This program is freaking cursed. Seriously, freaking cursed. Between suspensions, injuries, etc... we have our share plus ten on a yearly basis. I know injuries and so forth are part of football and all teams go through them but my god does Pitt get hammered with this kind of stuff. Can we ever have a season where injuries are limited and suspensions are non existent.

Motley also on crutches don't know the severity.

Injuries are common for all football teams, as are the odd suspensions and player dismissals. They seem worse for the team your rooting for simply because you pay more attention to that team than any other.

This one will hurt though, because the 'next man up' isn't likely to perform at nearly the same level as Aston.

This hurts - no other way to put it. It's very rare that you can say that losing your fullback to injury is losing one of your offensive weapons. This season just doesn't feel good to me.

We're going to really see what HCPN is made of over the first month of the season as he'll be playing with a hand tied behind his back.

Aston is a beast and this is going to hurt. Being a PITT player he will be able to get the best medical help available.

Let's hope this does not require surgery.

Get well Aston!

I read an article recently about Coach Cherpak from Thomas Jefferson limiting the hitting during practice, and his belief that it makes his players actually hit harder during the games. I know most teams work their players hard during camp, but I wonder if Pitt should ease up a bit until Narduzzi gets the depth to the level of the better teams on their schedule.

Another one bites the dust!
This is why we cant shoot both feet off with " dumb as-" stuff like suspensions because injuries are going to happen!
And for all you Next Man Up dopes we don't have many men to step up because we mostly recruit 3 stars you the sun shines everyday losers!
Good put a 3 star freshman in against the Nitters or OSU????????
Grow up!
The staff somehow didn't communicate the essence of team which is we all have to work together so when a player gets suspended pre season somehow they didn't get that memo!
Prior to all of this chaos I thought 10-2 /9-3 would be reality. Now 7-5/6-6 if we get lucky!
The 8-4 ???

Some of you guys are ridiculous... The season is over? We're cursed?

Here are articles of players that have been suspended so far this year. I didn't even try hard and all these came up while Googling

Was the season over when Conner got injured? No. Ouadree Ollison stepped up... Someone will step up. These things DO NOT only happen to Pitt. Stop living in a vacuum...

Nowhere on that list do I see one team with this level of missing players for the 2017 season: 2 dismissals of key players DT & DE, 1 superstar suspension for 3 games, 1 starting LB suspension for three games, 1 OT suspension and three injuries Ford,Tipton and Ashton. And I may have missed one?

I'm sure there's players who would love to fill in and step up but sometimes that's not physically possible.

When Conner was out we had lots of RB's to fill in that's not the case for most of these spots. And he was just one player.

At this time looking at a 7-5 /6-6 if we get lucky 8-4 season if I were Narduzzi to make a large point I might suspend Whitehead, Bookster, and Wiggins for the season to make the point that the team is the team and you aren't part of the team when you get suspended.
Maybe that might penetrate the thick heads of current players and future recruits!

It's cumulative...we've lost 7 starters for the first game and 6 for the first 3 already..we have 3 weeks to go you think this is the end of the injuries?

I'm sure not, also probably not the end of players with 'personal obligations' either. Probably all the more reason not to overreact to it anymore.

I just said above that replacing Aston will be tough. But with regards to your statement about replacing him with a 3-star freshman guy, I'll just remind you that Aston is a walk-on.
And the next man up is Colton Lively, a redshirt senior (also a walk-on).

Whitehead will be missed for game 2 and 3. We won't miss Bookser in game 1. The other guys will be replaced by younger and better players. It will hurt if Aston is out for a length of time. This stuff, while not good, is by no means terminal. The situation is not as dire as some think. And it's worth it if the message gets thru.

There is no replacing Aston. As his coaches, past and present, have said over and over, he is a very unique player.

This is a big blow.

I'd consider QO in the Ashton role. Let Moss Hall and the 2 freshmen handle RB duties. QO ran similar plays in red zone so he knows the position. His blocking isn't as strong but he can catch the ball and run. Could be a viable option for first few weeks if it appears he hasn't secured RB1 come game week.

A. Most teams lose key personnel, its football not ping pong.

B. Love Alston, he is a great player... but he is a fullback. If he is a key personnel, then every position is key. He will be missed, but if we lose others it will be worse.

Someone more than adequate (but not as excellent) will no doubt be found. The sky isn't falling.
I'm not being a Debbie Downer here-I'm just pointing out the fact that the coaches, including Canada, have said that Aston is a very unique and versatile player, in fact i believe Canada said he's the most versatile player he's ever coached and he drew up a lot of stuff to maximize Aston's talents. .

So yeah, I'm sure we have another capable full ack to step in and handle the basic functions of the position, but not one who will be the multi-faceted weapon that Aston is as a H back.

His absence will hurt big time in pass blocking and down field blocking. He was critical in picking up the blitzing linebackers during the season. Something Ollison could not do the last 2 years. Thus, the reason he was on the bench.

No team in the NCAA in recent memory has lost 7 or 8 starters who were penciled in to be starters or contribute in a big way. Without a head coaching change or getting in trouble with the NCAA.

Many can try and spin it anyway they want. But it is exactly that......spin
