Ok, terrible 3 pt shooting... 1-16, only two assists, and 21 turnovers.
The Good...we out rebounded K ST 40-30, and we were 18-21 in FT's.
We actually won the game IMO because of our inside play. That was
something most on here (myself included) saw as a weakness. Having
two bigs out there at once, along with Champagnie actually gives us
some strength inside. THAT is a welcome change. We don't have
access to Capel's shot chart, but if we did...we'd see most of our
field goals were inside. That is another stat, and an important one.

BTW....speaking of stats...K ST was 3-13 at the line. That was a
killer stat for them.

KSU shot 13-38 on twos which is a pretty good defensive number for us. Chalk much of that up to the work of Terrell Brown.

On the other hand, the good guys shot 21-31 on twos, which is a very good number.

Our twos IMO were a result of our inside play which was pretty strong tonight.
If we could see the shot chart, we'd see exactly where those shots were
made. My sense is most of them were from the inside.
After all the discussion we've had on here about our poor
inside play...who woulda thunk it!

It looks like the link isn't directly working, but copy and paste it into your browser and it should work.

That has us 7-10 "under the basket" plus 9-13 "in the paint". So 16-23 on all shots in the paint. 5-8 on twos not in the paint. 1-16 on threes.

Thanks. I couldn't bring the link up, but your numbers are enough.
16-23 (good %) is about what I expected in the paint.
5-8 on twos appears good, but it has to be put in with the 1-16 giving
us a not so good 6-24 (25%) from the outside.

When you look at K ST shooting 10 for 20 from three pt. land, it
becomes obvious that we won the game from inside.

Pitt hasn’t had any pretty wins but they have showed a lot of mental toughness in the wins they have had against both Florida St and Kansas State. I think this team is going to get better as the season moves forward. They are definitely better then a year ago and won’t fall flat on their face like they did a year ago once ACC play started.
