Proposed College Football Super League

csfl-power-12-schools.jpg

"College Sports Tomorrow, which is a group of executives and administrators, has proposed streamlining college football into a “Super League” called the College Student Football League (CSFL). Details of the plan have been in the works for months, but were unveiled by the group on Tuesday."

Some more positive pub....

This was published before the game today.

Behind a paywall but it's list of college football's 10 most surprising teams. PITT comes in at #3.

"Pitt’s offense is back thanks to new OC Kade Bell from Western Carolina and Alabama transfer Eli Holstein at quarterback."

Response to mailback topic

Chris with all due respect, Daniel Carter has been at Pitt for six years. He was finally given a chance to showcase what he can do, and he averaged over 15 yards per carry and scored three TDs. Yes it was Youngstown State, but until Daniel Carter shows that he doesn't have the ability to be a very productive back, I think he has earned the right to be the number two back. He has earned it through blood, sweat and tears. The guy has tranformed himself from a 240lb FB into a 215lb RB with quickness, vision and still a lot of power. Rodney Hammond is a nice back to have , no doubt about that, but he has done nothing to get this team to 4-0. He has done nothing this year to prove he deserves carries over Daniel Carter. I have never understood the hesitation by the coaches to give Daniel Carter the ball more. He has done nothing but be a leader for this team, taken a team first attitude and in the extremely limited times he has been given the opportunity to carry the ball, he has done very well. What say you Chris Peak and others?

H2P!!!

Bitching

We have the only fanbase that bitches about their team when they are 5-0. I don't care what or who gets the rush yards! The last time I looked Eli was part of the offense. This system is designed for the QB to have the option to run or throw. As far as the o-line play? I didn't see anything really to bitch about. The problem is our fanbase expecting the perfect game every week. Let me enlightened you, no one plays a perfect game ever.

Mack Brown after the North Carolina loss

“We didn’t think we were going to stop them very well, so we made a conscience decision going in we need to score touchdowns – we couldn’t be kicking field goals,” UNC coach Mack Brown said. “The analytics said to go for every one of them. ... If we made them, we’d be talking about how aggressive and smart the coach was.”

Clock management again (Cincy)

Down 3. Ball at TT 33. Just picked up a 1st down so clock starts on the ready to play. 28 seconds left. No TO's. A Cincy player limped off the field on the prior play so I guess that gave TT the opportunity to sub. TT takes their sweet-ass time jogging players on and off the field. Cincy is set to snap at 28 seconds but by the time TT players leisurely stroll off the field, there's 15 seconds when the ball is snapped.

1. Is there a rule against how long defensive teams get to sub?

2. Shouldn't Cincy had not subbed and just spiked it with 28 seconds?

Chris - OPI

Chris,

Is there a conscience effort to not call OPI?

For example, WVU's last TD against Pitt was obviously OPI. The WVU receiver grabbed the Pitt defender by the face mask. There was no call.

Today I watched an OSU receiver grab the Iowa defender by the shirt and pull him away. With his free arm he secured the catch for a TD. Again there was no call.

In each instance the ref had an excellent view of the infraction. Yet neither reached for their flag. In addition, there were other instances in games I watched this week.

Undisciplined!!!

I just get so frustrated with the stupid penalties that continue to happen in every game. I know that HCPN only puts so much emphasis into this, but it just gets so frustrating to watch. On defense, it doesn't seem to matter quite as much (sadly, as the D hasn't really managed to stop a whole lot with these long drives and 3rd downs being converted along with 2 of 3 4th downs). On offense however, it has really hampered multiple drives over the year. Even when it's on 1st down, how many drives have we had to start already deep only to then make it even worse with being 1st and 15 or 20. O-line is one thing, but there have been multiple holdings called on our TEs with at least one each game and often more.

Now, I know that this isn't going to change as it's been the same script every year of the Duzz era, but I just needed to vent!
