Recruiting Article Lowe makes a quick trip to watch Pitt play

Jaland Lowe really wanted to see Pitt play a game in person.

So much so, in fact, that the future Panther jetted into town from Texas to go to Pitt’s Saturday afternoon tilt against Clemson and left early Sunday morning. It was a trip that had him in Pittsburgh for roughly 16 hours, but Lowe got a chance to do exactly what he had been hoping to do.

Recruiting Update Official visit update: Saturday morning

Just to confirm: all four expected official visitors are in town.

Plus Penn State QB transfer Christian Veilleux.

I'm working today to see if anyone additional showed up, but it sounds like Pitt should be able to lock up all four of those guys by the end of the weekend. Whether they all announce or not remains to be seen, but that's the expectation.

OT: Bernie Kosar fired from Browns radio broadcast for betting on Browns

KOSAR FIRED

“Former Browns quarterback and Ohio native Bernie Kosar said he was fired from the team's radio broadcast team on Sunday. Kosar admitted earlier this week to placing a bet on the Browns to win the game. Ohio made sports betting legal on Jan. 1"

''We understand what Bernie means to this community and our history,'' the team said in a statement Sunday night, ''but as team contracted personnel hired to provide content on our media platforms his bet was a violation of NFL rules and we must adhere to all NFL policy.''

NFL might add an 8th AFC playoff team

They are trying to figure out what to do about the Bills/Bengals cancelation. No decision yet and I'd suspect they will wait until after the Sunday games to see where teams are and how Bills/Bengals affect playoff seeding. For seeding purposes, Bills/Bengals could potentially be huge as the Bills have a shot at the 1 and homefield vs KC in the AFC Championship. And the Bengals have a shot at the 2 and homefield in the divisonal round.

If you want to know my idea, here goes:

If Bills/Bengals affects seeding, play it next Thursday.

3 Wild Card games on Wednesday, January 18 (6 days later) 3PM, 6:15, 9:30

2 Division Round games on Tuesday, January 19 (6 days later)

AFC Championship on MNF on January 30,
(6 days later) 1 day after the NFC Championship

This would be the most "fair" way to do things and seems better than some other options such as a neutral site championship but CBS would hate this, I would think so they wont do it.

2 local players who need more......

respect & attention for their contributions to our recent success. Blake Zubovic & Jake Kradel have done whatever asked of them in their time at Pitt. They both have been used in multiple ways to help the O-Line stay competitive regardless of the opponent.
So glad they are both coming back next year as their leadership will go a long way toward advancing our goals.

H2 PITT !!!

Potential visitors this weeked and timing with enrollment

So just trying to figure out timing...Pitt's Add/Drop ends the 20th. So if a player wants to enroll for spring they have to start by that date right? If that is the case, more transfers could visit this weekend and commit and start classes by the 20th. So it would seem Reynolds would have more time to take visits this weekend (as would others), but also Pitt would have opportunity to bring in more portal guys they may be interested in.

Recruiting Update Transfer visitor update (Sat. AM)

This is probably going to go on all day, but here's the first update of the day:

Florida WR Daejon Reynolds made it in to Pittsburgh for his visit last night.

With UNLV WR Kyle Williams, it sounds like his interests have shifted to Washington State. He was pretty high on Pitt coming out of the contact period in December, according to people who know him and have spoken to him about his interests, but it sounds like that shifted and he'll probably end up at Washington State.

We'll keep an eye on things today. I imagine the transfers will be at the basketball game, so we'll get some visual confirmations (hopefully). And we'll post anything else we confirm during the day as well.

    Votes: 7 4.1%
  • No, he retires before he gets there

    Votes: 19 11.2%
  • No, he gets fired before he gets there

He's 49 behind ol' Jocky boy. WHO YA GOT?

Relevant information so you don't have to look it up:

Pat is 49 wins behind Jock
Pat is 56 years old
Benkovitz was way better than Wholey's and it makes me sad that it's no longer there every time I come back home to visit

“Way too early” (emphasis on this) top 25 for 2023

Brett McMurphy has Pitt 22nd, and 4 other ACC teams in there too (UNC, Louisville, FSU and Clemson).

Silly to do these I know and they tend to favor the name programs, but still nice to see some recognition from a national guy. I’m not even sure I’d have Pitt in there, but it’s kind of hard to look at all these programs with who they return/who’s leaving (and obviously this is all still in flux).
