Cignetti…Part II

So I put out an original thread basically discussing how impressive Cignetti was in the UCLA game in my opinion. So after listening to the Patti interview I feel like I should clarify, maybe even change my opinion because it was based on intel(generally factual) I was told. I’ve gone back and forth in my mind wether to dive down this rabbit hole but I’ve decided if I have credibility I owe you guy this.

I can’t help to think that Slovis wasn’t all in. I don’t want to call him out as a POS but I know what went down in his final call wit Duzz. Without diving to deep I believe Nick Patti 100%. I now question the QB decision making process that led us down the road with Slovis. Lets just say there were some cheap shot, based on Patti’s feedback regarding Cignetti, by Slovis. So honestly to me the lesson is character matters in life and it’s a shame Slovis was seen by staff as significantly better than Patti. Makes sense now why Duzz threw a shot at Slovis after he left. Not sure if this is kinda the bridge to nowhere stuff guys but knowing what I know and now what Patti thinks, fvck Slovis.

FEDE!

I think Fede has really been such a difference maker. Mostly defensively, but he is contributing on both ends. When he comes off the floor, our defense suffers badly, like in the later part of the 1st half. I think he played the entire 2nd half, and that was a huge reason we were able to get back in it. We are not the same team when he has to sit.

OT: NFL ruling "no contest."

im trying to think what this means. bills / bengals will be no contest and something about an AFC Neutral site game if it's the bills and chiefs..

At first glance, the really only team it screws over is the ravens who could have possibly beaten the bengals and leap frogged them for the division, thus getting at least one home playoff game..

It could have hurt the bills a tad cause IF they would have won, and win next week, they would have gotten the home field 1 seed. BUT, they could have easily lost to the bengals and then would have had to play the Chiefs in KC for the afc championship game. Now, with this neutral game format, they'll most likely play the chiefs at a neutral site.

So not that big of a deal i dont think. Of course you can see that im pretty much assuming we see a Chiefs / Bills AFC showdown.

Bobby Petrino

took the job at UNLV last month. but he's quit that already.

Our NET is a real problem

Only moved up 3 to 68. Incredibly, our RPI is 44. Using 44, we would he pretty safely in if the field was announced today. Using NET, we really wouldn't be very close.

The NCAA never released their formula for NET which upset a lot of people. I suspect there reason for not releasing it was so coaches couldn't game it. I'd like to see someone reverse engineer it because some of these discrepancies are remarkable. For example, James Madison is 43 in NET but 108 in RPI. RPI isn't even factored in anymore so we all may be setting ourselves up for disappointment. Even if we go 9-7 to finish 13-7, it wouldn't seem like our NET would move up that much, perhaps not much higher than 60 especially considering we may well lose 1 to FSU/Lou/BC

DR - NFL HOF finalist

here are the finalists. for me: barber, Hester, lewis, Zach Thomas - not Hall of Famer's. tory holt, Andre johnson, reggie Wayne: those 3 are so similar. I'm guessing they get in but separate years. Patrick willis: great player but I don't think he gets in this year, or maybe ever. he was really good but short career and he wasn't totally dominant.

Joe Thomas: first ballot guy? for me, he is. Darren Woodson should've already been in. ware, freeney, and Allen should get in - just like the WR's - do they go in the same year? I doubt it. freeney isn't a first ballot guy. guessing Allen or ware get in this year.

willie Anderson was an absolutely stud. he can get in whenever IMO.

the DB's: barber, revis, lewis, Woodson. probably 1 or 2 gets in. I think Woodson gets in this year. barber or lewis over DR? I can't see that. in a 5 year period, DR was the most dominant CB in the league.

voters are fickle in giving out that first ballot thing. terrell Owens, who definitely deserved it (despite his personality), but didn't get it. I really don't know what happens. seems like a coin flip to me.
