot change his spots , and I’m not sure I’d want this kind of kid on my team . I hope he straightens his head out .

This team with Johnson, McGowns, Toney, Champagnie and Hugley had a shot at greatness if they only adopted the team attitude of Michigan’s Weber, Rose, etc., instead some choose to show off their self-serving individual talents and character flaws, which always ends in mediocritry.
