Sun Bowl QB -

What’s funny is we could start Patti, Yarnell, Kyler, Jared Wayne, or just have Hammond run the wildcat all game and the offensive production will still be better than the Oregon St Sun Bowl.

But man - this is now like the 3rd Bowl in 5 where we have had QB issues. Peterman gets hurt and DiNucci finishes the Pinstripe. Patti gets hurt and Beville finished the Peach. God only knows who will get snaps in the Sun Bowl.

Riveting analysis on Pitt from Farrel

Only the second time i have been on psn. I wanted to see that Morgan article. I stumbled across this pulitzer worthy analysis. One draw back is he didn't cite which pantherlair posters he took this info from and copied. He did apparently read an espn Pitt article or two before putting it together.
I walked away so enlightened.

A month into the season just curious what you guys think.

There are some positives so far from this team like the Northwestern and NC State win. The 3 point shooting. But I don't know it still feels like this a team and program that we can all see lose like 9 of 10 in Jan/Feb and collapse like pretty much all Capel' teams do.

Big John is a shell of himself and it doesn't look like to me he is going to contribute much of anything meaningful this season. When you're relegated to 10 minutes of the bench against a team like Scared Heart, you know there's a problem. And he stunk the 10 minutes he was in.

Look I started to have a glimmer of hope that this season might surprise us all after the Northwestern and NC State wins but watching the past 2 games against Vandy and Sacred Heart has brought me back down to reality.

I just don't see this Pitt team doing much in the ACC and not even coming close to a postseason invite. The question is will Heather have seen enough and get rid of Jeff. That's the big question. I'm gonna say yes. Another late season collapse will put the final nail in his coffin. I say Jeff Capel will not be back next season.

John Morgan Leaving Pitt

Anybody else just not care anymore? Apathy toward college football is really starting to settle in. Watching these dudes transfer just to transfer, try to negotiate NIL deals and commit to the highest bidder as 18-year-olds, etc. is just becoming super cringy. I liked college football because it wasn't about the contracts, free agency, etc. Now, it's like a thousand times worse: At least the NFL is regulated. College football has become the quintessential reflection of the me-first social media generation. I actually think I hate this sport now.

Eff it. Seems like the Pirates will be interesting in the near future anyway.

OTish: DePaul/NIL

I have a few friends that are die hard DePaul hoops fans (maybe the only ones under 40) and I go to a handful of games every year. Tonight was my first this season. Mark Aguirre was in the house and it’s always fun to be around a HOFer.

First, DePaul stinks. They had some momentum under Stubbs at the beginning of last year both on the court and off, but they’ve had a lot of their highly touted recruits/transfers not pan out due to injuries and other issues. They’re really bad this year and the first 15 Min or so of the game tonight was some of the worst basketball I’ve seen all year and I’ve watched every Pitt game. Umoja Gibson is pretty good.

That’s not really the point of my post though.

Before and during the game they had several little NIL videos on the Jumbotron with a QR code that you could scan to donate to their NIL initiative. They also had similar stuff throughout the arena. NIL is front and center for them and it couldn’t be easier for fans to donate directly to their NIL fund to support the players and recruits.

How is freaking DePaul getting this right and we’re not? It needs to be corrected immediately or we’re just going to fall further and further behind.

ESPN Volleyball Announcers

Giving credit where credit is due, I thought the announcers for the Pitt v Florida match, who also did Wisconsin v PSU, were very good, as was the camera work, except for not having a camera on the baseline when Fisher challenged the out call. That was a huge point in the match. The call being reversed gave Pitt a 24-21 lead and the won the set on the next point.

I would think they always would want a baseline view as well as a good view on both sidelines. They did have that on the challenge by Florida.

We’ve had to listen to some terrible announcers this year on ESPN+ so it’s nice to get some professionalism at the Regionals. I’m on the West Coast so I also watched San Diego, which beat us in 5 sets early in the year. They are for real. I didn’t see Stanford, who they play Saturday in the regional final.

Interesting entry into the Portal

Nate McCollum, WR @ GT. He’s a 5-11, 185lbs. Had 60 receptions for 655 yds and 3 TD’s this season. Also handles kickoff and punt returns. Strikes me as a Maurice French type and has 2 more years of eligibility. Hopefully Pitt reaches out.
